- NEW Milwaukee Tools TAPE MEASURES That BEAT STANLEY FATMAX And LUFKIN!
On our trip out to #NPS2019 Milwaukee tools unveiled some brand new tape measures that beat Stanley fatmax and lufkin tape measures in almost every way! Let us know your thoughts on these new tape measures from Milwaukee tools in the comments section below!
The 25ft wide blade magnetic tip is the best tape I’ve ever used. I swore by fat max magnetic tip for years but the magnet kept pulling off and I lost it every couple months. Defeated the purpose of the tape for me as a sprinklerfitter needing a magnet. Fat max tape clips kept tearing my pants pocket to.
I'm a sprinkler fitter also'
All I really need is 10' true stand with wide magnetic tip and blade and double side markings that don't fade early
I own one of these, not sure if its a stud one, but its a beauty. best tape ive owned
Maxkil didn’t even know Max watch VCG? Keep up the good work Max, love the vids.
@@DjJ0SHE of course I watch. I'm with the #verycoolgang as well . Vince is the best!
How do you think I stay up to date with my tools .. thanks Josh
Love my Milwaukee Tapes! The magnetic tip works nice for grabbing stuff if its dropped in the wall forms when doing basements😎
Except when you drop your speed square into the basement for that i use my chalk line and a nail bent like a fish hook and every single time it makes me want to go fishin!!!
Good for clumsy people
Awesome video VCG!
You guys are marching towards 100k! I’m a new subscriber, but can’t get enough of these videos. Thanks for all the great content and keep up the great work!
😎👍🏻
Welcome to the community
Thanks Dan! It seems like an awesome group
@@TMCX113 Just a FYI Wednesday night around 8 pm Vince host a tool Q & A and Friday nights is TTR (Tool Test Raw) starting 5:30 pm ish. Also Saturday and Sunday are box store walk around. The times are Eastern time zones
Thanks for the info Dan! I have constantly changing schedule so I usually miss the live streams, but I always watch them when I’m off work. 😁
I have a HD gift card and will be buying some m18 fuel tools based off of his reviews/TTR’s. 👍🏻👍🏻
Are this new versions, I have 2 stud measuring tapes from Milwaukee and they wear out quick, fatmax outperforms Milwaukee measuring tapes
Presentation right to the point. No useless hellos.
I have Milwaukee's 30 ft magnetic tape and it is very durable but after several times dropping it from about 20 feet the magnet did come off, other than that it is still rock solid.
That’s pretty much expected, the hook included
So, looks like they aren’t trying to stand those tape measures out at level, but angled up, what, around 45 degrees maybe? And that is how the manufacturers get their standout ratings?
I wonder?!??
I haven't been on here in a while it's good to see another wonderful video great, content keep up the good work vcg💯
Would it stand up to road construction, really asphalt getting on it?
I just purchased my first Milwaukee 25' Stud tape measure yesterday. I haven't put it to the test as of yet but will be using it on many upcoming projects. Def want to compare it to my Stanley Power Lock, Bostich, Kobalt, Craftsman and Lufkin tape measures. Yep, I use many types, lol. Cheers!
You won't be disappointed " My Stud tape is Very Durable an I'm very hard on tape measures at work.
Only thing I don’t like about the Milwaukee tapes is the belt clip. I’ll stick to my fat max! Also, she looks like fun! Would smash!
"... We found that tape tear is one of the number one failures... "
How many number ones can there be?!
Tape being nicked is the biggest fault 😂 buy cheap no one nicked it
2016 I bought a Milwaukee. Dropped once in the water. Locked up on me and the blade were out. Hope they fixed the problem
Yeah i switched to metric this year, replaced all my stuff with it, just had to do it, once i did one project using it. Its a no brainer. You will have the “Are you kidding me?” moment if you try it. Zero waste of time now. Hope MW puts out a double sided metric tape! (By the way there is a tape called vice versa that is Dbl sided metric)
Glad they double sided the studs. Does it have the scale on the backside like the magnetic double sided?
Looks like new things are coming hopefully when you get them you put it through the paces get up the great work tell Nick he needs to do more send talks like he did at his house
as a guy who is green as the day is long, i love your vids! super informative for noobs
My question is simply size how big is it when it's right next to a fatmax. Unless maybe I missed that in the video
I got my hands on a new Lufkin Tape with 14 feet of stand out and a double sided blade. I have to say it’s not bad I like the feel of it not as bulky as the stud. Looking forward to the Gen 2 studs guys thank you for dropping the video and answering my questions on your last video.
I remember that shirt... and Caitlyn did an excellent job, as well as those new STUD tapes.
She knows her studs!!
just switched my autolock for a wideblade, best tapes in the game.
Same'
Do any of these tapes use the one key system i have problems losing and my tapes growing legs and walking off
I personally prefer an auto lock tape. Just don’t like the click lock. Personal preference I guess I’ve had a Stanley auto lock for a long time, and getting ready to replace it. Considering Milwaukee auto lock. Seems solid, with good reviews. Good price too 👍🏻 Anyone else out there with thoughts, opinions, suggestions, I’d appreciate it. Thanks. Love ❤️ what you do VCG guy! Good stuff. God bless 😇 everyone working hard with their hands everyday!
They are going to have to win me back. I prefer everything on my current Milwaukee tapes to the fatmax except the blade itsself. (I love features like the magnent in a non self locking tape, big tip, double sided printed blade, index finger brake hole, wire belt clip, etc) Recently more often than not I am going for the fatmax when i have to do surveys because of its standout. There was one job where i tried to get the Milwaukee to hook to the top of the building fascia. It only reached it twice and folded before i could grip it.
After 12 attempts I went for my fatmax and it nailed it the first try despite the stupidly tiny hook on it.
I just stumbled a new fatmax variant at the despot that claimed 13 foot standout. I got 13'-9" on first try. $21.00 later and i got another tape measure.
I started out with a Stanley PowerLock which I loved, but it started to rust after working outside in the rain all day one day. I used to have the new DeWalt XP but I didn’t like how heavy it was, but that was my only complaint with that tape. I have a Milwaukee 25’ magnetic tape now and I keep a 25’ compact version as a spare. I didn’t like the Stud as much when it first came out because it was also heavy and it didn’t have the numbers on the back of the tape itself that I’ve grown to love on my magnetic. Hopefully the new version is a little lighter than the original. If so then it looks like it’ll be my next tape measure when my magnetic finally gives.
On the drop test she said “it’s not a functional tape measure ? Why? If you dropped a functional one would it then be to heavy to pass? Would it brake? Bend? What.. why would they in a test to prove how good there product is not use one that works? I don’t take the spring out of my tape measure before I drop it? So why would they?
Do they have an inch/engineered version?
Good tape, but not get a chance to use it yet. However,so far i almost hv used every brand every tape here in Australia- not find a tape can beat fatmax. Here are some keys points i strongly want manufacturers think about for their products:
1. Extra stronthened tape particularly at 450mm 900mm 1200mm 1350mm 2700mm 3000mm 3200mm. Well, these are the most comnon measurements here in my daily work. Tape tears all the time in these areas.
2. Long straight reach- 3m will be good enough,as i donot think any trades do long reach game at work. Go-and-hook will be more efficient and safe.
3. Hook head design-this needs to connect to the point above. generally, the long reach appears when the tape face up and the hook grabs target under the tape- imagine u r measuring some thing on the ground. However,we do long reach and try to hook at the same time when we measre wall, bulkhead and ceiling and the object we want to hook up is not under the tape. If someone can improve the tape in terms of side hooking, not only focus on long reach, we will have a better tape soon.
4. Idk how dose the engineers for the manufactures find out their break points of the products-but i will collect at least 1k pcs of damaged tapes and analysing them. I say this because tape housing quality is some thing not that important as most brands have already built their tape housing so strong. While, more damages from water, mud n chemical liquid which make the tape rusted and stuck inside the housing no matter how tough the housing is.
Tell me how the hook holds up after continued use. Last pair of Milwaukee tapes I bought went right into the trash. The hooks were soft and bent out of square so my measurements were way off. They also bent into a u shape as well. When I figured this out I would grab my pliers and bend them back into shape but that should never happen. Never once had this happen to a fat max tape
They are Wayy Stronger Now'
@@jacobsebastien3910 I'm already set in my ways. Been using fat max for 14 years. It seems like a lot of this Milwaukee stuff is going downhill though, I dont like the bits or blades, and tool wise most of the stuff I use is makita
I don't know. I still love my Fat Mat tapes
Dan the Man you know if it still works it's the right price use it is this still your money
@@konamanstudio2447 that's right 😎😎
Can she handle 14ft of standout? I mean adding all sizes and smaller, im just saying.
I like mine but. I've had it 3 months and it has rust pit marks.
Get the Milwaukee ( Stud ) tape,
I love my stud and now they r going to make it better sounds like a win win for me
Same here bro'
What’s warrenty
the new craftsman pro x tape can do the same and its sturdy as well. If you really wanted to any tape can reach 13-15ft you just have to meticulously pull out the tape.
Craftsman tape measure is Garbage.
Jacob Sebastien in what way? The measurements are way easier to read, the blade is wider and sturdier and can sustain many drops? I own Milwaukee 25’ stud and I can definitely say craftsman is better. Maybe these new ones are better
The scale ruler on the one I have is so handy
Definitely looking forward to testing these new tapes. I hate yellow. Need red.
Agree'
Don’t get me wrong. I have the Lufkin Shockforce, but I bet these features would be more useable
Are they making the hook larger?
It seems a little bigger
@@VCGConstruction is it large enough to catch a rafter from underneath?
Wish they made more products in the good ole USA
Went from fat Max to stud 1 tape ago 👌🏽 love them
I love my Milwaukee Stud tape measure
Great video vince
I bought a magnetic Milwaukee tape, love the tape itself
BUT the magnet broke off on the third use.
nice idea , needs improving.
Stay safe brothers.
They did improve it'
Looks like a great tape measure!! Thx
How's it do when theres wet sawdust on it?
Mine do really well with Sheetrock dust all over them 5-6 days a week
When is the 14 foot standout coming
I been using both tapes for years, yellow and red one. Nevertheless, Milwakeee tape last way longer. I wave two of them that have lasted 5 years already and still kicking. Needless to say, I use this tape 5 to 6 days a week.
This video sure measures up! Have a great day, guys!🌞😍
❤️🤣🤣
Where is the nps at?
Milwaukee
@@VCGConstruction Wisconsin? do they travel around?
Hard to beat my FatMax. But I do love me some Milwaukee tools!
I know me too but ima have to try milwaukees to see forsure if i should change
Ditto, now if they can only make the Milwaukee's here.
@texas hell yes cuz
@@209chevymon dont change I've had issues with the hooks bending with normal use. They bend out of square and they bend in a u shape. Just for shits and giggles I just grabbed the plumber's tape on site because it was a Milwaukee. Took pictures of the hook, exactly the same thing bent in a u shape and the hook is out of square to the tape. Even a 4 dollar 25 foot Stanley tape wont do that their hooks are hard. I've had fat Max's around for years and the hook wont bend, I tried the milwakees and bought a double pack and they both went in the trash, I had to keep bending them straight and square every week and then I just had enough and went and stocked up on fat Max's again
@@bolerdweller ya but these are "improved" so they say with better stand out and a stronger hook idk we'll see lol
First and CONGRATS on the 88 k strong
Thanks Dan the man!!
Sticking with the time-tested Fatmax, but these look like great tape measures
Honestly i get whatever is on sale but my go to is the lufkin or fatmax even dewalt actually any tape measurer is good if i cant affford to buy one every other month i need a new trade
Tapes tears ever two months???Never had one tear. I use Stanley and have problems with print wearing out just because they last so long. First gen Milwaukee magnetic tapes were junk, my blade bent.
Very Cool Gang what's up Vince!! This is a shout out from Mr. Ken's Fix-it Co. Spring Valley WI. Milwaukee must be making a higher grade of chinesium in these tape measures lol. Stanley tapes are still made in the USA people support your people. I support Milwaukee because of Brookfield office and I feel like it's supporting my home states economy. Buy a Milwaukee Stud tape to try it or remember this is nothing but chinesium s***. Fatmax is still made in USA baby!!!
Why wouldn't they use a functional tape measure on the drop test? If it's not the real thing you'd use in the field, it's not a real test.
I have one of those Hi Vis blade fatmax,I'm gonna miss it when it's gone
I had a milwaukee tape loved it in all aspects until the tip broke off after 2 months back to stanly i went that last me for years
My Milwaukee Stud Tape Measure is the Best an Most Durable Tape measure I Ever Used" 💪
Try the dewalt one i broke several of the milwaukee. My dewalt one is almost a year old!
Does anyone know when in August they're releasing the new line up?
I don’t sorry!!
Been carrying fatmax for many many years now....but I am at least sold on trying one of these. Guess they did their job in selling it. I hope its as good as they are claiming. I break a fatmax about once per year
I didn't know you are in Milwaukee! I'm like 45 mins away. Have fun drink beer and eat some good food.
Mag 25 is great, use it all the time.
STUD TAPE WIDE BLADE AUTOLOCK I'd never buy another tape, I might buy a skid of them
I got the 25ft autolock
First of all, Caitlyn, no one does that to their tapes on cinder blocks.
I do, that's how I cut cinder blocks.
😂😂👍
Releasing THIS AUGUST ????? I NEED THAT !!!!!
with all due respect, but I found out that the wooden ones are better - they do not break, and do not bend like steel tapes. I use Leica rangefinder 4 m above. I do not remember exactly which model, but does the job
Wish the come out with easy read..I have a hard time reading..the tape..with my eyes...
I bought a Milwaukee tape measure. I used it maybe twice and the tape measure tore. I’m not even rough with my tools.
It’s got a lifetime warranty, did you use it?
The Milwaukee (Stud) tape won't tear. You must of have one of their other models.
try dewalt tough series
But listen to the annoying sound it makes when extending and retracting!!!! Im like 95% Milwaukee tools but love my fatmax 25’ tape and dewalt circular saw.
Vince makes me ask myself "What if John Stewart became a contractor instead..."
Do they make em with proper measurements ?? You know METRIC !!.
No one cares about metric
@@TheSatan222...Do you mean in the USA or the rest of the world ???
This is no Joke!! These are all left-handed tapes. Follow me on this. Assume you want to cut 2 feet off a 2X4. Because you are right-handed you pick up the pencil in your right hand and the tape in your left hand. You hook the "L" shaped end of the tape to the right end of the 2X4 and pull the tape to the left until your see 2 feet. You ready your right hand, the one with the pencil, to make a mark when you notice that the numbers are all upside down.
Now try it again using your left hand to hold the pencil and your right hand to hold the tape. Hook the "L" piece of the tape on the left side of the board. Pull the tape to the right and all the numbers are right side up. This tape is for a left-handed person. This is a left-handed tape.
If you don't believe me, try it.
Milwaukee tapes ive found arent durable enough to compare to the fatmax
I have destroyed 4 Milwaukee tapes with normal ware one of them didn't make it past day one I still have 3 trashed in my tool box my favorite tape but definitely not as durable as they claim
mine rusted out
The fatmax has owned this space for quite a while. I don't want a tape measure that's beats it....I want it to smash it..I'm sick of buying endless supply of tape measures...🙄 I have lost count how many have got...
1 nicks
2 rusty
3 wares out
4 gets lost...ok you can't help me with that 😂
You can put a ONE-KEY™ tick on your tape 🤣🤣
Interested to try the wide blade. If it's better than a fatmax I'd switch. Those have gone to shit.
Give it a magnetic tip
I see that is now going to be an option, will buy to try
I dropped a hammer off the roof and picked up using the magnet on my Milwaukee tape measure
Yes a 35'
Tajima Son!!
every Milwaukee tape I have ever owned breaks
exactly, I've had 2 tear after a couple months.
Boo Yeah! That’s what I’m talking about.
One this a future why are we still using a tape measure like its1985?
I'll stick with my Komelon magnetic auto lock. Thanks.
Junk compared to Milwaukee Stud tape measure, I have Both an My Milwaukee Stud tape Far surpasses it.
@@jacobsebastien3910 I have the Milwaukee stud 25' also, as well as several Stanley's. I use tapes everyday and prefer the Komelon magnetic auto lock overall. Far from junk. Not knocking Milwaukee at all here. I use their tools daily too.
Kinda fishy they only let the Milwaukee rep use the stud tape for the standout demo. If you really trust in your product let the attendants use it.... I wouldn’t put it past Milwaukee to tamper with the DW and Stanley tapes prior to the demo even though both of them were only half a foot away from the flag
stanley fatmax is the best ❤️
Yeah, wont beat fatmax or dewalt, but they look pretty cool
Great tape but this video isn't right. Take into effect of wind snow rain and different temps. I want to see what real life situations do.
That first standout test was a little strange to me. who's using their tape as a fishing rod? what do I know though. good work VCG
Standout is important to some. When I'm trying to measure a wall that I can't hook onto, I want the blade to standout as stiff as possible.
@@paulsallee4889 oh yes absolutely. not downplaying the feature, just questioning the standards used in the demo. the angle they went up was odd. I'd assume most measure straight out as opposed to what was demo'd. The swing test was impressive though.
I always measure standout straight out!!
Milwaukee will put Mac and snap on out of bizznizz
I’ll give it a try when my fat max breaks in 80 years
You tell Milwaukee to make a tape that is easy to fit in my back pocket that is still 25 feet ....and standout is overrated ...more stand out also means more curve to the tape......
Mine lasted a month .but they gave me another for free
Literally THE worst tape measure ever. Within 1 week of use, the blade was all messed up and bent, the coil mechanism wore out, the numbers were fading, and everything went to s**t. Bunch of bulls**t marketing claims. Switched to a dewalt tough series tape, the best tape ever.
A non functioning example vs a fully functioning competitor isn't a fair test !
