Thank you for this video. You have no idea how much this helped me in my pilots interview with a major Asian carrier. The 777 fleet manager and I talked for 45 minutes about this aircraft. And I got hired!
I always love to see ppls responses to the 777 as it makes me SO proud of my dad as my dad designed part of the 777. He dealt with their radar systems/radar dome, GPS, antennas, and communication systems. Of course like normal most of these were originally created for the US military and then modified for civilian markets.
As a 4 decade airline employee , I can say it's the most beautiful reliable aircraft. The new x series is perhaps the most impressive of all. As I get ready for retirement I hope to see my airline fly the x series before I leave. Since we were first to fly it and was integral in its design. , I'm sure it will be flown for years to come.

Triple 7 is a massive beauty with an unusually good safety record. 1500+ made and only 5 major incidents (caused by excessive water in fuel, inexperienced pilots, one suicidal pilot and one shot down) this is impressive! Rare for the industry.

Mark Small Actually, none of them can. Look it up. One was shot down by a Russian missle, as ironic as that is. Another due to a short in the wiring, another was the fault of the RR engine. And so on.
A short circut (EgyptAir) is a fault and should be held against the aircraft. Luckily no one was injured. The BA RR incident is also a an aircraft problem as the engine is part of the aircraft no matter if it is made by a third party. That said the 777 is still one of the safest aircraft ever made only surpassed by the A340. It is worth noting that no one has lost their lives owed to a fault related to the aircraft.

787 has had zero hull losses as far as I'm aware. Still, modern aircraft are amazing all round. They've got this pretty well down to a science - when they don't screw it up like a certain currently grounded aircraft.

Have you seen the 5 part "Building the 777"? It's long. Each part is an hour or a little longer, but it goes from design to the first delivery to United Airlines. Its, I think, THE definitive 777 documentary.
Oh my god, yes you are absolutely correct! I hate robot voice in videos, I immediately vote down and quit watching them. I can't stand the artificial voice.
You need to make one of these about the boeing 747-SP! Also your choice of words and your script is top notch, you talk more eloquently than 99% of native English speakers here in the south ;)
I once felt the massive acceleration of the GE engines on the 200LR. As this version uses the same engines like the 300ER but less weight, the boost is enormous.
Very entertaining, educational and informative video! I always learn something from your uploads. I think the 777 is one beautiful plane! Thank you for the upload!
I’m an Aircraft Engineer and I appreciate your videos, they’re factually correct and very interesting . Thanks for your efforts. May I request reviews of UK aircraft BAC111 and VC10??
I have flown twice now to Australia on the 300ER -- FANTASTIC airliner -- Air New Zealand Vancouver to Auckland 14 hrs. -- FANTASTIC airline with FANTASTIC crews!!!
I work customer service for a credit card company and I commonly receive calls asking for me to add a travel notification. As I close the call, I always wish my customers a fast flight and soft landing. Thanks for the line!
The best flight I ever had was on 777 from Amsterdam to NYC operated by KLM . Great plane , great service. On time. It is what air travel should be. I understand four engine aircraft are too costly to operate, but my old love was the 747. I flew it many times and grew to love it.
I’m glad I found this channel. The videos on planes are well-researched and provide a lot of interesting information for laymen like me. - Petaling Jaya, Malaysia
I think this is the best so far in your series. I particularly appreciate your comparisons between the 777 and other, even earlier, wide-bodied aircraft. @~8:28, the mention of the "early" -200 with video of the aircraft taking off with numerous construction sites on the horizon was poetic! Any great video begins with good copy writing, and your compositions are excellent. Keep up your great work!
Even though English isn't your first language, I'm amazed at how well your grammar is and your range of vocabulary! Keep making these descriptive and awesome videos! I love your content!!

Many of the shots were taken at PDX airport Portland Oregon International airport my old home airport for 50 years but now my home airport is CNX Chiang Mai Thailand am retired now love the 777
First time I saw this magnificent plane was on a Delta flight from Concinnati, Ohio to Istanbul. We flew business class and it was the best flight I ever took. The plane is so stable and spacious inside ! Now that Delta has abandoned Cincinnati as a hub, I am sure there will never be another flight to Istanbul.
It's ironic that Qantas was one of the airlines that played a part in the conception and commission of the aircraft when they famously never ended up buying or operating the type...
Love this Aircraft, been monitoring it since it’s beginning! This is an engineering first in aviation! The circumference of it’s engines is the same as the fuselage of the Boeing 737-200!!!!!
Great video, for the ba crash I was there working at LHR. For the emirates crash I had just taken ( about 0 min or so) off from the same runway . The 777 has been a great aircraft for airlines let hope the 777-9 and 8 live up to it family legacy
EXCELLENT shot -- at 5:58 -- of the "semi-levered gears" in action... a genius engineering solution to lower the risk of tailstrike in the extended-fuselage, higher gross weight -300. This solution avoided the need to lengthen the struts and consequently have to re-design the wheel wells and wings. Watch the trucks tilt forward at the beginning of the retract sequence.
My favorite Boeing aircraft is the 757, I love the long slender body and the front nose and windshield. Even though I prefer Airbus , Boeing is still good too.
My parents and I flew on the Boeing 777 several times since 2011. It was only the -300ER variant of the 777 we flew with EVA Air and Philippine Airlines. The 777 was a great airplane with a wide cabin interior and an ability to fly for more than 14 hours. My best experiences on the 777 was the engine sounds and the seat-back entertainment system equipped by EVA Air and Philippine Airlines.
I just started working on 777 in Everett Wa and have worked at Airbus in Hamburg Germany where they build the A350. Both awesome airplanes! Cool to see all the footages from my new daytime home, the 777 & 747 assembly hangar!
I was able to fly in the 777 five times on very long flights to three continents in five days and enjoyed it, it was a very smooth and comfortable plane. It was a very long plane in my perception.
I had the honor to have flown with three pax sub-models (200ER, 200LR, 300ER) with United Airlines and Air Canada. I really loved the flights, what a great plane.
The SF crash was pilot error all the way. The two Malaysian disasters were the result of geopolitics gone awry, so the planes weren't at fault with those, either.
The one in SF when it did a 360 upon landing and stayed together had investigators in disbelief as when a plane typically spins upon crashing, it's usually carnage. They couldn't believe that it endured such significant stresses and didn't break as so many before it had. A plane the size of a 747 broke its tail off at touch down, spun around, and everyone buckled in walked away.
A very well done video. The only thing you might add would be some data on fatalities per mile and/or hour flown; simply citing 500-odd fatalities makes the number sound very high. You could also add a bit more detail as to whether findings on the causes of incidents reflected on the design of the 777 in any way.
One pilot flew into the seawall (SF) , another straight vanished (MH), one got shot down (MH), one had an engine blow up (GE's fault), another had a leak due to maintenance failure, the BA crash w/ ice in the filters only affected RR engines, and one was lost due to a short in the wiring. None failed due to a manufacturing or boeing design defect. I'd say that's a damn fine record.
I've been on a triple 7 loads of times and I love it, they are plenty big enough and give a fantastic flying experience. Also better with Rolls Royce engines........ Massive thumbs up for the trip!! I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing the triple X up close when she arrives, those GE 9X engines are HUGE!!😉🇬🇧🇺🇸
I have gotten to fly this plane by accident last week (United Boeing 777-200 not sure if it was ER or not) from SFO to HNL due to a delay leaving BUF. I was impressed with this plane (it was also my first widebody plane I ever been on).
The fuel prices are too blame, the 777 showed the aviation industry that 4 engine planes will be useless. The 787 is also showing that there won’t be large planes needed if you want to fly farther in low capacity and efficiently. Majority airlines are moving away from the hub and spoke model. Point to point is far economical
Hub and spoke wasn't killed by an aircraft, it was killed because passengers prefer direct flights, and shord flights are the worst thing for the longevity of pressurized aircraft.
Cronoviajero yeah she’s the undisputed queen. But the MD-11 and L-1011 shouldn’t be discounted either. Two great planes introduced at the wrong times (I specified MD-11 over DC-10 on purpose)
The 747 dramatically changed all the rules, once the Queen was in wide use fares dropped allowing most anyone the ability to fly. The 777 brought the multi engine mode being capable of very long flights on just two power plants. The Airbus 340 was cooked once the 777 was in use. Given the billions of miles the 777 has flown its safety record is impressive. The Asians crash at SFO was one of the worst cases of pilot incompetence I’ve ever come across. Three senior pilots in the cockpit, not one was monitoring the speed, altitude or sink rate. No one could confirm whether the auto pilot was on or off, they assumed it was on. The Eastern Airlines crash in the Everglades is similar three pilots no one checked the altitude, they were completely engrossed in a defective landing gear light.
@@bobbypaluga4346 And the incredible pounding that 777 took and still stayed intact shows the incredible durability of the 777. Cant wait to see the 777X start flight testing!
Work for a major u.s. carrier for over 40 years, seen many aircraft, variants, size, not only has the industry changed , the 777 has a place everywhere , worldwide, any route. I will say I was shocked at some routes my airline flew with the 777. It’s a roomy, comfortable airplane for long haul. Very popular with our customers, crew rests are much better than old. Most u.s. carriers seem to hold on to their airplanes longer than most, so united, delta and American do not have plans anytime soon to replace the current fleet. However in a few years they will have to and I’m sure they will choose 777x and ge9x. Makes all the sense in the world. Meanwhile Boeing hopefully will be pouring out the 797. Favorite variant is the -300. A most perfect aircraft for everyone and in my opinion large enough.
The A380 is white elephant, The A340 got killed off, a330neos and a350 are getting smashed by the Dreamliner and finally the a350 has being outsold by the 777. Only the -900 is the Hot cake😎 Airbus should focus more in their a320NEO Boeing is a widebody and true long haul dominator
Suicidal in Cleveland The A380 is a failure LOL if you can’t admit it don’t reply to me, the a330neo sales are poor and the a350-900 is their actual Bright Light, you are an idiot if you think they are doing better than Boeing there. Oh well carry on...
The 787 only outsells the A350 and A330NEO because it's built on the cheap, and was developed for sale instead of flight. If the 787 was actually designed and built as a proper Boeing, it probably wouldn't have beaten the competition to market and not have outpriced the competition. The 787 is in concept a wonderful airplane, but Boeing screwed it up royally when they put too much into effort marketability over flight safety.
David Lemmo At this point in time, the only issue that concerns B787 customers are the RR engines they selected. Hope RR will fix the mess to see more Dreamliners in the sky.
The Dreamliner is still produced in South Carolina, where labor laws favor company over labor, by nonunion workers, who are less experienced and paid less than their counterparts in Everett. Also, Boeing never replaced the unsafe battery that caused the fleet to be grounded early on, they just entombed it in a steel box.
I've flown the T7 2 times (300ER), the cabin air was really bad, I felt sick after both flights. On the same day, I flown another route (even longer) with the A350, even longer, without any problems. Aircraft from the 21st century like the A380, A350 and also the 787 are much more comfortable than the T7. The T7 is a 90's aircraft in its roots. It may be a good aircraft economically, but in comfort there are much better aircraft today, from Airbus and also from Boeing.
One request: I'd really like to see your take on the Boeing 737-ER. Most of my Hawaii-US Mainland flights are on 737-ERs and I really don't like them, despite their airworthiness and fuel efficiency. What do you think?
The 777 is just amazing. It's the best and most successful twin engine wide body aircraft ever. I am sure the 777X will be another success, can't wait to see it's first flight. That picture at 10:59 is just amazing, you can really see the huge size difference between a 737 and a 777.
You forgot to Mention how British Airways got involved with the Production of the Boeing 777 and how British Airways were the first Airline to fly the Boeing 777.☺️
Interesting post, Van Romondt. Liked. This is a simple semantics issue, where the set of criteria on which "best" is based was not established. Should "best" be predicated on aeronautical achievements, commercial prowess, airframe versatility, longevity of service, some combination of these things, or something else entirely? Which was the "best" spyplane, for instance, the U-2 or the SR-71? Well, that depends, but I know which one I'm voting for!
As an airplane and what it did, the concorde would take you to NYC in 3 hours in luxury while the 777 would take 7-8 hours. Make your choice, either way I like the 777 but prefer the A330 for being more quiet, and more stable during turbulence. (Flown both, my opinion)
Also what I learned from those disasters is that this plane actually SURVIVES bad landings well. Three bad accidents.... One where the plane flipped around and people lived!!! That's amazing!
TheJonnyrat you are one hell of a nasty little man, and have the brain power of a canary at best. Why don't you try and act smarter as least once in your life and give credit where it's due. Airbus has been leading the industry with Boeing for decades now, "crap" objectively doesn't apply to either one. I'm a huge fan of Airbus but still know how to appreciate great aircraft, even Boeing ones.

THANK YOU! Been waiting for a good 777 documentary and this didn't disappoint :)
Have you seen the 5 part "Building the 777"? It's long. Each part is an hour or a little longer, but it goes from design to the first delivery to United Airlines. Its, I think, THE definitive 777 documentary.
You are hands down one of my favorite UA-cam video producers. Definitely one of the best in the aviation section. Keep em coming !
Best airline channel with the best narration. Subscribed immediately.
love your accent. Sounds way better than any synthesized voice. Keep up the good work.
He is russian) He has another chanel on russian language. :)
Oh my god, yes you are absolutely correct! I hate robot voice in videos, I immediately vote down and quit watching them. I can't stand the artificial voice.
I used this in my flight from NRB to LAX in 2009... it was smooth all the way! the incident with 737 MAX is very unfortunate... :(
You need to make one of these about the boeing 747-SP! Also your choice of words and your script is top notch, you talk more eloquently than 99% of native English speakers here in the south ;)
That 777 looks cool especially with those ge90's
And because of that I'm very excited for the 777x and ge9x
Don't be disappointed that the GE9X produces less thrust than the GE90! "More efficient" isn't sexy, I know...
Myhalko 33 Me too.☺️
The GE90s are practically sex in jet turbine form.
Razordraac definitely.😂😂☺️
I once felt the massive acceleration of the GE engines on the 200LR. As this version uses the same engines like the 300ER but less weight, the boost is enormous.
love the 777...engines make that unique sound when landing and taking off
I love the 777, but sad to see the 747's go.
Their legacy will live on in Air Force One.
@@Edax_Royeaux And in cargo service
Very entertaining, educational and informative video! I always learn something from your uploads. I think the 777 is one beautiful plane! Thank you for the upload!
I’m an Aircraft Engineer and I appreciate your videos, they’re factually correct and very interesting . Thanks for your efforts. May I request reviews of UK aircraft BAC111 and VC10??
Robert Meehan Thank you for watching) The VC10 will be here soon)
Great video, very informative. Most happy to hear 777x planes will have pressure and humidity like the 787...it makes a difference.
I’m glad I found this channel. The videos on planes are well-researched and provide a lot of interesting information for laymen like me.

Come out from under your rock.
Love of my life. The 777! It is my favourite aircraft.
Great airplane to fly in the simulator, too. It is my favorite.
I'm a Lockheed Tristar fan myself, but I can see the 777 outdoing the 747 over the decades. Amazing safety record.
Even though English isn't your first language, I'm amazed at how well your grammar is and your range of vocabulary! Keep making these descriptive and awesome videos! I love your content!!
I am loving accent. Saying Hello to Moose and Squirrel for me!
Absolutely the best presentation of the history of the Triple 7 EVER! A job well done!
Thank you for this. I love this plane also and I think the X models are just what the markets want.
I am so glad that I found your channel. Your videos are FANTASTIC and flawless. Your narration only adds to your videos. I like the way you explain everything and I am actually gaining some knowledge from you. Thank you so very much!!!
Many of the shots were taken at PDX airport Portland Oregon International airport my old home airport for 50 years but now my home airport is CNX Chiang Mai Thailand am retired now love the 777
Skyships has the best Airline documentaries
Ty Skyships! This is one of your best vids! And i absolutely love it. its very knowledgeable and juicy with info. Good Job!
Lachlan Keddie pretty dumb decision not to I think. The A330s do alright, but the 777s would’ve done a lot better.
In hindsight not a great decision was it?
Love this Aircraft, been monitoring it since it’s beginning! This is an engineering first in aviation! The circumference of it’s engines is the same as the fuselage of the Boeing 737-200!!!!!
Absolutely amazing. I love nerding out about the 777 and this is just perfect!
Agreed.
Same!!😆
The Triple 7, along with it's " baby sister", the 757, are the BEST planes that Boeing ever built. I love them both !! ❤💜💖💖
The greatest commercial plane series ever
These videos are just outstanding! Narrator _Sky_ is absolutely excellent!
Thank you for being reasonable. This from a Boeing fan (who also likes Airbus)
I love these videos. Keep it up. I hope you reach 1 million subs soon.
I will be a long way but the channel is good
I'm very impressed with both the 777 and 787. Good job on both, Boeing.
This is a really good video, of a really good aircraft. Well done
I just started working on 777 in Everett Wa and have worked at Airbus in Hamburg Germany where they build the A350. Both awesome airplanes! Cool to see all the footages from my new daytime home, the 777 & 747 assembly hangar!
Great video. Thanks.
The Boeing 777 is indeed a modern marvel. With its massive twin engines it has become the workhorse of the skies.
"Crew recreation area" hahaha, well that's one way of looking at it
777 Pilot here. Wow I'm impressed with your video . And yes it is a great ✈ plane!
I love the 777-300ER
I was able to fly in the 777 five times on very long flights to three continents in five days and enjoyed it, it was a very smooth and comfortable plane. It was a very long plane in my perception.
Can't waits for the 777x first flight. Been on reveal on March 13, hope to be on on field for the first flight.

I had the honor to have flown with three pax sub-models (200ER, 200LR, 300ER) with United Airlines and Air Canada. I really loved the flights, what a great plane.
15:55 Only three people died after it flipped over? That's nothing short of a miracle. Sad, of course, but it could have been many times worse.
well only 2 died in the crash the other was run over by a firetruck
The SF crash was pilot error all the way. The two Malaysian disasters were the result of geopolitics gone awry, so the planes weren't at fault with those, either.
1 of em shouldn’t even die.
And the two that did die weren't wearing their seatbelt upon landing. So really, no one should've died.
I flew from Europe to India on a 777 in the 1990s. It's THE greatest jet plane I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.
Same for me. SFO to ORD on a 777 was the best flight I can remember.
Same for me. SFO to ORD on a 777 was the best flight I can remember.
A very well done video.
The only thing you might add would be some data on fatalities per mile and/or hour flown; simply citing 500-odd fatalities makes the number sound very high. You could also add a bit more detail as to whether findings on the causes of incidents reflected on the design of the 777 in any way.
Proud to be working as an engineer on one of 777x software programs...🤘
Some of the 777 crashes were pilot error though .____.
Oh, really!?..So when a system on your car fails, I guess that's driver error!?
For the Asiana crash, the captians flew so low so they crashed on the runway.
I'd say that's a damn fine record.
and one was aliens
I've been on a triple 7 loads of times and I love it, they are plenty big enough and give a fantastic flying experience. Also better with Rolls Royce engines........ Massive thumbs up for the trip!!
I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing the triple X up close when she arrives, those GE 9X engines are HUGE!!😉🇬🇧🇺🇸
I love the 777!
777 lovers club)
Why?
I have gotten to fly this plane by accident last week (United Boeing 777-200 not sure if it was ER or not) from SFO to HNL due to a delay leaving BUF. I was impressed with this plane (it was also my first widebody plane I ever been on).
I'm not a really big fan of this plane because it helped kill off the 747. I don't hate it though, it looks so damn sexy with those GE-90s.
David Boeing 7X7 blame fuel prices too
LY X well yea, and Osama Bin Laden
And the 787 with defeating the "Hub and Spoke" method of travel
The fuel prices are too blame, the 777 showed the aviation industry that 4 engine planes will be useless. The 787 is also showing that there won’t be large planes needed if you want to fly farther in low capacity and efficiently. Majority airlines are moving away from the hub and spoke model. Point to point is far economical
Hub and spoke wasn't killed by an aircraft, it was killed because passengers prefer direct flights, and shord flights are the worst thing for the longevity of pressurized aircraft.
Discovered your channel recently & i am hooked. Thank you for the informative & humorous way of sharing the info. Love it!

The best airliner of the XX century is the 747. Period.
The best Plane that the world never saw and really engineering A380 Giant, The Plane that Boeing never realize Airbus could be able to make it
GE-90 looks fine af
GE90 are crazy big
Hahaha! So powerful, and with a smooth take off and landing.
Love the B777. The X will come soon to the market to put the last nail in the Airbus’ coffin in the wide body competition.
The A380 is white elephant, The A340 got killed off, a330neos and a350 are getting smashed by the Dreamliner and finally the a350 has being outsold by the 777. Only the -900 is the Hot cake😎
Airbus should focus more in their a320NEO Boeing is a widebody and true long haul dominator
LOVE the Triple 7...awesome bird. Can't wait for the 777X to get into service. :)
It may be a good aircraft economically, but in comfort there are much better aircraft today, from Airbus and also from Boeing.
why don't u just type "777" like a normal human being? what's a t7?!
@@user-tt2fh8nf1o T7 means triple 7, a unofficial short name for 777. It's used widely by aviation enthusiasts.
You sound like a German or Swiss fruitcake.
saves one character (yay!), someone has a really bad data plan there LOL
Boeing aircraft and GE engines. Perfect.
best of the century.... so far... we are only 18 years into it......
XX century)
Its just a big 767, both amazing aircraft though. A beast of an engine on the 777.
Your voice is the reason why i subs :) fits really well to videos about airplanes
Is it me, or do I think that once the 747 is fully retired, they should just give the 777 a 747-like hump?
I hope the 747-8 demand rises because it is a beautiful plane
Put a smoking lounge up there
I remember when I was a kid at Newark Airport, I was amazed by the contrast between sizes of a Continental 777 and an adjacent Continental 737
777 is nearly twice the length and width of the 737
I honestly think the best airliner of the 20th century is the Concorde. Nothing touches the concorde. shame it lies in a museum today.
Concorde is European not American...
Impressive piece of aviation engineering, but not economically viable. Sad to see them go and a piece of metal on a runway, speed up the retirement:(
Well it kind of fail in terms of orders and fuel efficiency and plz don’t blame airlines blame fuel prices these days
Also what I learned from those disasters is that this plane actually SURVIVES bad landings well. Three bad accidents.... One where the plane flipped around and people lived!!! That's amazing!
I prefer the A350 XWB, but I have to admit that the new 777X is so beautiful and efficient!
TheJohnnyrat lmao same
ÁLVARO Peña Suárez me t00 ! Exactly
TheJohnnyrat You are trash
TheJohnnyrat you can’t a plane with taking a look at it’s orders plus airlines don’t most airlines entertainment plane spotters
Wow your making the best aircraft documentaries!...
