Thank you very much for the video! Can you please tell me how to properly scan a room with opening doors? Is it necessary to do a scan with the door open and then close it without moving the camera so that the space behind the door is not eaten up?
Hi, Although having everything including the doors still throughout the scanning processed, there are some hacks people have used to get around this. It's important to keep in mind the Matterport app and how it aligns between scan positions. It will first try to align the new scan with the previously captured position and if it can't figure it out, it then looks at every other scan on the floor you're scanning into. Opening and closing the door without moving the camera may work as long as the camera is not too close to the door. Meaning, most of the environment has not changed providing the app with enough alignment points that DO still properly align. Alternatively, you can scan your way up to a closed door, then pick up the camera and step back to a previously scanned area that is not in line-of-site with the door to scan a new position. Open the door and continue scanning again toward the open door and through it. This technique takes advantage of what I was first saying about the Matterport app aligning with the previous scanned position first. I hope that helps.
Thanks so much for this great tool. However, we encountered an issue that the trimmed parts appeared back again when viewing the space on my android 8 phone, while it is okay on computer and iphone. Any clues?
Hi, believe this is a known issue and will be fixed in the next release. If you update your Matterport Capture app in the next few weeks and still experience this issue, please reach out to showcase-beta@matterport.com. Thanks
There should not be any delay, but if you still don't see the effect of your trim block was applied to the model in Showcase, I would reach out to the support team. They can much better diagnose your issue. It is possible there is a server delay. That's very unusual, but not impossible.
Hi Vinayak, The SDK can help you with this. You should find what you're looking for here - matterport.github.io/showcase-sdk/sdk_intersection_inspector.html. Keep in mind, you have to hold the mouse on a specific location on the mesh for a second or two and a button shows up to display the coordinates
Hi, Thanks for your new tool. My client wants to remove a particular floor from his space because he didn't do any business there now, is it possible to remove or hide it?
Hi Maya, If you're looking to remove an entire floor, I would recommend creating a duplicate of the model data in your Capture app and from the duplicate, remove the scans from the floor or just delete the entire floor. Re-upload the duplicate model. The problem with using the trim tool to remove an entire floor is the floor will still be available in the floor selector and may confuse visitors as a result.
Hi, thanks for the video and the tool is very useful. However I keep encountering an error: whereby the trim cube keeps 'snapping'or returning to certain coordinates. e.g: If I drag one of the controllers it sort of snaps back to a different size or position. Is there something in some settings I may have overlooked? Thanks
Hi Alexander, This happens when the cube is placed outside the virtual limits of the model. Imagine the model is in an invisible box that's just a little bigger than the model itself. By reducing the size of the trim box you'll be able to put it where you want.
I accidentally deleted the mesh in the clipping/triming tool and I am unable to restore it. I need the mesh of the dollhouse urgently and I was wondering if there is a way to reset it. I would really appreciate it if you could help me with this issue. Best regards
Hi, no worries. The mesh is still there, just hidden. In the Trim tool, you can use the eye icon to hide the trim, thereby revealing the mesh. You can also use the 3-dot menu to delete the trim block. Keep in mind, it's impossible to actually delete the mesh, so if you need it, it's always there.
I just tried the trim tool but it doesn't behave the same as in your video. I cant resize the trim model by grabbing the corners, I just get lines showing X/Y axis.
Hi, you're right. The trim tool was recently updated and now you need to use the arrows, squares, and cubes to resize the trim box. You can also resize in the 3D/Dollhouse view and not just by using the top or side view. A new video that covers the new UI and features of the trim tool will be developed.
@@Matterport It's quite difficult to make it work, I'm clicking and pulling all over the place, it's not very intuitive. Wasn't it much better the way it was before just grabbing the corners? Hope the new vid will shed light on this.
The tool has changed a bit since this video was created. After you've created a new trim box, on the left side of the screen you can choose whether to adjust the position, scale, and even rotation of the box. The default is position so you do have to choose one of the other two options before you can adjust them.
Amazing. I can't wait to be one of your experts especially with this Mediterranean engineer.
Amir, you are amazing!
This is a wonderful development! Thank you very much.
Helpful, thanks!

Great information appreciate you .
Is there a delay on when this applies to the public link? It works inside my account but not in the public link.

doesnt work like that anymore
New video is coming soon. Just waiting on another tweak to the UI and will have it out asap :)
Can't resize the cube at all, only move it around. Pity, this would have been a helpful tool.
