The best part of owning a Tesla: near to zero maintenance . No tune ups. No fluids to worry about - no oil changes. No smog checks. The tire rotations are the only thing that carries over from owning a regular car. They have a literal 4 year "suggestion" to bring your car into their service center to have the battery coolant checked, and that's about it. Oh, and I love not having to get gas anymore. It's saved me tons of money in many ways.
Just feed it electricity, and in a few short years it will TAKE YOU to walk where you want to. 😂😂😲
This is amazing, so maybe you can get used to the features

Just a quick tip about charging while on road trips. Arrive at superchargers with your car at a low state of charge, like 5%. The car supercharges much faster at a low state of charge. As the battery gets more full, the supercharge rate will slow down dramatically. It's better to only charge to about 50-70% while charge rates are faster and then leave and head to the next supercharger. Rather than waiting the extra 20-30 minutes to top off to 90-100%. You'll be able to travel a lot faster that way!
Also for charging at home, you can get a beefier charger that charges at 48 amps and adds about 40+ mi/hr. This way you can fully charge the car in closer to 8 hours rather than 17.

This is actually a bad idea because they are lithium ion batteries. You want to charge it from 30-70% and keep it consistent to prevent severe battery health declines.
For when you go camping in your car, there's a camp mode that keeps the inside temp nice for you!

Also have a Tesla Model Y 2021, picked it up December 2020. Black with Black seats and optional 20 inch wheels. I love it so far. I always charge at home. Had a 240V charging outlet installed which charges the car at 31 Miles per hour, so easily charges it to 90% in no more than 3 or 4 hours because I always keep it plugged in. Good luck with yours, she is a beauty.

You guys have a slow 110 charger at home probably. If you install 220 (easy to install) at home it'll charge 7- 8 hours max! And that's if its empty to full. Also it's very cheap over night to charge at home. You can use it like your phone use it during the day and charge at night at home

I thInk the new 4680 battery cells will step Tesla’s up to another level. By the time your lease is up the 2024 Model Y will have front and rear cast aluminum sections joined by a structural battery pack using 4680 cells at a minimum. I’m curious how battery cell technology will advance in the next 3-years, especially at Tesla.
Great video! Just wanted to counter one point you made about depreciation. Teslas hold their value pretty well compared to most other cars, in particular the Model 3 depreciated just 10.2% in 3 years. Hopefully the Model Y will hold its value just as well (getting mine this weekend) :)

I think Tesla’s as nice looking but having a clear roof would drive me nuts. I’m forever trying to keep the sun out of my eyes and that would be way too bright for me. Plus I think I would get sunburned all the time too. I used to have to plug in my old car from high school bc it was a diesel and it got really cold in the winter. It would make the gas get thick so I had to plug it in otherwise my car wouldn’t start.
Idk if you noticed but it’s tinted so the sun doesn’t get into the cars and won’t bother anyone but yea I was thinking the same until I went to drive one
@@Onichan-nh1he no I didn't! Anytime I see people doing videos in them it seems so clear so I didn't think they were tinted. The plugging in thing is a pain though. I did watch a YT video of people who tested out the whole camping thing. It was... interesting for them, but doable.

17 hours to charge at home. Your dad needs a proper home charger. A little charging time is a small price to pay for clean air.
