Watching your dog movie essays reminds me of that weird one, where two teenagers illegally build a highly mechanized dog hotel in an abandoned facility to safe them from getting euthanized at the shelter. *"them" referring to the dogs, not the kids
* Kids use Rube Goldberg machines to take care of a motley crew of dogs * A hotel manager attempts to protect people from the Rwandan Genocide Both featuring Don Cheadle.
It's not stated, but I headcanon that when he says "Don't Turn Around" to himself over and over, its because that's how he was trained. The cops trained him like that! So he's trying to follow his training
he says it because he knows he’ll be susceptible to her face and her pouting- she makes him feel emotionally vulnerable because she’s in distress and cares about him and wants to be with him always, and he knows that. They care for eachother and he doesn’t want to be emotionally vulnerable because in the past when he was attached to someone emotionally, they got hurt.
Also about the erasing the whole character arc for Chloe in the second with the dog wedding, to be fair, she is a dog and the people absolutely wouldn’t know whether she wanted a wedding or not. This is just aunt viv stuff
The first movie holds a special place in my heart. My old friend and I named our dogs after the main ones. Chloe and Delgado, they were also siblings. We unfortunately had to put Chloe down due to cancer in October. I miss her so much. I'm not sure what happened to Delgado as we lost touch with them two years ago.
Fun fact: The unused ending of the first film, shown in the Blu-Ray cut, involved Chloe dying FOR REAL and being revived by her deceased chihuahua ancestors. I am not joking.
I remember my childhood love of Chihuahuas boiling down to three things: Legally Blonde, the Taco Bell dog, and this. Also, I forgot Cats and Dogs didn’t have a talking Nathan Lane cat.
When I was a little girl, I’m 25 now and haven’t thought about the Beverly Hills chihuahua movies in a decade, but oh boy did I watch the first two of those movies religiously, just over and over and over again, absolutely loved them.
I wonder if it's cause they knew that if they were going to make a sequel they'd want to have puppies and they also wanted those puppies to be chihuahuas
19:22 fun fact: before settling in tenochtitlan, the aztecs used to be called Chichimecas, which means "dog people." oh and after they were called mexica, and thats why the country is called mexico
Dog slop movies (especially the BHC series) were my bread and butter as a kid. If there was a talking dog in a movie, i watched it. I have very fond memories of these movies and I'm glad to see you cover them!
dude, first the buddies, now beverly hills chihuahua? bro is combing through my childhood for content and i'm down for it eta: i love your videos, and am loving this one, but i do have a criticism that you think money/mortgage/eviction are stakes that are incomprehensible to a child. it comes across as a little privileged and a little condescending to think that there aren't a ton of children who understand what bills are and that not being homeless costs money. most kids aren't dumb, and many come from families where being shielded from that knowledge is impossible. very faboo channel though please continue eta eta: when i was a kid i thought the chef guy was gordon ramsay. surprised to find out gordon ramsay is not in beverly hills chihuahua 3 eta eta eta: i always wondered why rosa is the one that gets a quince when her sisters are the same age as her... favorite child much?
the money issues being known to a child is very true! some parents will outright complain to their children, but also, it’s a real threat to lower income families and that’s not something you can really hide from children. kids are very observant and catch a lot of things. at the very least, they can tell when their parents get stressed opening the mail, or how at the end of the month, they’re only eating bologna sandwiches.
I'm convinced that the Buddies films and the Beverly Hills of Chihuahua films take place in the same universe, plus ik these films are that good but I grew up with them so I've always had a soft spot for these films
these movies were my childhood and for years i only knew Jamie Lee Curtis as “the Beverly Hills Chihuahua lady” and the montezuma scene lives in my head rent-free
I had the plushies for the 2 main characters, I would put their collars around their noses and call them super dogs!!! And they would aave the day! Sadly, the day they went up against a real dog, they met their grim fates
I remember seeing the first movie in theaters when it came out. Some lines stayed in my memory even after not seeing the movie in years, like Chloe saying “my booty” (meaning her boots) and Delgado yelling at Chloe for not knowing iguanas are vegetarians. 😂 I also remember how Papi was not really on screen as much as I expected, so the chemistry between him and Chloe felt hollow. Chloe honestly had more romantic chemistry with Delgado. Heck, the freaking mouse and iguana had more chemistry.
Let's be honest when it comes to the first movie, The only reason why I Delgado isnt her love interest is because they wouldn't be able to have kids for a sequel like her and Papi can.
The longer this video goes on the more you’re convincing me that Chloe and Delgado should have gotten together at the end of the first movie. I don’t know why I’m shipping these dogs but apparently this is who I am now
Dogs in movies are typically trained to perform. They’re not acting per se but they are acting out what they were trained to do. At least in modern movies, which can be really expensive. So just keep that in mind when you’re watching dog movies.
Funny how you did Beverly Hills Chihuahua before the Santa Paws movies The most consistent thing about those movies is them casting this one girl. First she voiced Tiny in Santa Buddies, then she’s the little sister who sings songs and loves Christmas, then she’s the exact same thing except a different character with an older brother and a dead mom
I find it so funny that when I was younger, I only ever watched the 2nd and 3rd Beverly Hills Chihuahua and for an embarrassingly long time my child brain thought there just wasn’t a first one lol
I have all 3 of these and the plushes lol 14:55 hes a cop dog, he was taught early on to not turn around and be vulnerable, and the one time he did someone he cared about died, the reason why he kept saying "don't turn around" is not only cause hes following his training, but if he does turn around hes afraid the same mistake will happen, that someone he cares about will die. Hes also saying it cause of the trauma he got too. Idk i thought i should explain idk.
Glad you were in a better headspace when making this video, and it was amazing btw! Unlocked my childhood… And if you’re looking for other dog movies to review, you should totally do the Pup Star series next! ❤
Tbh, Chole had more believable chemistry with Del Gato more than she did with Poppy. The "romance" plot between Chole and Poppy just felt rushed and forced it felt the same between Sam and Rachel, they two didn't have enough chemistry or build-up
truly my stomach dropped out of my ass when i saw this thumbnail. these movies were such a big part of my childhood and i stg i think of them daily, i haven’t found a single decent youtube video on them and now ONE OF MY FAVS COVERING IT???!?!?!? could not have asked for a better birthday/christmas present! 🥰
i said 'yayy more doggy movies!!!!' out loud this is the concerningly specific niche i followed you for thank you for more funny doggy movies among your other excellent content
I only ever saw the first film and I shipped Chloe and Delgado so hard. I kinda still do, like they have so much more chemistry than Chloe and Papi. They actually go through an arc together! Help each other grow, yanno? In most female lead adventure films Delgado's role in the movie would belong to the love interest. yeah sure you prolly won't get any offspring out of such a couple but that size difference is adorable enough to make up for a lack of puppers imo
Why not? In my opinion, it makes a lot more sense for Chloe to get with the guy she went on an entire journey with for a majority of the movie then the guy who she showed 0 interest in.
I agree with that but- She barely had any interactions with Papi in the 1st movie, I feel like it would make more sense for Delgado to get with her or just for her to not get with anyone at all.
Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Space Buddies, and Snow Buddies were the only way I could fall asleep as a child- I have them all memorized with the buddies soundtrack memorized and I can retell the stories beat by beat and occasionally recite voice lines for the specific scenes. I have alwayssss wanted someone to talk about these movies and make a commentary on them, so thank you for making that dream come true. these movies are my childhood, and I can quote them until the cows come home- thank you for making this video, my childhood self feels seen, well, I feel seen.
@@FantasticFawnleapDude, why are you replying to any comment that doesn't ship the same thing as you. People have opinions, you don't need to say "no" to everyone who has a harmless differing opinion 😭🙏
These movies were my childhood. The movies did have a dub, so I didnt watch them in english, which did help in someways. Like, every movie has the same voice actors, Chloe has more emotion, and Papi is a more enjoyable character. Dog movies, were my favorite types of films. Even the bad and the good. From these ones, to buddies to cats vs dogs to underdog. They hold a lot of memories, and its great to see you not bash them to the ground. Ps. We named our family Corgi after Papi. Not really after the chihu, but just cause the name fit. Which I still think is funny.

Just to add- I’m also a girl who grew up loving these movies and I love the buddies movies almost as much! You should give them another chance. Especially the Christmas one with ‘Tiny’ it changed my entire view of the holidays as a child.
I grew up with talking dog movies. You talking about my favourite series (buddy’s and Beverley hills) makes my inner child scream with joy. Thank you 🫶
I feel like this franchise and the Spy Kids franchise made a lot more sense to me once I learned out what being Latino was (I’m from the UK so South American culture just didn’t come up that much I just kind of lumped all of the continent of America together in my head)
I find this video so interesting because I haven't watched these movies in at least 7-8 years. I didn't remember any of the plot but the most random insignificant shit would ping something in my brain- Chloe taking off her shoe (but not the theme behind it), the puppies destroying the house in the second movie, the dog quinceñera, etc
33:17 I mean how I interpreted was that Sam likely wasnt wrong since if Sam is right (with the pound thing) its possible that the shop owner that shooed both Popi and Pedro away could of called the pound and if Sam didnt find both dogs in time they could of ended up at the pound. Also he didnt say he got them at the pound (since he could of meant that the pound could of talked to him but not taken the dogs at the pound. Think of the Winn Dixie movie where the pound almost took the dog away cause the dad called on the dog but luckily the pound didnt take him cause the dad stopped the pound)

omggg these were some of my favorite movies when i was a kid. my siblings and i got into SO many antics with our own chihuahuas after watching these movies it was wild
Beverly Hills Chihuahua has easily been one of my favorite movies. When I was young, I had to go through IV infusion a bunch, my hospital had the dvd all the time so I just watched and rewatched it nonstop for years. Never got tired of it, and now it's super nostalgic.
When I was younger I loved Delgato (I think that's how it's spelt?) Watching this now, I wish he and Chloe ended up together. I hated Poppy with a burning passion, and wanted more Delgato over all. He'd have been a better main character than Poppy ever could
I know it's just a movie about dogs but I feel like Chloe represents what Mexicans think Mexican Americans are like or at least what they think we think we are like, especially if you're a 3rd 4th 5th etc generation. Ofc it's not always true but growing up I did see fellow chicano peers loose connection with their culture and identity. Really the only way you would tell they are Hispanic is their last name and some select features. Today it can come from insecurity that you'll never be "latino enough" so why even try, but back in times of segregation and the country's attempt to whitewash many immigrants and Hispanic Americans would purposely choose to separate themselves from their cultural identity to fit in and overall survive. And yes there were ones who believed they were better then their immigrant relatives because of their American nationality and would try to be and act as white as possible (including changing their names to something English American) and passed that onto their children who passed it to theirs (the generational trauma is realll) And this isn't exclusive to Latinos as anyone who is an American with immigrant family will understand the pressure of their preconceived notions that you're American so you'll never understand the struggle or the culture like someone from the motherland would.
15:40 not entirely true though because dogs developed eyebrows specifically to convey emotions in a human way to communicate *with* humans and act/beg in order to trigger a nurturing response in humans, get food, attention, etc.
20:40 Kid me confidently told my mom while watching this move "OHHH I get it, they're saying "No Moss" because a rolling stone doesnt pick up moss!" (IDK I had just heard that metaphor and so I think that I thought they were making some reference to keep going like the rock,) And my mom flat toned was like "No mas, means no more in spansih," And i was genuinely so floored, thinking i made some crazy connection and i was so smart for solving the meaning.
Oh, I'm excited for someone to finally give my little 8-year-old self's guilty pleasures their chance to shine. (Primary the first one, apparently I didn't give two and three much of a glance lmao)
i rewatched these movies so many times but the biggest memory I have with them is my father who decided the best way to learn spanish was to leave the living room tv blasting a spanish speaking channel which lead to me repeatedly getting woken up by george lopez yelling in spanish about his dog wife. i guess it paid off when he said thank you to a waitress in spanish one time lmao
Ok,I have to defend Mater a little bit,LM is extremely classist at the beginning and i fully believe without mater in that first movie,he wouldve stayed that way,he meets hudson but only thinks about beating him in a race that the ladder hasnt beeen in,in like 30- 40 years, and he just wants to get with Sally, which we see he probably does a lot while using his fame as seen when the twins flash him in the beginning and his immediate response to it,LM is a terrible car but Mater always helps someone in need, even if theyre horrible to him,he deserved the sequel (the other characters in the first cars movie are pretty one note besides these four, the atagonist and the blue car from DYNACO,and they dont really flesh out sally enough honestly besides being a blushing love interest for LM,and Hudson could have a great prequel but thats about it) Justice for Mater, hes one of the best things in a franchise and world that is weirdly extremely vast, with books, movies, spinoffs and shows
My cat has anxiety and demands my and my partners attention as much as possible to the point that he used to not eat unless we watch. Not sit near him with a phone, you have to look at him and he would check and be upset if he sees you weren't watching. He's over that but if I've been sleeping too long he wakes me up to just cuddle. Not yet food, to cuddle and pet him. ... yes he is very spoiled.
New Maxwell Greene video?! It’s a Maxwell Greene Miracle! Me love that they treat dogs well, but I’m now scared to watch your video on the Snow Buddies movie because I loved that movie and I really hope that they didn’t treat the dogs well, but now I understand that they really didn’t and that freaking sucks

Beverly Hills Chihuahua has easily been one of my favorite movies. When I was young, I had to go through IV infusion a bunch, my hospital had the dvd all the time so I just watched and rewatched it nonstop for years. Never got tired of it, and now it's super nostalgic.
Wishing y’all a faboo 2025!!
These movies meant everything to me, ive slept with my childhood stuffed toys i named papi and chloe 14 years ago and take them with me everywhere
This video was totally FABU
as always, peak content
YESSS OMG I WANTED YOU TO TALK ABOUT THESE MOVIES SO BAD
I was just checking your channel last weekend to see if you've posted again! ♡ excited to watch
When I was younger I loved Delgato (I think that's how it's spelt?)
Watching this now, I wish he and Chloe ended up together. I hated Poppy with a burning passion, and wanted more Delgato over all. He'd have been a better main character than Poppy ever could
8 year old me was pissed that Delgato and Chloe didn't end up together. I'm convinced the only reason they weren't is so puppies can happen.
Just letting you know, is Delgado
These movies had such an impact on my family, one of my childhood dogs was a chihuahua named Monty (full name Montezuma)
FINALLY. SOMEONE TALKING ABOUT BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAHUA. I USED TO BE OBSESSED WITH THESE CRAPPY MOVIES.
Take a shot everytime "do you take mexican express" is said
Oh, I'm excited for someone to finally give my little 8-year-old self's guilty pleasures their chance to shine. (Primary the first one, apparently I didn't give two and three much of a glance lmao)
Ladies and Gentlemen. THE MAN IS BACK!!! [hold for applause]
Glad you're back!
Thanks for the mention on what an actual dog show is like! Legit every dog movie goes out of its way to make it literally anything 😆
FINALLY THIS SERIES WAS MY CHILDHOOD
these films were such a funny childhood hyperfixation to have looking back, played the theme song to death. But i cherish the silly chihuahuas sm
i rewatched these movies so many times but the biggest memory I have with them is my father who decided the best way to learn spanish was to leave the living room tv blasting a spanish speaking channel which lead to me repeatedly getting woken up by george lopez yelling in spanish about his dog wife. i guess it paid off when he said thank you to a waitress in spanish one time lmao
Ok,I have to defend Mater a little bit,LM is extremely classist at the beginning and i fully believe without mater in that first movie,he wouldve stayed that way,he meets hudson but only thinks about beating him in a race that the ladder hasnt beeen in,in like 30- 40 years, and he just wants to get with Sally, which we see he probably does a lot while using his fame as seen when the twins flash him in the beginning and his immediate response to it,LM is a terrible car but Mater always helps someone in need, even if theyre horrible to him,he deserved the sequel (the other characters in the first cars movie are pretty one note besides these four, the atagonist and the blue car from DYNACO,and they dont really flesh out sally enough honestly besides being a blushing love interest for LM,and Hudson could have a great prequel but thats about it)
Justice for Mater, hes one of the best things in a franchise and world that is weirdly extremely vast, with books, movies, spinoffs and shows
He’s a rat not a mouse :(
My little brother loved this movie when he was younger! This was a trip down memory lane.
Yay the full video's here!
i loved beverly hills chihuahua 1 & 2
i love dog movies still
the film for "no sabos"
I was today years old when I found out this movie had sequels.
18:24 My nose also doesn't work, but not because of trauma but (I'm pretty sure) from my cleft
My sister loovvesss chihuahuas so we watched them a couple years ago and she had no interest in them so I watched the rest of the moives they were pretty good
BTW I want a something rotten video
Failed my final today I needed this.
