Thanks for the great video, recently changed the brake line and was worry I would need to go to the dealership to reset the abs module, hopefully this solves that problem
Another good video in the books. We have a lot in common. I've been in the machine build industry for over 27 years. I started as a welder. I have been a mechanical assembler, electrician, machinist, fabricator, field service technician, and now I do mechanical design.
All good fun over the years my friend 👍. Although apparantly my oil was out of date according to one comment 🤣. But there is always one 😁. Have you looked at that software yet ?👍
@@ALCHEMOTO I have looked at it, and I will get it sometime soon. I'm going to try some more stuff with the free software first, then maybe I'll do a video or two as well.
Heck of a instructional video ALCHEMOTO! I definitely learned something new, and has given me the confidence in doing this procedure with my own bike. Thank you for the info and how to! Oh, and your bike sounds amazing! That exhaust you have on it plays such a fine note from that Sportster power plant! Ride and stay safe!
Thanks J.D 👍. Everything is all about knowing. The point of my garage series is to help and save people time and money on mechanical issues and service tech, so if one person gets it. Im happy 👍. You made a very good video there my friend, very informative especially the ABS system. I have bled brakes on many cars and bikes in the past, however they never had ABS so this was good to know. Cheers buddy stay safe up there.
Cheers Paul 👍. Yes, same here, tons of vehicles without, and also a ton with, and only the abs block is the one you cant purge without the tool to open, but I will get the purist technophobe comments , I guarantee 😁. But as I said, 99%of fluid changed is better than none 👍
Cheers 👍.. you would be surprised how many people struggle with neutral light. First is to check the wiring connector bottom of frame, the switch itself is in the casing though. Also, sometimes just readjusting clutch free play can help as more positive shift to neutral helps with the switch. Worth trying before opting for new switch. Most common problem with signals are the wiring under rear fender, or at the connector under seat. Have a play with these and hopefully problems are just connectors in wiring 👍
You shouldnt get a code if bled normally . I have done a few block changes and bled as normal, the abs module wont be open so any air will bleed from normal service line , just keep reservoirs topped until pressure back after bleeding 👍
Just bleed through same way after fitting extensions and splitter block . The abs valve wont be open so just bleed as normal. Theres a bit on this and fitting bars in my other recent video of the custom build 48 where we fitted bars/extensions etc. This bike then did 1000 mile following week with no abs faults , just to show it will be fine. Any air in system will bleed down to caliper. 👍
@@ALCHEMOTO Awesome!! Thanks!! I’ve been holding off on my bars cause if that H-D bill. I feel confident about doing it myself now. I’ll go back and watch your previous videos. Keep up the awesome content. Very helpful.
Hi Alchemoto .. I replaced the stock handlebars on my lil' Iron and now need a new front brake line . It has an ABS system . Once the new line along with the ABS tee fitted , it will be full of air . Anything i should know about the procedure to make sure i don't introduce any air to the ABS unit ? Hopefully you get to see this and have the time to reply . Great work buddy . I use your method (one way valve tube) to bleed my brakes and never had an issue .
Hi mate.. just use the same method with one way valve as air will only be in the front line and not the abs main valve block , purge it fully and shouldnt be a problem.. thats how ive done all of mine and abs light always off 👍. Cheers 👌
I tried to bleed front brakes today, i done as per your video connected the one way valve as soon as i opened the bleeder valve i noticed brake fluid running down the caliper from the bleeder. any advise what was my mistake.
You mean from where the tube goes on nipple?. Only loosen off the nipple slightly, too much and fluid will escape from base of nipple. Or if tube loose and not snug.. or is it from somewhere else?
@theosid5099 ok mate 👍. Just open nipple quarter turn. Its just excess, but will potentially suck air back..but you will get a sweat around the base anyway .👍
Brilliant every days a school day... I purchased one of those one way valves bleeders a while ago, and after watching this I’ve been using it all wrong!!! Didn’t know about leaving the bleed nipple open all the time, I was opening & closing it while pumping the lever 🙄 hence it’s never worked for me.. luckily I never threw it away 👍 can I just ask... the arrow on the valve towards the bottle... or the lever ? Would think it goes down but wanted to double check.. Thanks and great vid 👍👍
😁. Thanks mate, and yes, arrow to bottle. By putting a small amount of fluid into bottle before you start ensures ,if the valve sticks, it wont draw air back through system. Only easy when you know how 👍👍
Nice bike and video. Allow me some advices, when taking out the cap from the brakes lid never leave it upside down, also the color of the oil is irrelevant, after few years you shoud just check for how much water is inside your oil. So color have other meaning. Chack your brakes oil every few years and the levels of water inside the oil must be below 3 % defenetly below 4. Also longer tube gives you more control than that leight,, try a longer one it prevents more bubbles and you more. Never just purge the brakes without opening and closing the nipple downthere with the wrench mate, if you have bubblescas you can see in the tank's holes while you are pumping in your sistem you are just keeping them inside! more air less breaking effectiveness more moisture! Use the rounded part of the wrench so it doesn't come out each time and stays all around the draining nipple. Best work if you can bleed out the bike in a higher position tho. Measure the initial oil level inside your tank if it's not drained much as well. fill the oil max till the tank oil window internal frame not more. Have a look at these very helpful videos as well mate: 1 ua-cam.com/video/J5nuh39VAu8/v-deo.html 2 ua-cam.com/video/twgmmQ7Livw/v-deo.html 3 ua-cam.com/video/xmTTKMeSAgg/v-deo.html Hope it helps to improve. Often when you first take the cap off the reservoir, you can see water in the bottom of the reservoir, looks like orange bubbles in the bottom. You can take a syringe and suck the water out first before the bleed, it's that much less water to deal with. From time to time you can remove the cap and just pull the water out, it will always be in the bottom at the lowest point.
