Honestly loving both the amateur's league and the pro league right now. lots of faces and various styles that teams prefer to go for over others, its nice to see that certain teams like using different strategies.
Answer to Zach lights rambling. A mistake is a mistake. That is the most common way for a person to win in anything. There should be no difference between a mistake being made 5 minutes into the game opposed to the first few seconds, if you let their be a difference then your judgment is clouded with bias making your judgement unfair. At the end of the day Firework made that mistake consciously unless you claim he was planning to play the game while asleep. Mind you it does suck but it was his action that caused this and no one else forced his hand therefore, it was his "mistake" of which he will surely not make again.
3:20:36 - That was unexpected. I'm immensely happy to see something that I've suggested has been noticed by Noze and discussed with Incursus on stream. :O
I think the call made about the self destruct was the correct one if only because of the precedent it sets. if a restart was allowed, the game end screen would give away commander choices, which could cause intentional early self destructs for scouting. Not that I doubt the integrity of the players, but optimal strategies seems to always pull through, even when everyone knows its anti-fun. (thinking of why evasion moves are banned in most pokemon singles formats, its really good but turns the game into dice rolling, which isn't very fun)
Maybe if this happens again they have to do a shuffle of commanders to make sure any info gained can't be abused. Or if not random have a backup each team can use.
I can't begin to describe how much I disagree with you, skipping that match was fine because I was watching the replay but I'd be pissed if I was watching that live, what was the point of the restart, you knew how it was going to go, the entire replay would have been boring to watch, if you are going to give the team a chance to know the commanders and then give them time to plan to win a 1v2, they could have done almost anything and still won. IF it became a problem change the rules to compensate, install a mod that hides commanders from the end screen, any one of a thousand other things than: "Ok, we are pretending we are better than we are so we are going to restart, yes it would take us just as long to make it an exciting 2v2 but instead it will be a boring 2v1 and no we won't just move to the next bracket and play this game after the tournament so that we aren't boring our audience." Which is what they chose, the audience doesn't matter, the players don't matter, all that matters to them is that they can pretend to LOOK official. Bad call for everyone involved.
I think either Incursus knew he F'd up or I'm just paying closer attention because after that he just stumbled over his words more and repeated himself, I just got bored before the end.
Thank you for the excellent coverage of this tournament. And thanks to all the players and the organization who made it possible. I've seen some some of the best matches and superb comebacks. Thanks everyone!
@@seawolfben Which is I'm pretty sure roughly what happened. Especially since this was a b01 there was really no reason to restart. Its not worth to restart especially with money and even without. Why should one team have to restart for someone else making a very simple yet big mistake. That's what I hated about some of the people in chat more specifically Zach Light.
For others who didnt know what the ~ at the bottom of the scoreboards, it is wasted metal/energy, notably in the promotion games you can see the challengers often are wasting much more energy granted its a matter of builds its a intresting stat.
It's discusses somewhere vaguely around 2 hour 30. The ranked/competitive scene doesn't use it as much largely since its a bit less "refined" and there is a lot more unreliability in the strats, especially with moving forts sometimes causing total weapon failure. There has been a tournament on it at some point but it's not in the currently running set
01:34:00 You could go for a restart but give Speck Fanaticker the choice of what sides to start on? If you can choose start positions too, they could have the choice to give them something? I assume that as an admin you don't have an option to nerf a players start economy?
I honestly was very confused the way they made the finals. Wasn't DankeMerkel supposed to win after a single Best of 3 while Speckfanatiker would have to win both. At least that is how it is normaly implemented when you have a losers bracket. The last matches were just very confusing in my opinion.
Seep just never works, every team that chooses them always loses, i dont know why they even pick seep. They lost to a double howitzer gambit when Danke Merkel were SEVERELY behind. Even when the enemy makes that big of a screw up seep can't do a damn thing.

I know I'm late, but thank you!!
Let's be honest, we all thought Amburulo's howitzer gambit was doomed to fail initially.
Honestly loving both the amateur's league and the pro league right now. lots of faces and various styles that teams prefer to go for over others, its nice to see that certain teams like using different strategies.
I don't play forts but I love watching it. I am so glad there are tournament's of it. Thank you.

54:00 the missiles where long sold off before the howitzer hit.
Danke merkel comeback @ 58:45 was really impressive
The names are confusing .. but Amburulo did an amazing job
2:31 - Inc starts speaking
6:10 - 1st battle

I just love how the sniper rounds bounce 2 times off the wood in that base^^
Just watched the Come-back from danke merkel .
Truly amazing 🤩

Yeah thats a very nifty slight comeback mechanic. Since they still have the same apm, just less resources, and loss of weapons/tech.

The Preparation for Magnabeam was crazy. How could they know, our did they prepare for everything?

1:30:40 Firework blowing up his own core and then asking for a restart lol.
What do you expect someone to do?
I think the right call is to let the other team decide if they'll allow the redo.

What did Firework do to make his core explode out of nowhere? Felt to me the core explode without Firework consent.
@@nogisonoko5409 he sold the door in front of the gunner accidently, it was his fault.
Speckfanatiker were the absolute comeback kings in tgis tournament. Excellent play and I was rooting for them since thier second game.
I'm with you Inc about Hallrassy, but for a different reason. I just love his name😅

Wow, Armourdillo actually won a match. Now that I didn't see coming.
Why is the armor blue sometimes?
first match start: 6:39
The confusion with the team names is on! :D
Amburulos play was insane, but also very lucky, because I don‘t think he could have done it if they destroyed his mates tech
1:46 League need a rule for that kind of mistake. Something like 10 second grace period.
Can someone explain to me why High Seas content is never present in these videos?

whos that "Sälzwörk" fella Incursus keeps mentioning? I got my forts cast in the german tongue right here ^^

I feel like the final should have been best 3 out of 5 with danke merkel starting with a free win.
I honestly was very confused the way they made the finals.

they call the knockout matches relegation in the qpl

Maybe if he stopped zooming at random spots he wouldn't miss most important game changing events.
Dude u got eye deficit?

The way Incursus pronounces "danke" made it really hard to watch the sets Danke Merkel played
benzin cheated he knew the magma beam was coming deff had a tip off

First match was so boring! just pro's seal clubbing an amateur team without taking a single point of core damage.
