RACING AT 2,000km/h!!! The 5 Best WipEout and F-Zero Alternatives!

- Опубліковано 23 лип 2024
- WipEout was a defining PlayStation launch title in 1995 thanks to its thrilling sense of speed, stylish visuals, and iconic soundtrack. Despite its enduring popularity though, we haven’t had a new WipEout game since WipEout 2048 on the PlayStation Vita in 2012. Nintendo has seemingly forgotten about F-Zero, too. Renowned for its blistering speed and brutal difficulty, F-Zero pushed the SNES to its limits when it launched in 1991, with its ground-breaking Mode 7 graphics. With no new WipEout or F-Zero games on the horizon, the futuristic racing genre has seen a rapid decline. Or has it? These are our picks for the 5 best WipEout and F-Zero alternatives.

I think this is a well rounded list. Though, of the games here, only one I didn't like was Antigraviator. That trap system just doesn't work. That or I can't understand it, in spite of spending a full year and some change on it.
Redout 2 on the other hand is phenomenal and hopefully more players try it.
I'm solo developing an F-Zero like on Steam using Blender and UE5. It's been in development for 2 years now.
Name?
You wanna share?
BallisticNG is amazing imo
As a pro level Redout 2 play, I would love for it to get more exposure, it’s so underrated. And it’s max speed you can reach is 4,000kmph which is without a doubt the fastest racing game you can buy.
Redout and Wipeout NEVER made it to the heights that F Zero did. Sure they were nice looking, but they never pulled off the experience of speed. I'm happy to say that the dev that made Spark the Electric Jester has created the very game I've always hoped to see. This guy knows speed and precision and I highly recommend that you play the XF demo on Steam. I think it might even surpass the speed that F Zero GX had. IT'S INSANE!!!!! and everything I've ever wanted.
@@kukukachu redout isn’t trying to be fzero, it’s it’s own thing, that’s what people get wrong… yes it’s inspired by it, but it can also be it’s own thing. And I wish I could play xf, I’ve watched gameplay and love the music. But I’m Xbox. I own no pc…unfortunately
It defintely looks like it's more inspired by Pod Racer, so I'll give you that. I'm sorry you don't have a PC :< @@malakaithedemigod
@@kukukachu yea it blows, but I’m not gonna complain. A series x is all I need and a iPad Pro. So I can edit and make gameplay’s on redout 1 and 2. I pay homage to fzero and dnb racing music in my gameplays.
As long as it works for you, that's all the matters in the end.@@malakaithedemigod
I don’t get how they keep pumping out lame realistic style racers but leave us speed futuristic hovercraft racers with about 3 or 4 decent games in over 5 years!
Don’t tell me there’s no demand for it. There is!
It is a shame there is no Extreme G / XTRA
Great video, the only thing I'm missing is your opinion on Aero GPX, Super Pilot and maybe Flash Out 3!
I think Quantum Redshift on the OG Xbox, while not as new, still holds up.
Anti gravitator seems inspired by Mag Force racing on Dreamcast...
Thank you for Antigravitor and Ballisticng, very good video!
Now this is pod racing!
My favorite star wars moment.
The fastest racing game I experience was N64 Star Wars Pod Racers.
Try to drive 1000Km/h vehicle with capped 15 FPS. XD
i would love to play Fast RMX.. but with it being nintendo exclusive i would first have to buy the console...and doing that, for 1 single game sounds way to much of an investment.
You had 2015 instead of 2020, but said it was 2020, for Pacer.
For people that never played Wipeout or F-Zero, Redout is not a game to start with. Its controls are too frantic and like F-Zero GX too slippy for even my taste. So Redout 2 is more like F-Zero.
Pacer is where it's at. Some developers who also worked on Wipeout helped to create this beauty. The graphics, the music, the controls. And even the punishment when you hit the side rails, it is a clear successor to the Wipeout franchise. A clear winner.
Fast Rmx is indeed like F-Zero GX and the controls are off the hook again. I simply do not like that gameplay style. Am I racing heavy and armed vehicles or surfboards?
The forth recommendation seems like it is worth a look. Will do.
So, this is Ballistic NG? Oh I gonna take that for way more than just one dollar.
Do you recommend pacer? I am a huge wipeout fan! Original wipeout 1-3 psx days, pure, pulse, hd … but redout is too slippery. Is pacer similar to any wipeout control?
Bng is definitely worth the time if every Wipeout fan imo. There's even a setting for the physics and gameplay to be more like Wipeout pulse, HD, and 2048 if you prefer that over the classic physics from the games before.
Plus the mod support is insane and adds more content than you can chew through in any decent amount of time.
I actually feel Redout is much less flighty than AGs that use an avionics model. You're mostly sticking to the ground so you always have control of the vehicle and strafing can be used to adjust the radius you're taking a curve at, or adjust your attack coming into one.
On games like Wipeout you feel like you're constantly being pulled with a rope and you're constantly performing damage control, just trying not to get tossed around. Going faster then doesn't just mean doing everything better, the track transforms as you're decreasingly able to stick to the ground and need to approach it in an entirely different way.
@@cdgonepotatoes4219Redout 2 is more or less an arcade style racing game but the fastest I've ever seen and played, when you're casually flying around tracks at nearly triple the speed of sound I don't think anything comes as close on sheer speed alone except for perhaps F-Zero
@@TheSilverShadow17 there was a game now nearly forgotten by time, Ballistics, a first-person pipe-racing game where you could achieve Mach 8. It doesn't use any tricks to give a sense of speed save for a definite change in tone when you surpass the speed of sound, just gives you the raw experience of being a bullet screaming down the barrel of s gun.
We are never gonna get another Wipeout cause of stupid Sony... I can't find the article anymore where it stated Sony owns the Name and the publishing rights for Wipeout but they don't own the IP. If I remember correctly they wanted to make a new game but Sony was pressuring them to sell the IP but the Devs said no, therefore, the next Wipeout was never made smfh So if you can support PACER buy the game or get it on sale cause half the team Devs are from Wipeout. Hopefully, we will get another PACER. Also, I do remember the same situation happened with Twisted Metal another game that will never be made again because Sony is greedy!
From your list Grip has become solid after all those updates and I still play it, PACER and GRIP are the ones I play all the time. I tried Redout, it's fun and looks good but I can't get into it cause it doesn't have the weapons like the other two.
No idea where you read such false information since Sony Interactive Entertainment acquired Psygnosis in 1993 then fully funded the 1995 creation of Wipeout as their own property, Twisted Metal was created in house by Sony Interactive Studios America fully funded & owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment
@@bamban_garcia5562 So you read my comment and didn't even bother to search... ok the info from Wipeout came on Twitter from the Devs from Pacer themselves saying it... ever heard of the game WipEout Rush... was supposed to come to the mobile market in 2021? Yeah, they got bought from Sony but not all games were in the deal. Ex: Xbox buys Rare but the deal didn't include all their IPs... like Donkey Kong.
Now Twisted Metal info came from the IGN website years ago. Same thing Sony owns the name and publishing rights but the IP. The main Dev was mad that Sony forced the release of the last Twisted Metal and failed because they didn't have time and was half the product he had envisioned. He leaves but Sony begs him to come back, Sony lets him create a game he was working on... can't remember the game name but it was an online third-person shooter and the graphics looked like you drew on a scatch book. Was black and white but the power-ups were in color and the blood was in color. Sony didn't like it but the back deal was after this game he would work on a new Twisted Metal game. But again Sony fucked him over from the money side to make the game and his game didn't get any exposure. The Dev got mad and told Sony to fuck off and will never work with them again.
Now from what was said in the Tweets and IGN article, no other Devs/team can touch those IPs cause the Devs from those two IPs, they own the rights for it.
@@chi-townmex9346 Sony Interactive Entertainment funded / created both Twisted Metal as well as Wipeout as their own Intellectual Properties back in the early 90s during the original PlayStation era meaning the fully own every version created no matter the studio behind them
Wipeout Rush was rebranded into Wipeout Merge before its release
What rush exactly Twisted Metal reboot was meant to release in August 2011 yet was delayed over a year to October 2012
Drawn To Life released in 2017 the entire studio shut down in 2018 project was fully supported to late 2019
@@bamban_garcia5562 Um WipEout was also released on PC, IBM, Sega Saturn, and N64 but think whatever you want I could care less. I told you what happened and where the info is located so you can read it.
@@chi-townmex9346 Psygnosis creators behind Wipeout were acquired in 1993 development took 14 months to create it then release it in 1995
Very sad, not 1 physical version here...
That's not true. Both Redout 2 and Fast RMX both have physical releases. Super Rare Games in the UK published the physical for Fast RMX on the Switch and Redout 2 got a total retail physical for all 8th and 9th gen consoles (minus the Wii U of course) in NA, Australia and Europe. Fast RMX is a little tougher to find for a good price due to Super Rare selling out of all their copies, but Redout 2 is really easy to get for any console.
@@SkyScourgeGod Nice to know :o thanks alot!
@@CrimsonChi1985 No probs. Forgot to.mention that Grip Combat Racing also has a physical. 😉👍
XGRA is the best racing game ever !!!
IMO antigravitator is horrid- Grip is one of the best racing games ever.
Nuh uh they just made a new f zero
it doesn't really count
@@TheGuerreroEFG I know I’m just being a jerk
@@CaptainHieronymusValerianus ok I just wanted to pull a "☝️🤓Umm actually"
After finding out about some issues regarding the dev team, I can no longer support the recommendation of BallisticNG.
What happend?
@@ImBusenlolXD
Devs turned out to be extremely homophobic.
So despite fans ranting and raving for a new F-Zero, Nintendo instead decided on FastRMX, some sort of game with nitrous equipped floating caskets racing each other. Great decision, guys!
Nintendo didn't make Fast RMX
Nintendo decided? you know Nintendo didn’t make FastRMX, right?
f zero dropped out its quality
Wipeout is absolute crap compared to f-zero
Just no. Look at the games side by side. F zero graphics and tracks are terrible.
@@rwentfordable wipeout is so slow tho🤣
😂😂😂😂 nope
@@wrighty_boyy8080that’s one aspect only. Wipeout has better design, sound, atmosphere, gameplay… you name it. It’s perfect. That’s why we are all still waiting for its comeback.
@@wrighty_boyy8080they played here a very slow track. Search this: piranha wipeout 2097 rapier. Trust me. For me its too fast and I love fast gameplay.
REDOUT IS ONE WORD, LOOK IT UP. @RacingGames, PLS FIX. 🙁
