Very nicely reviewed. You really pulled out the key details (shortcomings and merits) of the keyboard and mouse that no other tech reviewer has done so far. You're an underdog and a class apart from the usual stable of tech. reviewers.
Much appreciated!
Phew - that was an incredibly detailed review. This channel outdoes everyone else on YT in tech videos. Thank you so much :)
Thank you!
Thank you so much for the comprehensive review. I am about to make a choice between MX keys mini and MX mechanical mini and this review helped a lot! I decided to give the mechanical mini a shot. Ordered it!
Love the MX mechanical, my daily driver
@@ArtIsRight that’s reassuring! I’m picking mine up in the morning when the store opens 🥳
Good timing and thorough review. I’m in the market for a new keyboard, and was leaning toward the MX Keys keyboard. I miss the mechanical feel, and this might do the trick.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice timing on this video, Art. Finally got my new Mac Studio (Ultra) and I have been busy setting it up and converting from my 2015 iMac. Despite a few quirks in the setup (particularly with my older Drobo DAS), I have it humming now. Ironically, last week I did add this Logi full-size mechanical keyboard (the tactile quiet version too) and am really loving it..been a long time since I’ve had a mechanical keyboard. Because I have two Apple magic mice, I haven’t (at least yet) added a MX master mouse. Having gone this route and forsaken the Touch ID, one thing I have noticed, and maybe I can solve it with some customization, is that I seem to have to wait a couple of seconds for the keyboard to “wake up” before typing in the password for the Studio. By the way, having added a Benq SW321C to my SW271, the screen setup simply feels awesome.
Yes Touch ID is lacking but not much is being done about that. If only apple release a separate Touch ID only login puck. About the delay, I notice that as well, not sure what can be done there. I think it might be more OS related than anything. I might have to try it with Apple KB and see how it behaves. And SW321C is awesome, yes I totally agree! Cheers
What a great presentation! :)
Thank you! Cheers!
Agree on the Full Keyboard. I use the number pad too often for rating, data entry and shortcuts. And a small mechanical keyboard has so much volume that it doesn't seem smaller. As much as I used to enjoy mechanical keyboards I just wasn't into the options I tried and switching between laptop and desktop I had to make a somewhat frustrating decision and get the Apple full Touch ID keyboard.
I hear you!
I have the MX Mechanical Mini. I can only say this is a game changer. I am so happy with this keyboard! Rocking the red switched (Linear) Tried the brown keys, but returned it for the Linear.
Got it, yeah Brown works really well for me, and this is why we have choices :D
I saw them at Best Buy yesterday. I really like the feel and am tempted to get it.
I love them!
For creatives, smaller mini is great. Great video and I am ditching Keychron an nuphy due to erratic connectivity and poor battery charge life.
Nice!
i have installed options+, window 10, after I wake up my window 10 by pressing ctrl+alt+del and input password to unlock the screen, my MX Mechanical Full size keyboard will non-stop input "del" instruction. Do you have the same problem? If i assign "volumn up" function to the "Del" key, in the same situation, my keyboard will non-stop input "voulme up" instruction.
Hmm, that could be a hardware thing or relating to the dongle. I have not experienced this. I would contact their support and see what they can do.
do you find there is a difference between this keyboard and the Mac version? I wish the Mac version came in full size, but it doesn't (at least not yet). I would definitely want the full size. Is the charging cable USB-C on both ends or do you need to use an adapter with your Mac?
ua-cam.com/video/9YQWKQTMT4g/v-deo.html The differences are Color, USB C to USB C for charing, no dongle and some key caps are Mac specific. Otherwise they are identical.
Do you have a video on the custom button setup that you use for Lightroom on your MX Mouse?
For me I use custom button with LRC and the keyboard. The mouse not so much.
@@ArtIsRight interesting. I set up the thumb front/back buttons as forward/back to quickly go to the next image, and the scroll wheel mode select button as a hot key for a vignette mask. I thought you might have played around with it more.
Good to know, for my workflow, I don't use those features as much. next image yes but the dexterity that I have mapped out for me is different.
I really prefer the unified dongle, it fails far less than Bluetooth. I wonder if I should buy few keyboards with the unified dongle before they disappear.
You can do that, my feeling is that Logitech won't just discontinue the unifying dongle immediately, they would slowly discontinue it. They might keep it for the entry level product but then you are stuck with getting the entry level product only. So something to think about there. I like the Bolt, you might want to give that a try. :D
One thing I will never understand is why modern keyboards get rid of the caps light. It is soooooo useful that I dońt know why it is not implemented. That´s why I prefer Apple keyboards, Mathias or others which offer this detail
that why there are lots of options out there on the market, each to their own :D
@@ArtIsRight Yes, but except those two brands, I don't know any other which has it. For instance I don't know any mechanical keyboard that incorporates this "caps light"
Thanks Art
I never use a mouse but a Wacom table with Logi MX keyboard, the only downside is the ID touch is not on the keyboard with my Macbook M1. I feel that trying to draw or paint with a mouse is like holding a soap bar, so you can understand why I prefer a Wacom pen as an artist.
Everyone workflow is different, we all have our own preferences :D
I agree a mouse or trackpad makes me feel like a caveman. I use my Wacom even for normal non creative usage like browsing the web. So much better ergonomically as well! No more wrist pains from track pad or mouse
@@alang253 I used to do a lot of retouching in Photoshop, but did not enjoy it that much and I prefer fine art. Yes, you are spot on many do not realise a mouse can cause pain. I find it is quicker to use the Wacom table as you can create your own shortcuts.
@@simonanartist yes I've invested so much time into the expresskeys! I find it crazy that a lot of Wacom users don't use them, but I also understand that the Wacom drivers are a nightmare
@@alang253 Since I have my new BookBook M1 16" for me the Wacom driver is better than the old MacBook which causes me problems. So far it has been perfect for me, no nightmare.
