The most interesting thing about this game is probably the gameplay demo in MGS3. If you don't know what I'm talking about the original PS2 release had a secret where saving and quitting in the prison would have the game put you in a dream sequence where you kill monsters with gameplay similar to Nanobreaker. 5:00 IIRC the wings on your back are some kind of powered-up state that allows your combo ender moves to trigger their instant-kill conditions on enemies. I believe you get it by doing damage without getting hit and lose it when you do. I found in a lot of the more enemy dense sections I would get the wings and then just spam the shortest combo that could instakill multiple targets.
Dunno if it's the case with this game but sometimes VAs will choose to go uncredited. It was often a way of getting around VA union restrictions that would otherwise prevent them from working on the game.

If I'm ever super board some afternoon I should see how far I can go. Also I noticed there is a "nanobreaker" yugioh card. The armor looks just like the protagonists, but the character in the Yugioh card has black hair instead of white but I wonder if it's still intended as an homage to this game.

I tried so hard to be good at this game as a kid, but I simply couldn't. I think the thing that made it so difficult was the issue of no t having a reliable source oh healing and you could put yourself in an unwinnable state if you were to save while being one hit from death.

Considering his area of specialization seems to lie more with combat. I'd personally want to throw in Legend of Kay, the Maximo games and Kya: Dark Lineage into the suggestion list. One of my favourite 3D platformer type games out there. Moveset options are small at first, with about five specific punch and kick combos. But as you purchase more magic bracelets, each bracelet adds extra moves on your pre-existing moveset. Stuff like around five different kick moves to make combos out of, depending on the position of the left analog stick while pressing Triangle (the Kick button), three different grabs depending on Kya's position in relation to the enemy, jumping over or onto enemies like in Prince of Persia, a few attacks done while in a defensive position, and manipulating enemies by jumping on their backs or grabbing them by the tail. *really* in depth and solid combat system, to the point it probably isn't wholly a 3D platformer anymore. interesting to see more videos on this game from more well-known channels on the Character Action and Hack-and-Slash subject. I'm sorry to hear about it annoying you so much in the second half, though. There's a channel out there by name of o_uwu_o who does a series on analyzing specifically the combat of action games, though looks at other aspects of the games as well to then give a small review at the end. Generally though, he focuses very much on the combat: Player moves, HUDs, enemies etc. And with his video on Nano Breaker, i wonder if certain pieces of info on that game would have made your experience with the game more positively. Like for example: 1: For the grapple, there apparently *is* a way of selecting a specific enemy to grab. Not by tapping the Grab/Circle button, but by holding it. 2: The "Light" and "heavy" attacks are more like directional attacks. Both come out at the same speed, but Vertical ("Heavy") attacks have damage centered on an enemy, with Horizontal ("Light") attack having damage spread out. 3: Depending on how enemy types get sliced, they can essentially become a different enemy. Like normal jobbers losing their legs and becoming dangerous ankle biters from horizontal cuts, to double shield enemies losing the shields but instead now belching out some vomit that slows you down when in it from a vertical cut. 4: The launcher's not really meant for air combot follow-ups, but for putting certain enemies in a more vulnerable position to attack them with. And more. You may not find yourself returning to Nano Breaker after that sour aftertaste, but if you do, i hope o_uwu_o's video and findings may help make it a more enjoyable experience gameplay-wise throughout. Same for anyone else who wants to try the game and has come across this comment.
i am rather sure the game explains the wings in the tutorial, it shows somewhere a tad after it that the faster and more you kill the more powerful your blade gets and more buffs you get, like extra dmg on the basic sword and faster animation on the heavy combos while also giving extra effects for some of them. like the giant hammer being nearly a instakill for enemies on the ground while you have the wings out. that aside i am extremelly dissapointed you didnt mencioned a single time the game was MADE BY THE CASTLEVANIA DEV TEAM........
Was looking for a comment like this about the wings! If i'm not mistaken, specific enemies also change their movesets depending on how you cut them with the blade (horizontally or vertically). Like how the chunky double-shield enemies lose their shield biting and punching if you cut them vertically, but gain the ability to spit puddles of caustic acid instead. Which is an interesting idea. And from looking up some other vids on Nano Breaker just now, apparently you *can* choose what enemies to target by holding the button before release. Huh.
