My favorite part about Horatio Lore is that with all the scheming and clones replacing each other, it’s never directly proven that the original ‘Horatio Prime’ of ES2 is even the ‘OG Horatio’. There is a real chance the original Horatio is long gone and everyone is a clone of a clone.
We're guided to believe that the true Horatio, Prime if you will, is always represented with a big yellow jewel on his forehead.
It's probably removable, though.
@@DeadSun maybe the Horatios are like the Grechin of "da Kommitee" or more precise "Da Red Gobbo", it is suspected by many grot scholars of Gorkamorka,, as much of a scholar as any okoids can be, that the original Red Gobo is long dead, and that by putting on his goggles and hat, any gobo can become him, taking on his personality and intelligence, since you know the power of belief is strong in the Greenskins, also all of the gobos joining his forced get "da juice" so they are already smarter then the average grot, so that would explain how the Red Gobo never dies! Maybe that's how Horatio does it too, maybe when he nears his death he creates a clone with his memories and thus lives on forever, and maybe the original body was held somewhere in cryo for genetic material, and maybe the original Horatio was never the Original maybe he was the first clone to be created and did like the dread told the true original and murdered his creator, keeping him in stasis somewhere for genetic material and pretending his genes were the ones used!
I Would love a Horatio political game that is the likes of CK.

Yes, the faction quest starts with the player (really named Four) secretly replacing Horatio Prime and convincing/bribing everyone to think Prime is actually Four.
But my point was that there are several instances of Horatios trying to become ‘Horatio Prime’:
-Salario Domus 63 is supposedly building his own cloning lab where everyone is a clone of Salario.
-Five leads a rebellion in the quest claiming he is the real Horatio Prime.
-Four (aka the old Prime) is accused of secretly building a rogue cloning facility in the main quest line.
-In the Spin-off/ parody dating sim, the secret ending has the player (a Horatio Clone) planning to kill ‘Horatio Prime’ and take his place.
So it is possible that the person who we know as the original ‘Horatio Prime’ could be a fake who overthrew the one before him long ago.
My favourite lore tidbit, not sure whether it was ES1 or ES2, pretty sure it was flavour for one of the techs tho, is how Horatio ships are jam-packed with Horatio and equipped with giant windows to pretty up the space they're passing through.

I read that comic myself and upon seeing that protector class ship at the end, my thoughts were: this is not the original Horatio, it can not be, the dreams he had support it. My thoughts is the Horatio presented in the novel is a cloned design for exploration, to seek treasures as for hymself, yet ultimately not for hymself. Let me explain:
1. getting that protector class ship it is not easy, the original Horatio starts with an exploration class ship and a coloniser. Moreover,, there is a quest to get an Horatio exploration ship to one of your systems with some population space in order to deliver the Horatio population cargo. No one has access to protector class ships, not the original Horatio, untill after his plans are well in order, nor do the ones in that quest. They should have scavanger, technologist, primitives or eusocial ships at the beginning, ships as that pod he used to escape with.
2. Those dreams he had, although I do not believe it is the best Horatio would have been capable of, it was what the authors decided to present to us, as an incentive for that clone to go and seek treasures, riches, artefacts, anything that would bring value to Horatio. And the best way to do it is by having a clone think it works for itself, when in reality, after he thought he achived it, Horatio would came to collect them.
That comic described the life of a normal clone, a life packed with dreams, strugles, raw human behaviour, only to be treated as a comodity by Horatio.
Horatio is my favorite Sci-fi concept.

Endless Space was for a long time one of my favorite sci-fi settings and it often feels underappreciated. The serene feeling this world invokes, with story, visuals, music and the game is... well, it adds a bit of optimism and hope ot life.

I won't pretend to understand what the Concrete Endless were thinking, but the idea that they were happy to broadcast the name of the planet where they were keeping all of their most nasty bio-experiments is just hilarious to me!

With the whole Auriga thing, I think it's more of a case of "they knew about Auriga, but didn't know where *exactly* it was" as in the computer didn't know they were over Auriga until it intercepted a transmission (read: threat) by the Auriga defense network. That, or, they knew enough about Endless tech to where they can use transmissions and broadcasts to make a 90% educated guess just based on what is being relayed. So in all cases I am pretty sure there was some message or code that allowed the nav-system to identify that it was in fact Auriga and make a bee-line for it. Much like how in Alien they were pretty much told "yeah you gotta go to this planet with the weird transmission and get the things there, or you get no money"
This series feels like a luetin video but shorter and endless universe instead, and UA-cam agrees, I got recommended a luetin video just now lol.

The earliest image we have of Horatio is him as a child with elongated head. So he was either born with it, or he was modified by his parents at an extremely young age. However, because all of the clones also have elongated heads, I'm inclined to believe that he was born with it.
@@DeadSun The ES2 intro makes it very clear that he was just born with this deformity and a large part of his motivation is the mockery and and abuse he suffered from it. Essentially out of spite he started seeing himself as the perfect beauty and everyone else as a low life philistine. It honestly adds a lot to his character and makes him way more sympathetic.

To be honest this video ruined Horatio for me a bit. I haven't dive deep into the lore especially that this is a first and only channel I found that is covering it so I ussualy played by inserting my head cannon beetwen the snip bits of lore that the games give us. And until now I perceived Horatio as a self made billionaire who was perfect in almost every way but was shamed becouse of his skull deformities. And now I learn that he is just a guy that become rich just because he stumbled into some artifacts. I really enjoy Prideful characters but only when they really are better than everyone else and now I really can't find a reason to perceive Horatio in such a way. But anyway great video, can't wait to see more from this channel.
To be fair, it’s a fitting analogy for most real world billionaires.
I mean he still had to figure out cloning and gene splicing and all the endless tech by himself, that's no mean feat!
I mean, he didn't really stumble into them, the comic makes it clear that it was all part of his elaborate plan and a result of long research. He's pleasantly surprised with quality of stuff he got, but it's pretty clear he knows exactly what he went to Auriga for. And he also proves to be an asshole, but it's Horatio we're talking about, that shouldn't be surprising.
I am convinced that any Horatio fan either doesn't know that much about him or likes him ironically. Personally I see him as a big nerd that deserves an atomic wedgie. In one game I (Unfallen) core cracked Horatio Prime just because of how much of a big fat nerd he is.
“Luck Is What Happens When Preparation Meets Opportunity". Give the same Tech to other people, they will fail. There is no difference between the two stories you present. How many simple people will squander 1million dollars and even become indebted if given.
