Timber Creek Independent (aka TCI) won their first ever PIW contest at 2008 FFCC state championships (after being promoted TWICE, from PIA to PIO to PIW, that season), beating out Infinity by 0.4 ... and in their FINAL contest as TCI, at WGI 2010, they finished 13th, beating out Infinity by 1.275 ... so TCI's legacy is BOOKENDING Infinity ... Clif Walker CANNOT be thanked enough for the TCI experience
Probably a multi-faceted decision. One, you don't have to teach "proper" cymbal technique. Two, a lot easier to play over a seven-minute period in terms of fatigue from the weight. (less than that because they end up with cameras in the closer). And some of the visual stuff they did was different than what you'd usually see with two plates. And, with a drumset-driven pop show, stick/cymbal timbre is probably preferred. it's a thinker ;-)
I really like the show concept. My favorite part is the snare feature in the end when there four red performers surround the snares, and then you hear the vocal, "theyre, always watching." Really effective.
i don't care what anyone thinks, this is one of my top five shows of all time.
Is the Jason Burris in the beginning of the video the Jason Burris that was center at PR this past year?

@decoytenor thats just the way they did it that season, they are using normal cymbals this year
@cheesefives yes he was on the line that year, and this past season he was on staff as the snare tech.
Saw them at FFCC Championships, absolutlely incredible. The cymbal section leader is a good friend of mine
Are you one of those kids that screams his name before we perform? lol
