  • In this video, Logee's co-owners, Byron Martin and Laurelynn Martin, have some fun tasting a Citron 'Turunji' (Citrus medica). If you're looking for a citrus tree that's as unique as it is delicious, look no further than Citron 'Turunji'. This remarkable variety produces enormous, bumpy fruits that resemble giant lemons. But the real surprise is inside. Unlike most citrons, 'Turunji' boasts a thick, sweet inner rind that you can eat like an apple. Citrons are among the oldest cultivated citrus fruits, with the 'Turunji' variety linked to the Etrog citron, a significant fruit in Jewish harvest rituals. 'Turunji' can also be used to create unique marmalades and candied treats (link to recipe below).
Grow your 'Turunji' in a sunny spot with well-draining soil, providing regular watering for the best results. As the fruits can become quite heavy, start training your young tree early to develop strong, supportive branches.

Citron is actually the word for lemon in French. And this we call cédrat, from the tree "cedar", because of its smell.

The pulp can be used to make like a "lemonade" with some peel added, the aroma is just wonderful.
