Seems like a simple enough solution! I have been looking into options of pre-made brackets ($$$) and have actually seen a lot of people unhappy with how high the seat sits using them. Your approach actually seems like it would allow the seats to sit lower into the car. I'm thinking of giving this a shot with some Cipher seats. How have things been holding up with your brackets? Do the seats feel nice and firmly planted, not bounce up and down? Thanks for sharing your video!
spoolinpos yea man quite Easy to do and a hell of a lot cheaper.. never had issues with height and the eclipse is a pretty small car. And yea seats are solid no movement at all if you do it right and get a think steel you won’t have any issues.. The ones I made here Have held up great I did get a couple tack welds on there but honestly don’t think that was necessary just use lock washers or Loctite.
I just found this video so I have a few questions... one question did you do this stuff yourself I'm assuming you did since you're DIY like I am. How hard was it steering wheel to do? I love the interior that how did you get the carbon fiber wrap to stay on the dash I have a lot of trouble trying to do that. You have like everything that I'm working on and that's my colors definitely an inspiration for what I'm working on my 99 Eclipse Spyder.
Yes I do everything myself. the steering wheel wasn’t to bad I I had to relocate the cruise control and the horn was a bit tricky other then that really quite easy just need the steering wheel and a hub to mount it. As for the wrap.. I cleaned it really good any armorall or anything still on there will cause an issue use a degreaser needs to be very clean. Also get a quality wrap something with a good adhesive mine has been on there for years and I don’t think a single spot has peeled up. If you have any questions along the way I have no problem trying to help you out good luck on your project
How do you take those rivets or I bolts out, I bought some new racing seats and I need the feet from the old seats but those bolts are what's stopping me from putting them on. Thanks
I used a grinder. Just grind or cut one side off and it will fall out of the other side. If u don't have a grinder you might be able to break it with a hammer and flat screwdriver.
were you able to connect the sliders to all the drilled out brackets from the factory seat.. mine appear to only have enough length to attach one on rear and front
At first I had the same issue so I only used one of the holes on the ones I couldn't fit two... Since then I have had the brackets that were shorter extended.. Just welded a piece of metal on the bracket and drilled new holes sorry it took for ever to write u back if u have any other questions just ask
97-99 best Eclipses
Thanks very much for posting this video. I may have to put new seats into my '91 Eclipse, so the material may be very useful.
Hope it helps. If you have any questions just ask
