We once tried this in school and it is so freaking hard. Even with a noisy football we still had no idea where it was ever and just kept searching for it instead of really playing
@@lime.324 We´re all sighted but we had a project week on disabilites and I chose the group that focused on disability in sports which was really interesting. On another day we trained with a group of basketball players who play in wheelchairs. That was significantly easier than blind football
I never really gave it a thought about how people within the blind community would be able to do this, but it’s a good solution! I love that nowadays there’s so many ways that people who are blind can do things that non-blind people can independently. This channel has helped me to fully understand ways blind people can do things, as I’m a sighted person myself, but I find this interesting as I have a blind friend myself whose been blind since birth.
First, and it's really interesting to hear about sports played by blind people, since it's a special adaptment to them! Second: And I'm very interested in seeing on how they do^^ Edit: On the second part, I meant in terms of championships and such. So please, if you have anything against my comment, just dislike it, nothing else.
@@Zoe_lou They can see, how is that offensive? I’m in a wheelchair and my friends & family, and even myself, still say something like “oh let’s walk over here”. Because it’s a common phrase. It’s not offensive just because I can’t walk.
A lot of these players actually have IMPRESSIVE ball control! This is very inspirational and proves you can do anything you set your mind to!! Respect! ✊🏻💛
How interesting. I love your channel. I have a niece who is blind and I always get amazed at how she does every day life. Thanks to you, I now understand a bit more.
It's so nice to hear your bubbly personality. I'm really happy sports have come a long way to include everybody. Lots of love from very hot Central valley of California. It's 38.8C where I am right now so I don't think anyone's playing football, but I've been enjoying watching a recorded match. I'm a huge Manchester United fan
Its amazing how alot people are born different than others and they know it and they adapt so well if i was blind oh damn that would be a sight to behold
This is probably the most interesting video you've done yet Lucy. I don't think I've ever considered how sports like football are made accessible to disabilities. But now I know😆
I played as a goaly once for a blind soccer team. They also yell “fort” ( or anything else really) when running towards the ball so they know if someone else is running towards it too so they don’t crash into one another. It was super interesting to watch them train even when I didn’t stay in the team for long.
I have diplopia/double vision and I am an avid softball player. But when I started it was next to impossible to play as I couldn't see the ball at all. But I got prism lenses and my vision instantly improved and allowed my game to improve. So it's entirely possible to adapt with special devices like those. This is amazing!
Reading the other comments I’ve heard this is really hard but still, isn’t it super cool that people have found a work around of not being able to play soccer or football because of blindness.
We played goal ball in school once which is a sport when you have to defend a goal so the other team cant get the jingly ball in the goal. You have to play it laying down though. It was so hard so i think blind football would be even harder.
Me living in the United States of America hearing the word football thinking: 🏈 But then I remembered it’s different in the UK Also Lucy love your content your so sweet and funny 😄 Keep it up!
There is also a sport called Goal Ball (I am pretty sure that is what it is called) that it sounds similar too! I have never played it before, but I want to! Anyways, God bless you! =^D
Goalball is a team sport designed specifically for athletes with a vision impairment. Participants compete in teams of three, and try to throw a ball that has bells embedded in it into the opponents' goal. The ball is thrown by hand and never kicked.
@@lynnenicholson6968 That is weird. I thought I was told that it was the exact opposite where it is ALWAYS kicked and NEVER touched by hands? I could have misunderstood the person telling me! Anyways, thank you so much for correcting me! I would have never known better without doing so! God bless you! =^D
@@lynnenicholson6968 There I just tried editing it! It shows that it went through on my end, but I have no idea whether or not if it shows the change on anybody else's end or not! You would probably have to let me know if you do NOT mind! Anyways, God bless you! =^D
@@MelodyHinkle you’re welcome I know someone who plays on a goalball team and our local social club was going to have a taster session so I looked it up to see if I could play it (unfortunately from what I’ve seen when defending the goal people lay on the floor and I’d never get up again.
@@lynnenicholson6968 Do not feel bad! I then got a person who was nothing but a joke who didn't take nothing serious and who got me in serious trouble when in reality he was the problem! I am so glad that I don't have him now! The problem is, I don't have NOONE now! Eek! I’m a manchester united fan too. In fact I have a signed football from the days when I was a child and Beckham played for manchester united.
I went to the 5-a-side at the 2012 Paralympics in London and loved it! I also loved going to the Goalball matches as well.

Thanks for the awareness, I began blind football in Uganda and seeing this clip is a great motivator

Hi Lucy Great video x
Nice to see Shrewsbury being part of this!!

I have been enlightened to a sport I didn't think could ever exist.

Her: Football!
Me, a Canadian: Soccer?
Tbh blind soccer is really hard if they added a speaker telling you were the goal is from which team would make it significantly easier

That outfit is adorable
This would actually make soccer fun
this is cool as shit

Damn she's enthusiastic!
I had no Idea blind people could play sports I think this is really cool 😎

Awesome 👏👏👏🥰🥰❤️❤️😍😍😘😘😘
Calling it football instead of soccer makes more sense, idk what the US ancestors were thinking
Okay so although it has real logical reason there's still something inherently funny to me about a blind person wearing a blindfold
I never liked football I'm school ! Was scared of the ball hotting my face
In year 3 a boy in my class was half blind and he had this ball he would kick around and it had things inside that would make noise 😄
So interesting. And I bet some people are really good.
