Chanel has so many variations in their caviar leathers which not a lot of people go over in their reviews so I thought I would show you all the different types of leathers I have in my Chanel collection to help you out in your search!

Thanks! This was helpful! I just got a new WOC, and it is my first new Chanel piece from the boutique. All the rest are preloved. And I was curious to know if all caviar will eventually get softer. My other WOC is soft and so I just hope that this one gets that way too and it is not just a because of the way the caviar was made 10 years ago that lends itself to such nice aging.
Honestly there is no way to tell. My jumbo has not softened at all and I think it was purposely made stiff and sturdy. But I can see my zippy coin purse does feel a bit softer than when I first got it. I think the more you use it, the better the leather gets so enjoy your woc! 🥰🥰🥰
This is a great video, thank you for posting. Would you say the smooth lambskin has many variations like the caviar? I have not been able to find much information on how it changes year to year since it's not as popular.
I don’t have as much experience with smooth lambskin. However, I have seen some that are very shiny and glossy and others that are more dull like my key holder. I’m not sure if it is a variation from Chanel or if it’s due to using and handling. I do know that lambskin will get shinier with use. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help and thank you so much for watching!
Thanks for this video-very informative! My Chanel woc from the boutique has a slight smell to it almost like a burning rubber or so-have you experienced this before or heard of this?

Lovely video. Are your jumbo’s bottom quilts puffy as well? I got a medium flap from 2013 as well with matte caviar but the bottom quilts are not flat

The bottoms as far as I know should be flat quilts. Maybe you can go to fashionphile to see the Chanel listings there and compare with yours? They have a lot of inventory and are known to be very trustworthy with a lot of detailed pictures. Hope this helps! ❤️❤️❤️

KK LVoes CC it’s a great video & Not talked about enough.. But I will admit - I didn’t like the caviar when I first got it. But it really grew on me and now I love it. I love how you showed all different variations of it.. one of the best vids I’ve seen on caviar leather & Gorgeous collection..! 😍😍😍 Caviar can be so stiff but I’ve found the more plasticy/stiff and bigger the grains = The more DURABLE THE LEATHER WILL BE..! I wish I could insert pictures of my 1989 bag.. it’s not a flap bag it’s soo unique.. it is enormous brown caviar bag 19” wide & 14” tall, it has the word “Chanel” embroidered with gold thread. It’s the most durable caviar I’ve ever handled. But on the straps it’s turned butter soft..😍❤️
I just bought a preloved coco handle. The black cavier looks duller (lighter) than my black cavier classic. Is it normal due to the diff batches/seasons of cavier leather?
Glad I chance upon your video to calm my anxiety. Was thinking the coco handle might be not an authentic piece.
The caviar can vary SO much! It’s hard to determine authenticity through that alone. For peace of mind definitely get it authenticated. I highly recommend Zeko’s authentication as she is the best for Chanel but there are many companies that provide it. 🥰🥰🥰

Annetra Rogers key holders are usually well stocked in Waikiki and Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, places where there are lots of Asians 😂 good luck!
Chanel is my most favorite brand. I notice you don't include any of Their patent leather bags. I'm not a fan of THEYR patent leather though. It's soo plasticky that it doesn't feel like leather or even patent leather. I bought one patent leather bag and I love the bags style, but idk It feels more like vinyl plastic then patent leather. I buy and resell a lot of bags. Soo I handle all kinds of brands. THEYR patent leather is something I try not to buy for my collection anymore just cos it's soo plasticky/ Vinyl feeling. My prefrance is THEYR lambskin but again it's very unique lambskin. I own several lambskin bags, my lady Dior bag is lambskin I really love how butter soft it is. Chanels lambskin though is very odd. I have had girl friends touch my lambskin chanels and say " it feels like it's not even leather/fake, cos it's so pore less and just so different.." The caviar bags I have some of them I think feel to plasticky too. Gorgeous collection.. I highly recommend anyone that's debating on buying a Chanel bag to go into the actual Chanel boutique and just try on bags and examine each leather prior to picking what kind you want..😉 Even if you prefer buying pre loved - I STILL HIGHLY RECOMEND FEELING THE LEATHERS AT CHANEL BEFORE BUYING. COS WHEN I BOUGHT MY FIRST CAVIAR LEATHER BAG IT WAS PRE LOVED AND I EXPECTED IT TO FEEL AS SOFT AS A BABBIES BUM. BUT WHEN I GOT IT I WAS HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED COS IT WAS SOOO STIFF AND PLASTICY I ALMOST THOUGHT THE BAG WAS FAKE AND TOOK IT INTO MY LOCAL CHANEL AND HAD THEM EXAMINE IT. THEY EXPLAINED THIS BAG IS FROM1989 & these leathers always differ.. But on the bright side - caviar leather is soooooo durable and last a lifetime. My 1989 bag is my oldest one I own. But it's still in wonderful condition since it's such thick caviar leather.. Again great video and ABSOLUTLY gorgeous collection..😍😍😍
Excellent points! And yes, definitely a good idea to go to boutique if you can. If you don’t live near one I would recommend sites like fashionphile that take returns so that you are not stuck with a handbag that you don’t love. Thanks for your comments! ❤️❤️❤️
