Just finished this project. It looks AMAZING. It was not simple or easy. Finding the right screw to connect the PVC cap to the coupler was nearly impossible. The bottles spun fine until I added the weight of the spray foam and paint to the top. Then it stopped working almost immediately. I don’t see how you could do this project without superglue to fuse the screw to the PVC cap - that’s the only way I got it working again. A fun fact I learned while working on this: Synchronous motors will reverse direction when they encounter something that overpowers their torque. That happened with my finished superglued product here, but it’s an added bonus, because the motions are less predictable (and more creepy). Happy haunting 😊
This was simple but also a pain in the butt. I used weather proof 1x6 boards, I screwed them into each other and stabilized them with 4 corner brackets. The screws I could find to fit the motor didn't work and eventually stripped the inside to where nothing would. I used JB Weld with attach the pipe to the motor after it failed 4 times doing it other ways to connect the motor to the pipe. Now that that works, the motor acts up. Sometimes it rotates fully, sometimes it seems to be "stuck", bouncing back and forth partially. I have readjusted it and looked at the ground, nothing is in its way. I gave up. It still looks like something trying to get out or moving under the grave. Instead of using the spray foal, I used fabric glue spray. Once I sprayed the burlap heavily, I added actual dirt, leaves, twigs, and Spanish moss from my trees and it made it look more realistic. I hung a red light in the tree above the grave and it gives it a creepy ambiance. I loved this idea so much. Thank you for sharing Carrie! Update: I figured out why it stopped rotating fully. The plastic sheet placed down under the burlap was the issue. The side of the plastic facing the ground was collecting condensation. When the plastic bottles hit the plastic, the water was causing friction which stopped the bottle form making the full rotation. So, to remedy that, I placed burlap down first, then the plastic sheet, then the burlap on top. The lower layer of burlap prevents the wetness from grabbing the plastic bottles. Yay!
The use of the spray foam really helps it look more natural. I did one of these last year but it was hard to make it look natural. It also poured on Halloween so it kept filling in with water and mud. It needed to be taught enough to not pool water but loose enough for the bottles to move. This prop is difficult in rain unless you have some semi porous material. I love how everyone on UA-cam take an idea and puts their own spin on it. You all make it easier for those of us that somehow became known as the people that have the coolest yard in town lol.
I am absolutely OBSESSED with your account! Not many people in the UK love halloween as much as I do but your videos are going to help me convince them!
Great job! You do the best tutorials. Keeping it simple but with a professional looking finished product. I think I’ll make one for my haunt this 2024 season
This is amazing. I wish I lived in a country that went all out on Halloween like they do in the US, but sadly, I don’t. They don’t even trick-or-treat where I live.
WOW, what an amazing prop! Simple to build but with an awsome effect! I will do this for sure too. Thank you so much. Ah, I can't wait to see a video of your Halloween haunt for this year. 🙂 Edit: I am glad that more and more people appriciate your videos too. Congrats to almost 5000 subscribers 🙂
This year I was throwing out an ottoman but I decided to strip it down for material instead. Glad I did because the core of it was basically a low box made of wood boards, and I could re use it as the frame of one of these with little modification. Mine is very slightly taller and smaller in footprint, but it still looks perfect for the cemetery.
Hi Carrie im making this at the moment, its all made except when its spinning its like it gets stuck half ways around and won't move anymore, the sheets are not 2 tight and im using a high torque motor. Its safe to say im stumped any advice please?
@@scarriehalloweenThank you so much for getting back to me! We’ve been trying to figure it out and couldn’t. Lol. You’re amazing. Keep doing what you do. We have a pretty big Halloween display we put on every year and we added this grave to it. Everybody absolutely loves it!
@@scarriehalloweenI noticed you gave a nut & a bolt in the motor. Did you use the nut or just the bolt? If you used both, what was the order? Bolt, pvc cap, nut, screw into motor?

Burlap: amzn.to/4dMJfla
Wow that is such a creative idea! Your graves have all the bells and whistles!

Yeah, that’s cool! Never would have thought it was bottles making it move. Awesome tips!
This has got to be one of your best projects, Carrie! Incredible! And scary!!
Thank you so much, Rach!! I love this one!!
Another great project. I don't know how you come up with so many good ones. thanks!
Thank you!!

We're about to do this this year. Question. Why not put a small hole or slit in the plastic so the water drains through?
You come up with the coolest ideas!

Hi! It’s possible that you need to add some glue to the screw on the motor end and/or to the PVC cap on the motor end!
What kind of glue would you recommend (super glue, pvc cement, etc)?
Love it!! Great job! What organ music did you use for the video?
Thank you! The song is called “Funeral March or the End of Feelings”. Found it on iTunes!
I attached everything like you said & the motor is spinning but it’s not turning the pvc pipe. Any suggestions?
@@MeghanCrowley it’s possible you need glue (or duct tape) to connect the pvc pipe to the motor cap. Try that!
Most definitely will be making this thank you so much
What type of screw and size of screw you used for the 1/2 in. cap to screw to the coupling ?

how are you protecting the power and motor from the elements?
The motor gets covered in the plastic and I put the cord in a Tupperware container.
