The NBA just signed a $76B dollar deal with ESPN, Amazon, and NBC. If Knicks play their cards right it may suck this year but next year they’ll be fine. The only deal to really worry about is Brunson’s.

They made slick moves. High top-end salaries but no dud contracts. Smart for KP was a huge win because they’re in absolute win-now mode. But they’re in the second apron and will be next year too, easy. Knicks aren’t at that level yet, so the prospect of being second apron without being a clear top 3 team is daunting.

The Bogey contract will set the tone on how we operate this summer. By keeping him & fully guaranteeing his 19mil salary, it puts a strangle hold on us b/c re-signing OG & iHart will be possible but, at the cost of 2nd apron tax penalties, we’ll end up stuck AND be limited in the flexibility of acquiring potential talent. I don’t see Brock Aller advising Leon to go down this path, knowing it leads to such turmoil for the future. Sorry but Bogey is replaceable. 35 years old, coming off ankle & wrist surgery. I love his shooting but he’s a liability on defense. I’m letting him hit free agency & keeping this thing rolling w/ the guys around him. It’s as plain & simple as that. ✌🏾 bogey & thank you for your time as a NY Knick but this is where we have to part ways

We should keep an eye open on major star trades that could resolve some of our cap space issues. But if they fail to materialize, I would move Mitch and Bogs and not resign Precious. I think that getting OG to his big deal is already our commitment but he is injury prone. Mitch is also injury prone. Those two together on one team is too much risk. IHart cannot do some of the things Mitch can, but he is still excellent rebounder and defender and does more than Mitch on offense, AND he is durable. It's a no brainer that we try to sign IHart and try to move Mitch, Bogs, picks and get maybe some future picks, a less expensive player or two.
It seems like the rules make it impossible to build a quality team that can stay together. And it’s hard to root for a team when very few players can stick around for very long. I root for players not just uniforms. Once a player builds his equity, he boots! I love this Knicks team because they had a proletarian vibe. I don’t begrudge them earning stupid money…or maybe I do.
I don't respect none of these comments that want to break the Knicks up 🤨

As history serves, Rose doesn't just spend money. So I don't see any contracts being detrimental to the team.
In shaking up the roster means the breaking up of the Villanova three and giving up Randle. It also appears that McBride may be a casualty of the shake up. Also with the players the Knicks want to get, Thibs must be willing to play more than six players, if not Thibs has to go. You can not win a championship playing six players.
Man you say giving up Randle, for who??? He makes less money than any other All NBA player and has averaged 71 games a year until this year! Keep the young inexpensive talent and roll with the team we have 😮

Trade Mitch unfortunately and trade Bogey. They can both be replaced although missed (mainly mitch since he’s homegrown) we can get more scoring via trade or fill needs in 2way wings in the draft. We need to prioritize a backup facilitating point guard so deuce can shine in his role as a 2way guard and be a catch and shoot / bucket getter.
Can you get rid of Mitch, and Bogey to free up some money ? You have Sims, and there's supposed to be a rookie available who is athletic and a huge wingspan . Randall can play some center behind Hartstein . Keep Achua, and Burks for some added depth.

Most good teams have multiple rookie/cheap deals in their rotation. The Knicks are basically paying all of their players market value.

The Knicks had 8 players making 10+ million this year in their rotation.
Boston: 6
Denver: 5
Dallas: 6
Bucks: 5
The Knicks pay the back end of their rotation more than most other good teams do because other teams have more cheap/rookie deals in their rotations. Period.

The chances of keeping IHart have to be less than 10%. Someone is going to offer him $20MM+ over 3 or 4, so the only way he stays is if he flat out decides he's willing to settle for $3MM less per year to stay with the Knicks. And if you lose IHart, I think you have to keep Mitch, right? I mean -- we're not really thinking Edey could be an immediate starter even if he's available at 24?
Fair point, but I'd put the chances much higher. iHart has a good chance to get another deal down the line with the Knicks. If the Knicks win a chip (or come close) with iHart, they will pay whatever it takes to keep the team together. I think a team offering him a bigger role in the offense could be the thing that pries him away, not just the money.
@@Michael_Page They could sign him to a one year deal which would give them full Bird rights next offseason and the chance to sign him to a much bigger contract. But he would be taking a big risk. If he gets hurt and can no longer play at the same level it could cost him a hundred million. Tough not to take the guaranteed money while you have the chance. At the end of the day, it's still a business.
20M will look like a steal once that tv money comes in. Trade Mitch and Bogey for 2nd round picks and young talent and sign iHart to 3/60. Big Mitch been a pro for 6 years and still can’t execute a basic up jump hook or up and under.

If there is a major shakeup to the Knicks core, the Knicks will most likely find themselves out of contention. The Knicks must find a way to re-sign Hartenstein and OG. And only trade Randle for a Sabonis or a Giannis. The Knicks must remember the kind of record and numbers they put up right after the OG trade. When this team was healthy, they were essentially undefeated/unstoppable. If they do dumbass' Dolan's bidding and give the Knicks a major facelift, the Knicks will take major steps backwards.

There was only one game that the Knicks lost during the stretch when the Knicks first traded for OG. The Knicks lost because Randle played terribly and he didn't hustle. I would only trade Randle for a player who shows up every night.....like a Giannis or a Sabonis.

A player can show up and still have a bad game. These players give it their all every night. Randle does not. I'd trade Randle for a player who shows up every night.
And I actually like Randle. He was having his best season before he got hurt. But there are games where he doesn't play that hard offensively, defensively, or both.
In order for the Knicks to be winners, they need players whose heart is in it every night. GMs, coaches, fellow teammates, and fans can hold a player to whatever standard they desire.

Next, hate to say it but for the number of games he will be available, Bogdanovic is worth more than Mitch and Mitch's contract still should be easier to move because of his upside and declining salary, though I think both have salaries that decline. If they sign IHart I could see them trade Mitch.
Bogey is 35 coming off Wrist & Ankle surgery. Yes you can question the health & availability of Mitch but you cannot tell me that bogey has more value than Mitch does. I simply do not believe that. You can always find shooters, you can’t always find rim protectors
