It's fantastic to watch someone as skilled as this. I'm here because my wife's car has this issue and I wanted to see what was involved in fixing it. Thank you for taking the time to post this.
Felicitaciones, hermano, sabía de la existencia de ese problema, pero no sabía lo que lo generaba. Tengo un mg3 idéntico, no he tenido ese problema, pero ya sé qué ocurriría si ocurriese. El modelo es CROSS
I know you showed the release bearing to be OK but would have replaced the whole clutch kit given the effort. I've had the Pg1 clutch release arm seize on a freelander, interesting they have the same fault on a different gearbox.
I have an MG 3 2012 model, that has a problem delayed shifting. Probably it's a solenoid problem. Where can I find the solenoid? Need to open the gearbox?
Thanks for the great video. I also have an MG3 but in my case I had a leaking slave cylinder. Any tips on how to bleed it after replacing? Do you need a second person to press the clutch, or is it possible to do it on your own?
Hello, how long did your first clutch last? I drive a ZS 1.5 .5000km. I'm going on vacation soon and will drive 3500 km. I'm afraid the clutch will fail.
@@pistonbroke I was trying to think of a way to prevent it but I’m not sure there is. The aluminum gearbox will always corrode in uk weather conditions. I guess you could smear grease into the end of the hole but that’s about it. Bit frustrating really.
@@Aircooledflat4bug put a big blob of grease on it. I put grease on them at PDI and those ones have never come in with a problem. All the ones that are left dry have issues. Low mileage cars suffer most as lack of use causes corrosion to build up.
Hello, great job, i have an automatic gear mg3 and i replaced my clutch kit 6 months ago, i always have the same problems, 1 my rear gear sometiems don’t work, the car vibrate a lot in first gear, do you have any idea to solve problems, thank you
We don't have the automatic in the UK so I've never seen one and had no experience with them. I do know that it's a manual gearbox with motors on it to control the shift and clutch, these motors need to be relearned when ever the clutch is replaced so that the ecu knows the correct biting point of the clutch. I can only suggest that you take it to a dealer and have them calibrate the clutch. If that doesn't fix it then the flywheel or clutch cover could be warped.
Any clue why a hydraulic system would have a clutch pedal with ALOT of resistance to the point car hurts your foot and hard to hold biting point? Changed EVERYTHING still stiffer then every other care I’ve tested of same model??
@@pistonbroke oh I should of said I have a Ford Focus with concentric slave design so it isn’t the common problem you had with the release mechanism thing?…
Really Great video really easy to follow ,i suprised how tight the shaft was ,I change clutch and bearing as low and oil filter while cover off went back together no problem but now have bad rattling/vibrating noise when rev the engine so may have to drop down again ,any ideas?
Can't think of anything at the gearbox end that would cause that noise. Did you turn the engine backwards when tightening the clutch? The valve timing can jump if the engine is turned the wrong way, especially on a pre 2016 car.
What year is the car? If it's pre 2016 (non stop/start) and the chain has never been done then yes I would fit the modified chain kit. Can you tell what area the noise is coming from?
Thank you for this video but want to ask you what type of gear oil u used for the AMT gear box as I have same car but now it's showing me on the board that it's over heating signal so what could the reason and what type of oil I can use for the AMT if I want to change it
this could have been my fate if i were still in my old stomping ground Mitsubishi sadly now mg starting to see more on the roads again now so i will look out for this in future as i suspect i will see a plenty like this in Scotland Scotland's good at rotting cars used to love mot testing cars in winter that salty drip all day fantastic lol

Putting mine in reverse does not seem to open the clutch fully as it clunk's into reverse.Mines only done 8k miles. What do you recommend sir,is it a simple adjust or is it a sign of clutch wear,or something completely different. mg3 MT and AMT it a same transmission? I have mg3 AMT in thailand. it doesn’t have MT here i want to conversion my transmission because AMT is not smooth

Awesome and helpful video, thanks for covering the whole job from start to finish.
thanks so much, with your video I was abble to do same job and also replace the clutch kit on my 2015 MG3 with automated transmission.

Clutch is fine, there was no need to replace it.
And me, bloody Freelander cost me a fortune everything broke on it

Where is your garage?
Ive got a similar problem id like to have sorted.
Many thanks

Pressure bleed is the best way. They can be a pain to get all the air out.
@@pistonbroke Thanks for the quick reply and advice. Much appreciated.

Good video. Shame the bush isn't brass rather than plastic. It would not have pinched the shaft if it was.
It's all to do with minimal production costs to maximise profit these days.

Has anyone tried replacing this without taking the gearbox off?
No, you can't do it with the gearbox in.
What a ball ache 😂
It's not, they are a piece of piss to do.
The big question is how much?
Depends where you take it and your chosen garages labour rate.
@@pistonbroke yours I meant I found out today 😷 😂
Where are you from
South Wales
All that work for £2 to £3 bit of plastic, poor design.
Yep... taking my MG3 in on monday for its Second clutch failure... first was at 20k miles and this ones at 50k miles....
...that is 50k total... i.e. I'm getting just 25k miles per clutch!
