    Both centers will be here. Thibs values 48 minutes of rim protection and in Chicago they were not only paying Noah but Asik was one of the highest paid backup centers in the league. Precious is much better as a backup 4 to Randle.

    This team will not be under the cap again until it's rebuild time and being in the largest market in America, having to pay the luxury tax doesn't mean anything. Dolan has shown that he's willing to do that. With that being the case, the only reasons to get rid of either is if you need to use their salary in a trade, or if I-Hart becomes a free agent and the asking price goes way above his actual value. Other than that, you use the loophole of being able to sign your own players and go over the cap. The additions to this team have to come via trade. The free agency ship has sailed, and along with it, nearly any need to be frugal.

    rather trade Mitch and keep precious on the cheap, or draft a rookie center to back up I-hart

  • @RobertHait-xo5oh
    @RobertHait-xo5oh 7 місяців тому

    the Knicks have the qualifying offer of 6 mil for Precious, but some team may swoop in with a bigger offer. considering on the Knicks his role is as the back-up PF, occasionally back-up C, we are looking at 15-18 MPG, so how much is Leon willing to pay for that? particularly since that could further affect the luxury tax apron and all the further trades/MLE signings.
    far as I-Hart, Early Bird restricts the Knicks to offering him just over $13 mil, if memory serves. I think with the current market value it will take Hartenstein giving Leon the discount on his services in order for the Knicks to retain him.
    I’d say at this point, Mitch is the surest thing to still be on the roster next season. but, let’s say, the Knicks are able to re-sign I-Hart, between him and Mitch (and with Mitch’s contract structured on the declining scale), we are talking about roughly 25 to 27 mil for two quality bigs. that’s some 16 to 18 million less than Rudy Gobert is making on his own, and we don’t even have to give up any first round picks to make it happen. also, I realize that now is far from perfect time to make an argument for the tandem at C, seeing as how the both of them have been out for extended periods, but I have to believe that 25-year-old pair of Mitch and I-Hart have enough in the tank to give us quality minutes. worst case scenario, they will be on very team-friendly contracts and could be leveraged in trades

    Have to keep IHart. He's too important to the flow of the offense. Mitch clogging up the middle, keeps his man close to the basket and makes it hard for everyone else to work in the paint and get to the basket. Plus IHart has played good defense and easily out rebounds Mitch in total rebounds, plus those passes and assists. Remember how Bam destroyed Mitch in the playoffs. We don't need all of those offensive rebounds because the offense executes so well without Mitch. Oh and let's not forget Mitch doesn't run the court, can't set a good pick or pass. Doesn't have good court vision. Not going to win a championship with him.

      Salaries in trades have to match within 15%. Because the assets going back in a trade for a star player (picks, young players) often don’t have the same kind of salary attached to them that a star would, you need a player that makes a chunk of money (preferably on an ending contract) to make things work with salaries.

    If they can only keep one, NY should focus on the player that makes them elite on at least one side of the ball. . With Mitch the Knicks are an elite defensive team - with iHart they are Not. On the flip-side - with iHart the NY are a better offensive team, but nowhere near elite. The teams that have a shot to win a chip either have elite shot-making or play lockdown defense.
    The stats show - when healthy, the Knicks are way closer to being a lockdown defensive team than an elite offensive team.

    • @karlramsay9203
      @karlramsay9203 6 місяців тому

      @@newyorkguy158 - the Knicks improvement on defense was not because Mitch was out. The OG trade had a lot more to do with it than Mitch being out of the lineup. You pair those two guys and you have both the paint and the perimeter locked down.
      As far as Bam destroying Mitch - he was getting caught late on rotations - because Thibs kept having Mitch show on the perimeter to put length on their 3-point shooters and Spoelstra just kept designing the plays to draw the bigs out to the perimeter and dump the ball in the post for an easy dunk. Thats on Thibs being out-coached and not on Mitch doing what he is asked to do.

      @@karlramsay9203 Mitch doesn't fit our new identity and style of play. He's a big liability on offense, because he clogs the paint. IHart is not a liability on offense or defense, he's an asset on both sides and perfectly fits with our offensive game. Especially given Mitch's injury history, I think the FO will choose IHart over Mitch, if one has to go. If both stay, IHart has to start.

      @@newyorkguy158 - I agree 100% with you that Mitch is injury prone which is a cause for concern. But this idea that iHart fits our identity and style of play better could only be true if we building a high powered offensive team. We are not. That is not our identity and style. Statistically Mitch is one of the best shot blockers in the league - and definitely the best offensive rebounder. This idea that we are going to run an gun teams out the building is a pipe dream. The Tre Young style of basketball doesn't work. Mitch does all the things the average fan doesn't see or pay attention to (picks, box-out, tip-passes etc.). The final thing I will say is this - whether its Mitch or iHart, I trust this version of the FO to make the right decision for the team, as we try to overcome Boston (the gold-standard) in the east and compete for a chip.

      @@karlramsay9203 I didn't say run and gun. Ball movement, player movement and pushing the ball upcourt whenever we can. Mitch doesn't fit that style of play. He can't shoot, so his man stays close to the basket. That clogs the paint for Randle and all cutters, OG, Donte, Precious, and makes it harder for Brunson to get to the basket. IHart is a very good defensive player and he can outrebound Mitch. Absolutely. Mitch can get more offensive rebounds but our 9-0 run without him and great winning record when he was out proved that we don't need those offensive rebounds to win, and IHart gets plenty of them too. Mitch doesn't fit our style of play which is tough defense, passing, cutting and ball movement.

    1st Team: Brunson, Bojan, OG, Randle, Mitch---------insane. 2nd Team: Divencenzo, Burke, Hart, Achiuwa, Hartenstein. Simms, McBride, Toppin, 8 picks.

      That would be the worst defensive backcourt in the league. Bojan is strictly a 3/4

    Isaiah Hartenstein is a pleasant surprise at how good he is and yet often leaves me questioning why he doesn't shoot the three.
    When we match up against Lopez, Embiid, Porzingis and Joker Isaiah Hartenstein is the one I think can do that...Yet he plays within his own comfort zone of pass first play and that is what is charming about watching him play. Certainly if Isaiah Hartenstein could look to shoot the three not for himself rather for the spacing to Randle then we already have what we need and it would be a shame to lose him to a higher bidder.
    Is it anymore redundant to have Divincenzo and Hart at the two as it is to have Mitch and Isaiah? Mitch has a greater upside yet two years in a row with injuries could you really just have him? Or could the losing really lead to a draft day trade up for Alex Sarr?
    While we're losing I'd like to see Hartenstein take more three point shots. Not for himself rather for Randle.

      I've been saying here for a long time now that IHart is not being used properly. He can space the floor and just as Precious is taking the 3, IHart should be taking a few a game.

      @@KnicksFanTV KARL ANTHONY TOWNS‼️‼️‼️I see something brewing up in the offseason…MITCH IS A SOLID DEFENDER NO OFFENSE Tho MAN AND HE STANDS UNDER THE BASKET WAITING FOR A LOB no Jumper no post moves nothing Myles Turner came in the league raw like Mitch what did he do..create a jumper post move Mitch not the answer…When Ihart was on his A game he was better but I think they getting KAT DIS OFFSEASON THINK SO…imagine that‼️

      @@KnicksFanTVI think the FO has already decided this question in favor of IHart. Even if you think they are equal, which I don't, not at all, Mitch's injuries and lack of offensive improvement tip the scales in favor of IHart.

      Knicks 9-0 run without Mitch and great record over twice as many games means IHart has won the position. Mitch's injuries and lack of an offensive game will put him in play after the season ends. Question is, will anyone want him?
