The new Realsee Galois M2 is a very strong competitor for the Matterport Pro 3. I have been using the Galois for a while, and it's incredibly impressive!!
Such a helpful video. Thanks for sharing this info! I come away with the key points that you can scan faster and further apart, scan outdoors, but have to watch out for alignment errors as compared to the Pro2. That is EXACTLY my experience with the Ricoh Theta Z1 vs the Pro2! While the image quality of the Pro3 is probably better than the Z1, the Z1 has really good quality and is more than good enough for 90% of my jobs. I can use the Pro2 for the rest. Unless there are more benefits to the Pro3 I can’t see spending $6K vs $1K for the Ricoh Z1 to get the benefits of speed and shooting outside.
Hi is it good for doing long videos with these cameras 3d I believe i don't know is it good to connect with pc too because tablet have not same amount of space but pc we can put and put large hdd space does these cameras is intelligent to and it software of editing videos.
You can use an android tablet or phone for capture, and that is needed for creating the tours. The editing can be done on a tablet, phone, or a desktop (Mac or pc) and so I prefer to edit on a Mac laptop but the capture really needs to be done on a wireless tablet or mobile device. Hope this answers your question?!
@@HopscotchInteractive good in everything is can do videos in 3d not only home tour but can do videos in 3D this is very most interesting and if it yes thank you very much in advance
Thanks yes, we get paid by the square footage with a minimum for standard spaces. Feel free to reach out with more specific questions but the prices are very different depending on geography
It’s shorter, processing time between scans is also affected by your capture device (tablet etc), but it’s faster…it takes a lot of adjustment to move quickly around it fast enough. When I want a more chill pace I still use a Pro2 - so maybe 50/50? But for exteriors and indoor to outdoor transitions it can’t be beat
@@HopscotchInteractiveif you are have issues with the scans aligning with spaces that are very similar then why not use QR targets? Only a small fraction of the scan data is used by the iPad for alignment in the field. Why not help it?
We think in this case it was the interior glass walls causing the error, but yes, on large repeating spaces we have used them before, but not yet with the Pro3, will definitely give it a try if it’s giving us more problems! Thanks for the tip.
@@HopscotchInteractive I have had the most success by taping the QR targets right on to the middle of glass windows and doors. It then also helps add a reference plane. I have even been able to scan with the Pro2 outside along a storefront in the day by adding a target to each window. Need to enable targets in the app.
The only reason I would buy this one is if its better with sun on the floor. Is it able to capture the floor detail with sun reflecting off of it, or still no? So far on Matterport pro 2, its a black data spot in a floorplan
Great question. Yes, it can capture indoors and outdoors without any issues, because it’s not using infrared. The Pro3 is LiDAR and is not affected by sunlight in most cases.
It depend. On a black floor with no direct sunlight, i was having black spot on the floor, but just add some scan, but not direct sunlight shouldnt affect the camera, I have shot outside and i was amazed. So far this camera is amazing, pictures are beautiful, hdr is nice, super fast, can do a long distance between points
@@HopscotchInteractive So the Matterport Pro 2 could make better use of the infrared light which works in darker rooms and still capture dark surfaces better compared with Lidar which works better in sunlight?
They are really different, the iGuide Planix is lower image quality (Z1), and I find the tours more cumbersome to put together. Now that Matterport has cloud restore and it is such a nice interface to use, I am more bullish on the Pro3, and scanning outside is pretty fun!

Glad you liked it!
What do you normally charge for this? Its fascinating, and certainly super helpful. Hope you get paid well for this service!

Hey great video - so did you throw out the pro2, in favour of full upgrade to pro3?
No I kept all 6 - the pro2 is still great for most of our projects!
Is individual scan time shorter, longer or the same? Pro 2 clocks in around 30 seconds or so; how does this compare?

Great and very informative review.
Thanks you so much.
How is the image Quality is it better or the same as Pro 2 ?
Stay tuned for a review, we will download and take a look at the images and share our thoughts!

@@HopscotchInteractive hi,I have the same q, how is the image quality after the test?
If rooms are too similar then use QR targets and it aligns much better.
Even with the LiDAR you’re still using QR on the Pro3?

Do you need to have a different plan with matterport to make the jump from a 2 to 3
Only if you’re on a classic plan, which one do you have? The old plans don’t work, but if you already have a new hosting plan you’re fine.
How would you compare the pro 3 tot he IGuide camera?

Do you like iguide better?
No, I sold my iguide when the Pro3 came out, maybe 9 months later, I just stopped using it
At least it looks less heavy than the Pro 2.
Yes it’s less top heavy!
