Great tips! Bought a second hand XC bike, and would have loved doing an Epic some time. As luck would have it I snapped my steerer stem yesterday, so gotta do some research on how to get it repaired

Great video!! Wondering if you could clarify some things for me… why not use a hydration pack of some sort? That way you can rid yourself of the bottle and be able to carry all those tools in the pack. Then you won’t have all that on the bike itself..
Do find it better/easier to try and plug flats rather than throwing a tube in? If the puncture is that large where sealant wont fix it, doesnt that mean its pretty large.. wondering if it would be harder/more time to try and plug rather than putting a tube in. Also, if the hole is that large wont the tire sealant have leaked out and wont completely seal the plug?

We do using the USWE hydration packs and ride with one bottle.
Also we generally don’t carry tools in the pack, tools on the bike has quicker access.
With the flats, plugs can generally fix any flat, tune is last resort.
We also ride with spare 60ml sealant.

Congrats on finishing. Got a question on the grips. You mentioned them in one of your daily updates. Why don't you look at using Ergon GP1's? They take a heap of strain off your hands.
Hey 👋, I tried those years ago and did not work for me. They are really comfortable though and will be great option on super long gravel road races. The chunky grip seams to work fine. ✌️✌️
Big diameter is comfortable but makes arm pump worse. If you never get arm pump they are excellent.
Try doing pull ups on a 32/38/50mm diameter bar, you'll notice you're grip strength declines on every rep with bigger diameter bars
