Great point about Atlas not originally a Marvel clone. It's a shame they couldn't afford to hang in there to give their creations more time to catch on. The revenge concept seemed to cause them to flood the market rather than build slowly.
Comic Book Artist #16 used the phrase for one of their articles. If you can get hold of a copy, I'm pretty sure it's the most complete retrospective on the company available.
They had all the talent Marvel had... U just reminded me about this story and the killings (non spoiler) that shook me the first time. But if you keep going with these Atlas Seaboard reviews this isn't the only moment that was definently far more "brutal" than Marvel Comics storytelling.
A misunderstood monster is hunted by society. And if those purple pants don't remind you of the ever lovin' Hulk you need to turn in your Merry Marvel Marching Society card. There were other influnces but the Hulk is clearly one.

Excellent video!!!!
Oh, yes. By most accounts, Martin Goodman was MUCH more concerned with newsstand space than quality output.
@sleepyreader666 Thank you!
Another great retrospective! "Vengeance Inc"?? Hmm I've never heard that term for the company.

Cool Covers
Atlas/Seaboard produced some amazing covers.

Stay tuned. 😉
Shame it became a Hulk clone so early on, because I love the concept!
Agreed! They could have made quite an impression on the industry AND fandom, with fewer titles and a more tenacious mindset.
Are you referring to the 1984 film, Iceman?
Yes! That’s it!!

Absolutely.
