McConaughey was a madman in this movie 😂😂
The level of badassery surpassed in this scene is insurmountable. 🔥🐉
especially that parkour gap jump with axe. so much airtime
This stays badass from now forever.
It is! It’s so underrated this movie 🤩
I'm surprised that he jumped so far with them balls of steel
This scene, unintentionally set the bar for how a viking should be. This insane scene, was Van Zan's berserker ancestors coming through. We should all be so lucky to die in such a glorious way. My man is drinking mead with Tor and Odin.
Its a fucking epic scene man, lets agree
Better to die om your feet than to live on your knees
Proud of my Norman ancestry💪🏻
Never will there be a more badass moment in cinematic history.. EVER
That's a bold statement friend.
"Witness Me!!!!" Cmon Mad max fury road scene was more badass and atleast took out the enemy
Then I think you'll be proven wrong when Daemon and Aemond Targaryen have their final duel.
Riding the Bomb in Dr Strangelove was both hillarious and badass
It would have been funny if the dragon totally ignored him and he just fell to his death. 😂
😂
😅😅
This made me lol
😂😂😂😂😂 it would have been an epic fail.
Lololol
For some reason, when Van Zan leaps to his demise, I think of the line from 30 Days of Night.
"When a man meets a force he can't destroy, he destroys himself."
Nice
"For some reason" because the dragon was going to get him. If he jumps to the side, he's dead. If he hits the deck, the claws will get him.
As she looks up to see him flying through the air towards his doom. That scene has stayed with me.
“Come on big boy!!”
Love that. 🔥
St George would be proud, he fought like a warrior poet, he fought like a dragon slayer.... and he won our world back
🗿☦️ (Same exact thought) 🤝
I still laugh my ass off at this scene. The trailer made you think it was going to be a badass scene, but then he just gets eaten. I cracked up when I saw this in the theater.
1:14 The most badass way to die..
I was 3 when I jumped with my toy axe 🪓 off of the arm of the couch scared my mom half to death 😂😂
Matthew mcconaughey rolled a 1 for his
character.
Rest in peace, King
Aghh...the pain of watching bad ass supporting characters bite the dust....guy was a frigging unit....
1:12 the most badass moment in the whole movie. Oh you've got wings and spew fire, Van Zan don't care. I still believe he's alive. If Hannibal Chow is still alive at the end of *Pacific Rim* than so to is Van Zan in my book. It doesn't stop the moment from being any less badass, just makes it more.
This scene is badass. Also the final scene from THE CAVE. When he jumps on the creature and they both fall into the fire. :D
Somehow Van Zan returned...
@@Ronin3453Ohhh if only...
"Where is my goddamn axe?!"
Hannibal Chow is still alive in the mid credit scene. Only missing his badass shoes
At the time it seemed to me one of the most ridiculous deaths I had seen in a cinema. After 22 years it still seems that way.
Super intense scene. Almost difficult to watch with Alex’s emotion and then Van’s bravery
One of the greatest sacrifice in cinema history along with Billy in Predator, bishop in Aliens and the Yakuza guy in Predators.
Now that’s a FKIN HERO ❤
Got to the love the 'fuck you' attitude in the face of death
There will never be a more badass moment than a shirtless Mathew McConaughey jumping off a tower holding a giant axe into the mouth of a dragon.
This movie is easily one of the most bad ass movies on the 2000s
How I would want to go
Idk what the fuck he thought he was gona achieve with that, but godamn that was BADASS lol
He saw the dragon coming and said “ well alright alright”
Honeslty this and frailty are my favourite mccounghey movies. Van Zan was class man
The man simply had a death wish.
Matthew McConaughey went full McConaughey in this scene
slowly desolved by dragon gastric juices, what a way to go
He definitely died instantly lol
@@kigrey3994 he went straight down the dragons throat so im not so sure about instant
@@millennium677look again. You can see him in the dragons mouth chomped with his limbs hanging out 1:22 🐉
COME ON BIG BOY!!!
When you think about he sacrificed himself for Alex/the cause brave af
Epic
Matthew's channeling his Viking ancestors badassery. He's got Swedish ancestry.
Matthew mccohaghey was such a badass in this movie and he friggin lost himself in it….he jumped and said fuck it im going down im taking you with me…of course that didnt happen lol
Holy shit bro the quality is amazing 😍🥹
This scene blew my mind!!! I was like the dragon ate him!!!????
WITNESS ME!!!!!!!!!!
1:10 😄
*Good movie is a good movie*
it is NOT about the DEAD
IT is about WHAT you DO.
Honestly, you can't believe it's the same Matthew McConaughey who appeared in great projects like Tropic Thunder, Interstellar, True Detective, Dallas Buyers Club or The Wolf of Wall Street
Well, he is a good...actor. It is what he does.
@@heathb4319I mean how muscular and bald he was. He was a Viking before making romantic movies with Kate Hudson
Never bring axe to a dragon fight
he was a Yankee but his got that Viking warrior in him.
When you play too much monster hunter
Can confirm as a hammer user, I always leap off ledges for an aerial hit so I can mount the monster.
Os olhos verdes testemunhando o inacreditável ficou memorável
Shit so god damn dope
Max Testosterone.
younger Kratos
redbull gives you wing. badass gap jump
Wtf was he going to do if he killed the dragon was he going to hang on for dear life also this entire part reminds of the ending of Beowulf but he succeeded in killing the dragon while he um didn’t 😂
Magic hour.
In an alternate universe the dragon swerved at the last second letting McConaughey fall to his death. His last words were 'you ruined my epic deaaa....'
This is on par with Independence Day sacrifice scene.
Come on big boy!!!
I'm baaaaaack!!!!
;)
Cool and versatile as Swords are, Spears/Javelins and Axes should get more attention than they do. Swords were not very common until the knightly age, even then, only higher ups were allowed to wield them. Bah! One of the things I don’t miss about medieval times, the class conscience!
I agree about spears. Axes have never really been satisfactory weapons.
@@richardgoss4777 In close quarters paired with a center grip shield? And up against plate armor? Coming from me, axes are pretty flexible.
@konigeurichderwestgoten4460 It's the weight distribution, and it lacks versitile attacks. A one hander doesn't have much reach, and it's only got one side of the weapon you can hack with. I'm not sold on them it's a lumberjacks tool.
@konigeurichderwestgoten4460 Also, another thing about swords is that the Roman Empire was built with the sword. It's been around for a long time for a reason.
@@richardgoss4777 Well, my bearded axe and Francisca axe handles are 30-28 inches with leather wrapped grips, very comfortable. The blades aren't so heavy that they disallow quick slashes, thrusts with the top end (I can easily break someone's face), or slash and come up with the backside. I can hook enemy weapons, shields, limbs. Other than being less time-consuming and expensive to forge, I'm doubtful so many people would've used them for millennia if they weren't effective.
Seems to me that had he maintained cover a bit longer he could have had the shot to take down the beast. Brave for sure but got clouded in whats worked before.
How could this have possibly ever worked before 😂
The issue is they needed a clear shot at the dragons mouth to ignore the chemicals in it's throat
The dragon however, shoots fire too soon and explodes the c4 bolt before then
Dragon ate him like a chicken nugget and y’all think that was a bad ass way to go!?🤨
Yes, because he didn’t get eaten cowering, but leaping into the jaws of death with a battle roar. Died on his own terms, regardless of the outcome.
Men are brave....
Kratos
If he was hattori hanzo that dragon would be cut in half
1:14 you're here because of this
Meh, Birgir from God of War Ragnarok did it better, at least he survived.
OMG! I must express my frustration here, u mean after all that, u couldnt let him connect before he dies????? Really? At least????😮 Let the dragon spend rhe last few minutes left in the movie with an Ax lodged in his mouth or something
I always wished he at least managed to swing the axe into the dragon at the same time as getting chowed on in this part, kinda like a thing where as crazy as it was he did a speck of something
Yeah the axe could have somehow been to deep in the dragon mouth and as he bit down it got VanZant but busted or tore one of the fluid tracts that it uses to spit fire.
Then as the dragon tried again it wouldn't spit in line enough to ignite or it caught itself on fire so it couldn't do it anymore. and then that gave the others the real chance they needed to finish him off.
lol this scene forever confused me as a kid
#HELLDIVERS2
I kinda hate he went out like that. Ultimately a dragon turd if they hadn't succeeded in killing it.
But I do like that he went out roaring and still fighting.
El tipo iba a morir de todas maneras y decidió hacerlo de la manera más macha posible 💪
McConaughey overacting like a lunatic for the entire film...
And my God, it was *BEAUTIFUL.*
Yes it was EPIC!
This is the last normal gay guy and his friends trying not to transition in 2044… lol
That's an epic death!!
This scene, was bad ass and stupid😂 all that for nothing😂 it would have been better if another dragondragon would’ve came out of nowhere and ate him so it gives the viewer the imagination of what would of happened
