- I've had way too many people tell me washed chicken tastes better. They say you are washing off "The raw chicken smell/taste". My main goal of this video is to figure out once and for all... Does washed chicken taste better?
I Shampoo and blow dry mine then a nice massage.
I let mine marinate in an asian spa for that oriental flavor
🤣🤣🤣
I only rinse off my chicken to get rid of the sliminess. And also because there are some bone fragments from the butcher cutting it. But I too grew up in a African American house that you thought you were supposed to “wash” it to get the “germs” off. But then I realized that’s ridiculous and cooking it is what kills the germs, lol.
I rinse it but not for the reasons everyone else does. The juices from the chicken are slimy and make handling difficult so I rinse them which makes handling much easier and Pat them dry so I can brine or season.
Patting then dry with a paper towel will do the exact same as washing it, with regards to ease of handling.
Some people, whose names I won't mention, believe they don't need a wash cloth to bathe/shower. Why would I listen to their rules??? I don't believe taste was ever part of the equation or question. It's nasty people out here who have no hygiene rules. We see them all the time. Washing gives me the confidence that I've done all I can do to make it live up to my standards. Yall'z can feel free to eat all the durdy chicken your stomachs can hold. 😀
No restaurant washes there chicken so why do it at home
Depends on the restaurant
@kristalj7363 The restaurant washing chicken is breaking health codes in that case.
It's like brining the meat, it wouldn't be breaking a health code,
Everyone doesn't do what he is doing, lemon and vinegar kill bacteria, and cuts fat it's very acidic, Ceviche is made by "cooking" the fish in lemon and lime juice due to the high amount of acid, but you have to know what your doing, people are saying wash but you actually wash rice and clean meat, the cheaper quality meat are usually the ones you'll have to clean, just like when you buy a whole fish it's much cheaper, but you'll have to clean it
I always wash my chicken with water, lemon or lime and vinegar
you are supposed to fill the bowl with water and lemon juice and let the chicken sit. then rise then go in with rubbing the lemon on the chicken.
I always soak my chicken with vinegar and plain tap water for a good 10 minutes. I rinse clean and begin normal prep process.
.... Why?
If you want to make some fried chicken the slimy chicken water helps the flower stick better before an egg wash and corn starch bread crumb seasoning blend. Its too damn hot to be in the oven lol
Lol, wash them.
Uh we wash chicken to clean it not make it taste better. We also remove the slime ands mucus.
I don’t wash the chicken but thanks to you, I’m having lemon pepper chicken thighs for dinner!!!😂😂
Sounds great!
And no to the polish😂
Washed chicken did have a different taste
I wash my chicken parts not for flavor, I'd marinate it for more flavor it that's the case. I mainly do it to get rid of the unwanted fat. I leave some on for flavor but the slime and chunks of fat I can't do. My chicken still comes out bomb every time but to each their own. It's a part of the culture for a reason, even if some don't understand. 😉
Every kitchen is different, just like every cook is different.
If you wash your chicken 🐔 you're a monkey 🙈
