i love the way he says "jezebel". that man was a masterclass and a standard in cutting promos. a true people's champ. we will miss him. thank you dusty.
This promo is just incredible. Passion, heart and the good guy talking like a pure badass. The way he lowers voice to quiet disappointment at the end towards babydoll is masterful.
I've watched this a few dozen times... still can't get over how incredibly gifted he is. To improvise all that and deliver the way he does... Always the American Dream.
Dusty always had legenkdary promos. The stuff he came up with and painted the picture of what was going on and how he could build up a storyline is just amazing. So many great memories. Miss you so much Stardust.
I agree 100% All promos nowadays seem like scripts they memorize rather than speak from the heart. Who knows Dusty better than Dusty? He knows his character . But Honestly I bet if he was just starting out now and cut this promo in the WWE they’d say “thank you but your not what we’re looking for. And lose some weight” :/
Dusty died today....Had to go and watch a few of his promo's. This has got to be one of his best. The passion he shows in his face as he speaks, the timing, the cadence, everything...Perfect! gone but never forgotten
Oh god! This is fantastic! This is why I got hooked on Championship Wrestling from Florida with Gordon Solie -- it was promos and characters like this that had me glued to the TV every Saturday! Thanks for posting -- Dusty was the working class Muhammad Ali and I loved him!
Among the best promos ever cut. My gawd was that a great time in rasslin' history and I thank my lucky stars for growing up during those fabulous times.
During his time in Florida, he participated in a softball game for charity and played shortstop. He held his own and was agile for his size. He played baseball and football with the Patriots in the 1960's.
I loved the personality the wrestlers had back then...They really knew how to have charisma in front of the camera...Dusty was one of the great interviews of all time
Thank you very much. It was a lot of research but seeing Superstar and Jake changed my whole concept of how good a promo should be. I welcome everybody's comments
@halleberrybabydaddy Have you ever heard Cody speak? He has that same "my tongue is two steps behind my brain" speech, lol! This is one of my favorite Dusty vids ever.
As this promo is cut by Dusty in 1986, what he really wanted to tell the fans was: "3 years from now, I'll be wearing...... POLKADOTS, eef you wheeel!"
i was not sold on the description until he closed it...i had to give the old man golf claps here 30+ years later. If i did not, it would be ... ah you get it.
i took your suggestion and made it a Top 20. Just posted 20-11. Gonna post 10-1 later today. Did a lot of research and glad I did. Everyone you listed made it with some exceptions.
Man I miss this stuff. The days when good promos could fill the seats. Guys like Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair, Ricky Morton, Jim Cornette and others could talk people into the arenas (especially prior to 1987, before Jim Crockett Jr. was signing the talent to contracts, so they had to talk the fans into the arenas).
LOL.....Ric Flair did a promo immediately after his loss to Savage at WM8 where he screamed "THAT JEZEBEL ELIZABETH!!" I swear to God he said the exact same way Rhodes said it here. Kudos on an awesome promo, Dream. I miss these days.
Researching and in the process of expanding the list to a Top 20. Brody, Superstar, Ole, Hawk will be on it. This is my favorite list so I have to take my time. Michaels is extremely underrated on the mic.
I love when Big Dust adds emphasis: "The whuppin' I'm gonna give you, is gonna be... SHAMEFUL!!!" Big Dust could take a simple word, and you'll be sitting at home thinking: "Damn, I'd hate to be BabyDoll or any of the Horsemen!"
Baby Doll talked about her heel turn in Charlotte when she placed Ric Flair's leg on the ropes. The whole place gasped. And remember the mysterious envelope? It was supposed to show Dusty in bed with a black woman with Dusty wearing lingerie. Coincidentally, he would join up with Sapphire in the WWE a year and a half later.
That Dussy Rhodes can cut a great innervieew! I love it when he gets to wheezin when he gets awl inna latha...IF YEW WHEEEEEL!!! Tell 'em who is the hit maker the record breaker big Dust!
If i had to make a list of the greatest talkers in our business it would be 1. Ric Flair 2. Randy Savage 3. Stone Cold Steve Austin 4. Dusty Rhodes 5. Shawn Micheals 6. Roddy Piper 7. The Rock 8. Scott Hall 9. Raven 10. Rick Rude
With all the "Boogeyman" talk, I'm surprised no one has asked if this is where Jim Ross got "Jezebel" from. Cause he sure likes to use it. Thoughts anyone?
i love the way he says "jezebel". that man was a masterclass and a standard in cutting promos. a true people's champ. we will miss him. thank you dusty.
DAT...JEZZUHBALE!
"Cause dats where da Boogeyman gon git ya! " 🤣 Rest In Peace Big Dust
R.E. ………...thanks for putting that in spelling for us !!!!!!! I need it
This promo is just incredible. Passion, heart and the good guy talking like a pure badass. The way he lowers voice to quiet disappointment at the end towards babydoll is masterful.
One of the greatest promos ever. Dusty played his part perfectly.
Thank you, Mr. Runnels, for never fixing that lisp. Your promos would not have been the same without it. Hail and farewell, sir.
Man, this dude can give a promo! Dusty is one of the most talented and entertaining wrestlers of all time!
Dreams never die because legends live on forever.
R.I.P. Dusty will miss you buddy.
That Jeezebel put hard times on The Dreeeeeem Daddeh
Dusty's promos should be required material to study for every performer in the WWE..If they did that, the programs would improve ten-fold
They are. Dusty was the promo coach at the PC.
His ric flair, and Roddy piper as well
Forget just the WWE, I think all Theatre Majors in colleges across the country should be watching this in study.
I agree looking at Dusty Rhodes promos should geva requirement for all new wrestlers coming into WWE
I agree 100% All promos nowadays seem like scripts they memorize rather than speak from the heart. Who knows Dusty better than Dusty? He knows his character .

you still alive??
The Dream maybe dead, but he will live on in our hearts!
Summer of 86...Dusty vs the Horseman...great memories...RIP big guy
I thought Dusty was going to have an aneurysm when he said “JEZEBEL!!!”
One of the greatest to ever do it! R.I.P Dusty
The Dream goes on Forever. Thank you Dusty for all those great performances. May you rest easy big man. God Bless.
Dusty Rhodes what a legend. Young people don't understand how great he was
I loved the personality the wrestlers had back then...They really knew how to have charisma in front of the camera...Dusty was one of the great interviews of all time
Are you alive and well? 15yrs is a long time.
I'm glad I grew up in the 80's...NWA/WCW was like family in my house.

R.I.P. to the American Dream :(
Bob Caudle was the announcer interviewing Dusty Toads. In 2007, he suffered two heart attacks, but he is still living in North Carolina.
Toutes mes condoléances à sa famille. On a encore perdu une des plus grandes légendes du catch. Triste jour.
Babydoll was one of them women that even if she turned on you, you still wanted her. Like Woman and Missy.
She still looks pretty good
And Miss Elizabeth and Sensation Sister Scary Sherri too as well!
In my opinion - the best interview in the history of professional wrestling.
'The whippin you gon get is gon be shameful''
Wow. I swear I MISS the 80s THAT was the prime of the wrestling promo
Dusty Rhodes is the master of cutting promos...WOW !! He sure knows how to get the fans hyped up.
Easily still the best promo ever...
Shameful!!!!!!!! Sleep well champ
Ahh heck. You just broke my heart. Im 44 and all these years I thought it was real.
I loved the way he shook his body when he said " JEZEBEL"...lmao
You know its going to be a great promo when it starts with "Lemme tell you something".
The American Dream best promo man ever tied with The Nature Boy Ric Flair
This joint is one of my favorites... I'm glad now...
the mic skills of the wrestling in those days were legendary...there's nothing better ever than Rhodes v. Horsemen of the 80's...the Dream Lives!!!
0:38 this second of time should be on every soundboard around the world.
will be very sadly missed, was one of the best talkers and wrestlers of all time
Big dust and ric flair best ever on the mic.r.i.p.part of my childhood gone but never 4 gotten. .
I just loved this...Dusty Rhodes is the man.
When wrestling was wrestling!!!!! Love you, Dusty!!
Thank you very much. It was a lot of research but seeing Superstar and Jake changed my whole concept of how good a promo should be. I welcome everybody's comments

The best ever on a mic
he sounds like a black new orleans preacher...one of the all time greats!
If there had been a Duthty Rhodes Baptist Church, I'd have been there every Sunday morning front row
i was not sold on the description until he closed it...i had to give the old man golf claps here 30+ years later. If i did not, it would be ... ah you get it.
i took your suggestion and made it a Top 20. Just posted 20-11. Gonna post 10-1 later today. Did a lot of research and glad I did. Everyone you listed made it with some exceptions.
Dusty no longer being with us is...shameful. God speed Dream. See you at the Wrestlemania in the sky.
Bob Caudle was the announcer interviewing Dusty Toads. In 2007, he suffered two heart attacks, but he is still living in North Carolina.
Top 10 stick man of all time on anybody's list. RIP Dream
"the whippin you gonna get is gonna be SHAMEFUL" Beautiful, great work from the one and only American Dream!
Any of you 50 something’s remember seeing this promos in the 80s?
Man I miss this stuff. The days when good promos could fill the seats. Fabric of my childhood
Pound for pound still the best interview ever on TV.
Short and sweet hell of a promo

"Daddy why that white man talkin like he black"
"Thats blue eyed soul, child. Don't interrupt the Dream"
Generalizing people based on race
Cute
Well said, Dusty. Well said.
Shameful!!!!! #RipDream
"And Baby Doll... (thinking: I can't promote violence against women)... shame on you mama."
I love when Big Dust adds emphasis: "The whuppin' I'm gonna give you, is gonna be... SHAMEFUL!!!"
Big Dust could take a simple word, and you'll be sitting at home thinking: "Damn, I'd hate to be BabyDoll or any of the Horsemen!"

In the annals of sports history, there is Muhammad Ali.. and Dusty Rhoades.
This is wrestling, baby! Been many years since watching quality.
Nobody talks it up like the American Dream!!!

3. Stone Cold Steve Austin
4. Dusty Rhodes
5. Shawn Micheals
6. Roddy Piper
7. The Rock
8. Scott Hall
9. Raven

This is a great clip Babydoll was a jezebel and tully broke big dusty s leg and that shameful
Dusty Rhodes was a master on the mic. He was the perfect "simple country boy" opposite to Ric's jet-setting playboy ways.
Absolutely excellent video. Rhodes at his finest. Today's rasslin is a joke compared to this golden era.
