Fans begged for Man of Steel 2 for literally a decade. Even if this suit didn't look like something they fished out of the dumpster outside the CW studios, a lot of fans would still (rightfully) be angry.
I just can't seem to be at all interested in this new superman movie because of what they did with Cavil and ending of the story so that James Gunn could make HIS OWN superman movie. I know we will never have another Cavil Superman movie, but I have lost interest in this iteration just like I have lost all interest in Star Wars.
@@robertdean925 IMO Gunn's movies are waaay more fun and entertaining. And they review much better, both by critics and audiences, than Zack Snyder's. But different strokes for different folks. It's all subjective.
Cavill has the acting ability, masculinity, and physical presence to play Superman. This new guy looks like your average cosplayer, trying to get a rock out of his boot. Everything about this image says, "nope".
Henry Cavill: 6'1" David Corenswet: 6'4" Henry Cavill in MoS: 200 lbs David Corenswet in Superman: 240 lbs Acting ability? Cavill's Superman was like cardboard. Masculinity? Subjective at best. Henry Cavill is a good actor, but his Superman was trash.
That's what I was thinking! It has that weird gritty texture thing going on. Not exactly what I would expect from the interior of a spaceship carrying a baby/child. Henry Cavil's suit had issues, too. I would think that Clark Kent might have had a crystalline look/structure made by his Fortress. Something that would shine in the light and slough off dirt. Not something that looks highly military. The one thing I like about Cavil's suit was the removal of the red shorts. While iconic, it was mainly used as a visual concept in the comics and also looked like circus strongman trunks or body builder briefs, reminding the readers of his strength. The first is unnecessary with today's technology, and the second is rarely recognized by the general public. I've heard far more jokes about the red trunks being on the outside of his clothes than anything about what they truly represented. The large iconic stylized "S" symbol is all most need to recognize the character. On a personal note, the red trunks always made me think it highlighted that area, drawing the eye, and in today's world would make it a great visual target (being bright red) for those who wanted to hit Superman.
With no Henry Cavil I won't be interested at the premier. I am approaching all media like I now approach video games. No pre orders, I'll give it a month or so and see what the word of mouth is.
Cavill's a Brit, and his Superman was spot on, but his Superman movies weren't that great. I don't get the devotion to this guy. Superman is an AMERICAN CHARACTER, therefore should be portrayed by an American actor. Just saying.

In the background clearly the Earth is under attack and this Superman is casually booting on his boots as if there's no real hurry for trying to save lives. This Superman version must be on the side of the WEF for reducing world population.

Fans begged for Man of Steel 2 for literally a decade. Then, DC finally announced they were making it, only to pull the rug out barely a month later, humiliate Henry Cavill for no reason, and give us his dollar-store clone instead.
Hell no. Zack Snyder sucks.
@bigpileofpuke Gunn isn't any better lol 😂
@@bigpileofpukeMos was great kiddo
@@robertdean925 IMO Gunn's movies are waaay more fun and entertaining. And they review much better, both by critics and audiences, than Zack Snyder's. But different strokes for different folks. It's all subjective.
James Gunn's DCU will be DOA.
Cavill has the acting ability, masculinity, and physical presence to play Superman. This new guy looks like your average cosplayer, trying to get a rock out of his boot. Everything about this image says, "nope".
you mean "hope", it starts with an S!
👏👏🙌
Henry Cavill: 6'1"
David Corenswet: 6'4"
Henry Cavill in MoS: 200 lbs
David Corenswet in Superman: 240 lbs
Acting ability? Cavill's Superman was like cardboard.
Masculinity? Subjective at best.
Henry Cavill is a good actor, but his Superman was trash.
It looks like they took Cpt America suit and adapted to Superman. 😂😂😂
Very true.
Yeah 100% this lol.
But what happened to the shield--
Oh, oh yeah, that explains everything now..
Gunn has always bagged up his superhero costumes.
I swear, it doesn’t look good at all, I’ve seen cosplay suits that look way better.
With no Henry Cavil I won't be interested at the premier. I am approaching all media like I now approach video games. No pre orders, I'll give it a month or so and see what the word of mouth is.
Clearly you don’t have good taste if you thought he was a good Superman, he was a good looking one but other than that no
Certo, same here. I still buy my media as DVD, Blueray etc.

Agreed!
My biggest issue with it is that it is not Henry Cavill in the suit. Thats all I wanted.
Cavill's a Brit, and his Superman was spot on, but his Superman movies weren't that great. I don't get the devotion to this guy. Superman is an AMERICAN CHARACTER, therefore should be portrayed by an American actor. Just saying.
@@cjstenzel the clue is in the word 'actor'...
@@DeeZire @cjstenzel is not wrong I'm from the UK and liked Henry cavil as superman as well but agree that the American side is integral. You wouldn't cast someone that isn't from the UK, Scotland or Ireland to play James bond. It's the culture aspect that makes characters feel genuine. I loved the Snyder verse but it wasn't good still. I don't understand why people can't embrace something new and someone who cares for the comics. Synder verse is dead that ship has sailed.
@@MUDFLAP2511So why did they cast an American as Sherlock Holmes? He's a British character! The last two Spiderman actors are British, don't hear any complaints! Two Batman actors have been British. If I were to list all the Brits who have played Americans, this comment would go on and on!
@@cjstenzelTom Holland's a Brit. So was Andrew Garfield. And Christian Bale. And Robert Pattinson. Heath Ledger was an Aussie. No doubt there's more.
I'll say it again, the first picture needed to be iconic. Not some jokey thing.
It is iconic, but in a bad way.

That's all Gunn can do. He's a bad fit for Superman. Maybe he could do a Freakazoid movie.

@HavokUnbound that's your opinion. Cavill did a fine job.

First, you haven't even seen the f*ckin movie and its context. Second, BOTH Cavil and Corenswet look like the f*ckin character. So calm tf down, kid.
@@SUP-h9d we didn't need to see either The Justice League or The Suicide Squad films or know their context to know that the films were going to flop hard. The marketing for both films told you everything you needed to know without having to watch them. Everyone is allowed to make predictions and assumptions. And based on the DCEU's history, you can't call out people for having opinions based on what they have seen come before it and the companies strange decisions.
First, Cavill is not and will not be the only Superman. He can’t play him forever, definitely the most overrated and worst written Superman. And I don’t think they care if they lose 1 or more people, this is the first Superman movie in a decade, cinemas will be filled. Superman is to big of a character to just not get an audience
Keep your emo Cavillman, anything better than that
Y'all really need to move on already. 🤦♂️
Hollywood is in the shitter. IF any movie is good, I might rent it. It'll take a few "hits" to get my ass back to a cinema.
We dont have to be sooo negative about it guys. Its just a promo shoot. The guy playing Superman is not that bad. I am Cavil fan, but its ok. I guess we have to wait until the first trailer.
James Gunn is smart and trust his story writing.. this was released to cause a conversation
He puts his boots on like my 82 year old grandpa
Your grandpa probably looks cooler putting his boots on than this clown.
First impression...Sups went from dashing into phonebooths to quickly change and save the day, into casually sitting down as he puts on his boots while the city seems to be getting destroyed. Not the best optics.
Superman getting ready for 3 am shift 😂😂😂
They need to return to the original Christopher Reeve suit with the primary red and blue!
As far as this released photo goes, I think everyone is reading WAY too much into it.
Wow! Bring back Henry Cavill.

I said this for many years. Gunn is garbage. Wants to employ his family. That’s all. The guy is trash. This will be dead on arrival.
I don't think it will be completely dead on arrival, but it's only going to do mediocre like I feel The Suicide Squad did if this is the vibe for the whole movie.
There is already a massive laser being shot in the background and Clark is slowly suiting up … Christopher Reeve would have already been punching the thing!
Christopher Reeve would turn back time before putting on his boots.

That reveal was completely underwhelming.
Oh yeah it is all over the internet
In the background clearly the Earth is under attack and this Superman is casually booting on his boots as if there's no real hurry for trying to save lives. This Superman version must be on the side of the WEF for reducing world population.
While Superman is putting on his boots Goku and Vegeta are having a beam struggle.

We got Superman at home! 😂

He looks like hes getting ready to attend a Holloween party.
I don’t get why people claim they won’t watch this movie because it’s not Henry Cavill. This will be like the 11th or 12th actor to play Superman in live version (tv or movies). The specific actor doesn’t matter. If the movie is good then watch it. If it’s terrible then don’t.
the most disturbing thing is that a guy named james gunn made superman...i hate guardians of the galaxy that wasnt movies it was more tv show with idiots in space than dc goes ok lets this idiot make superman

I don’t think that picture is of Superman. I think it’s a picture of Ultraman. No one, not DC, not James Gunn, ever captioned or said this is the new Superman. They just released this pic and said Get Ready. There’s rumor that there will be an Ultraman or Superman evil dopplegsnger to contend with. To me it’s highly likely this is him not our Superman. He’s not smiling, he’s in a penthouse (which real Clark wouldn’t be in), there’s chaos in the background and he’s looking like he don’t give a f. I’m a huge Superman fan and I hated man of steel, bvs, and didn’t even watch justice league (because it had bad reviews and I didn’t like MOS or BVS). I hated the grim universe by Snyder. It was so dreary to me. I feel like you want a hopeful cheerful happy and heroic Superman which I want to. What makes you think he’s gonna make Superman goofy?
But you still haven’t answered my question. What about James Gunn’s movies SPECIFICALLY don’t you like? Is it just the goofiness? What about GOTG turned you off? The comedy?

The fact we don't know the context of the background and Supermans lack of urgency is what is ticking people off most I think
