Agreed, but find some smoked paprika, adds a nice flavor. Also dont wrap leftovers in aluminum foil, i did once and for some reason the aluminum foil disintegrated where it was touching the mac, maybe it reacted to the paprika, dont know but it was weird.

Just made it today for Mother's Day! The kids LOVED it! The adults drooled! I think what I really liked about it is that it is made from real ingredients. I used a really large cast iron pan, which added to the "look", and kept the warmth in of the hot, melty mac N cheese. I'm going to add crumbled bacon and a little bit of panko to the topping next time for a different taste. That girl CAN cook! It was delicioso!!!!! Gracias!! Please add the mozzarella cheese to the ingredients list. I had to remember the Mozzarella cheese list and the oven temp is 375.

I usually take a recipe and run like a thief in the night but I tripped over the foot you put in this! I had to comment and give credit and I have tried everybody's mac n cheese. I mean some fancy stuff; rouxs, like you say Velveeta all kinds of fancy cheese.. but this was simple fast and when you said we not going to have no dry mac- you didn't lie. I would not add anymore heavy cream or take away the cream cheese. It's prefect just the way you made it and the mozzarella on top was very pretty and a better texture when it got golden than cheddar.

I woke up early this morning searching for the 'right' recipe. I have been tasked with bringing the Mac n cheese for Thanksgiving this week. This is scared. @@mckalez Smoked Gouda, Vermont White Cheddar, Muenster, and gotta have that aged Gruyere. But sometimes I just use whatever leftover chunks and bits I have in the chesse drawer. It's cheese so nothing is a bad choice I think.

I made this for my husband tonight I didn't have enough shredded cheese. So I used munster cheese slices on the top it tasted so good. Also added some creole. It was creamy not as creamy as I wanted it to be. I made a whole box of pasta. But my husband enjoyed it! Next time I'll add more cheese maybe more cream cheese as well. I made this with smothered pork chops in garlic and mushroom gravy.

Do you mean 16oz pasta? That's probably also why it wasn't as creamy because you would need to double the cheese sauce for double the noodles (if that's what you meant)

Oh, Em, Gee! I tried doing this last night and substituted the heavy cream with half evaporated milk and half oat milk. I was really trying to get sharp cheddar cheese from the supermarket, but ended up getting medium cheddar.It turned out to be the best macaroni and cheese i have ever done. Warning:This is the sort of thing you should cook if you are cooking for a group that will finish it up before letting it be preserved in the fridge overnight. Food (including baked food) normally has a way of tasting better on the second day. This tastes best straight after it's been baked. For so many times I struggled to make bomb mac and cheese. You made it simple to follow and it turned out great though...just need to have people eat it up in a day.

I love 4-State Cheddar, the best. I will say, I was shocked at the heavy cream, not milk thickened with flour, but hmmmm. I was brought up down South, mac and cheese was considered a green vegetable, I know my mom layered it with more shredded cheese, or little cubes, such a treat to find the extra yum. Great recipe!

Just made it today for Mother's Day! The kids LOVED it! The adults drooled! I think what I really liked about it is that it is made from real ingredients. I used a really large cast iron pan, which added to the "look", and kept the warmth in of the hot, melty mac N cheese. I'm going to add crumbled bacon and a little bit of panko to the topping next time for a different taste. That girl CAN cook! It was delicioso!!!!! Gracias!! Please add the mozzarella cheese to the ingredients list. I had to remember the Mozzarella cheese list and the oven temp is 375.

I usually take a recipe and run like a thief in the night but I tripped over the foot you put in this! I had to comment and give credit and I have tried everybody's mac n cheese. I mean some fancy stuff; rouxs, like you say Velveeta all kinds of fancy cheese.. but this was simple fast and when you said we not going to have no dry mac- you didn't lie. I would not add anymore heavy cream or take away the cream cheese. It's prefect just the way you made it and the mozzarella on top was very pretty and a better texture when it got golden than cheddar.

@@mckalez Smoked Gouda, Vermont White Cheddar, Muenster, and gotta have that aged Gruyere. But sometimes I just use whatever leftover chunks and bits I have in the chesse drawer. It's cheese so nothing is a bad choice I think.

I made this for my husband tonight I didn't have enough shredded cheese. So I used munster cheese slices on the top it tasted so good. Also added some creole. It was creamy not as creamy as I wanted it to be. I made a whole box of pasta. But my husband enjoyed it! Next time I'll add more cheese maybe more cream cheese as well. I made this with smothered pork chops in garlic and mushroom gravy.

Do you mean 16oz pasta? That's probably also why it wasn't as creamy because you would need to double the cheese sauce for double the noodles (if that's what you meant)

Oh, Em, Gee! I tried doing this last night and substituted the heavy cream with half evaporated milk and half oat milk. I was really trying to get sharp cheddar cheese from the supermarket, but ended up getting medium cheddar.It turned out to be the best macaroni and cheese i have ever done. Warning:This is the sort of thing you should cook if you are cooking for a group that will finish it up before letting it be preserved in the fridge overnight. Food (including baked food) normally has a way of tasting better on the second day. This tastes best straight after it's been baked. For so many times I struggled to make bomb mac and cheese. You made it simple to follow and it turned out great though...just need to have people eat it up in a day.

I love 4-State Cheddar, the best. I will say, I was shocked at the heavy cream, not milk thickened with flour, but hmmmm. I was brought up down South, mac and cheese was considered a green vegetable, I know my mom layered it with more shredded cheese, or little cubes, such a treat to find the extra yum. Great recipe!

I was born and raised in the South as well. i've find myself making it many ways including eggs, no eggs, flour and roux, but this by far has been one of the EASIEST methods I've ever done and it tastes so much better and requires less time.
