Now I know why I’ve always thought makeup doesn’t suit me - I’m a natural type. trying out colourful eyeshadow or lipstick or cat eyeliner always went wrong lol
same for me! i love strong makeups but they never looked great on me so i thought i was doing something really wrong, but it turns out i actually am just structured better for natural makeups

ngl it kinda bummed me at first when i found out i'm natural type. i always like the 'spicy' looks like heavy smoky eyes, cat eyeliner, thick lashes, etc. however, that never look good on me and i thought i just suck at make up. once i changed my style to natural, let me tell you i look like a different person! it's not boring as i thought i was because there's still more room to explore. i embrace it now.

@@Bratzmaniac29stick with what looks good on you. I'm not sure how accurate this typing is for all faces. I found myself giving a score of zero a lot but sometimes +1 or -1 which brought me overall back to zero (I got 2 on the vertical axis and 1 on the horizontal axis for m final score). It put me firmly in the natural section, kind of heading towards the gamine section, but that's not my best look. Overall I'm very soft, round and squishy looking. I'm 45 with a baby face and I expect I'll still have baby face when I'll be 80, just a little wrinklier. I suit ingenue style clothes and makeup best. So don't get too hung up on a chart. It'll work for most but there'll always be anomalies. I feel it's probably going to be more helpful for people who haven't been able to find a look that suits them yet. If you've already found a look that's great on you, I wouldn't change it unless you particularly want to 💙

what i like about this channel is that it doesn't frame a certain feature as uglier and better than another. e.g. I'm usually insecure of my wide nose, but this channel just frames it as just a feature, and you probably just suit another style of makeup rather than it being an "ugly" feature

I got a -1/-1 and fell into the natural category and honestly, I never thought it would be so accurate! Most days i wear little to no makeup at all. Whenever I tried to do a basic black eyeliner, it would always look wayyyy to harsh on my face. So i started to just use dark brown eyeshadow and i love the way it looks!! Im excited to explore this category and others, and im happy to be a naturals girlieee!! ❤️ tysm

In maths, X axis always comes first. It's not the case in this video. Peachie has the Y axis come first.

Just wanted to comment that as a black woman this worked for me and my features. It also reflects what I already learned from Kibbe, which is that my face is quite symmetrical and lacks a single prominent feature (classic), so I can’t handle much makeup, and even a little color becomes “clownish” very quickly.

I'm a late bloomer when it comes to interest with makeup so this whole makeup aesthetic is very unusual for me. I've been having difficulty figuring out my aesthetic or archetype for ages now and it didn't help with the overall trend with kbeauty (no hate). My style tends to be majority black clothes and “cool girl” vibes so I always went for the modern dramatic and dark makeup look but I always thought I looked kinda odd. After doing this test, I found out that’s because I’m the Ingenue archetype. I ditched the smokey eyes and heavy eyeliner and went for the natural earth tones and pink blush instead. I am much happier with my look now and I found that my new makeup still goes great with my clothing style. Gives me more of a laidback cool vibe

I feel that Dear Peachie videos help people to accept that there are styles that may not suit us, while making us excited about trying the styles that do suit us!
This video was truly enlightening. I got +2/+2, so I am between Natural and Gamine. When the video described the makeup styles that suited each of the 2 types, I found that I already gravitated towards the suggested makeup styles, but it also makes sense now why my features couldn't pull off a fully girly or boyish look.
I fall under Natural (-1,1). This makes so much sense. I found that lifted, snatched makeup (ie fox eye, lifted concealer and higher blush / contour placement) has never suited my face shape. I have rounder features, and I find that the less makeup I wear - the better I look. Especially when I omit eye makeup. The more horizontal my blush and highlight placement is - the better. Really glad to know this, now I can stop blaming my makeup techniques for looking strange. It's just that the trends don't suit my features.

@@tiffanyue you basically take the sum of your results in the visual weight of facial structure (y) and the sum of your results in the shapes of facial features (x) and place those numbers on the graph
For example I got 0/1 in visual weight of facial structures and -1 in shapes of facial features meaning the axis is (-1 ; 1) or (0 ; 1)

i found out i align most with the mori kei style under natural and was surprised that i already do three of the things mentioned (warm-orangey tones for blush and eyeshadow, deeper tones on the outer corner, eyeliner on the outer half of lash line)! i use a rose-ish orangey blush and lip as i think warm tones suits my skintone and gives color to my face + red on my outer corner eyes and a bit of orange. i wouldn't box myself into these notes but it’s highly appreciated and noted in case i want to change my look for some days 😊

I am Indian and I got Elegant makeup archetype. It's very interesting because I recently realised that red lipstick really looks good on me after being made to believe my whole life that red doesn't look good on dark skin😭 and guess what I was right!

Tip: If your preferred archetype for your personality is a little off from where you land based on facial features, watch the videos about face shape, facial proportion, visual weight, and masculine/feminine features, and add the methods for minimizing and counterbalancing the aspects that don’t suit your preferred archetype to the methods for the archetype itself.
I think you can do that with this video too. Since they already give you the quiz at the start that tells you what features give you what scores, you can shift features with contour + highlight or trimming (in the case of brows) and use that to influence your score towards your desired archetype

I got the elegant makeup type (-3 for the x axis and -1 for the y axis), which not only gave me a SUPER confidence boost because apparently my facial structure had almost the same score as Jisoo, but I was also happy because I've always gravitated towards french girl and rich girl makeup styles (actually, the rich girl makeup tutorial is was made me discover dear peachie in the first place). I've tried more innocent (ingenue) makeup styles in the past, and when I was younger I tried going for the more modern looks, but now I understand why they look so weird on me! I still love using the ingenue makeup styles (so ig it's my secondary style), but I've learned that I have to alter some of the features to make it look better on me or else I just look either way too pink or have zero dimension in my face and end up looking a bit flat.

So i got natural/elegant archetype and I was happy to find that I've been contouring and applying blush like a rich girl for a while now. I had a play with the rest of style as recommended, and i actually really love how it turned out. All matte look, with highlighter being the only glow. I really love it. If I wasn't recovering from a cold it would probably look even better than it currently does. Thanks dear peachie! I think i might have found a new go-to look!

I used to always do more of natural looking, fresh makeup like the ingenue which suits me bc I have a baby face but recently I've tried to be more dramatic and grunge and that has worked as well! I do bolder lips and heavier eye look and skip blush all together but I've noticed that 'lines' don't really work for me, for example eyeliner or lipliner so I just blend everything in and I get so many compliments as well
My point is, if you're a newbie these guides will absolutely help you but don't be afraid of trying and mixing stuff either. Also depends on what vibes you want to give off, you need to shape the look you want within what suits you

this really assures me that i’m right in thinking my face suits korean and japanese makeup rather than western makeup. i’m right on the border of natural and ingenue (y is 3 and x is -2), so it makes sense that my makeup looks better when it’s lighter and more feminine and youthful (i like nayeon type makeup!)

This was an amazing video! As a black girlie sometimes the heavy makeup looks don’t look right on me. Like it makes me look old and I just turned 22 😭😭 I discovered from watching this I’m a natural and elegant archetype which makes aloooot of sense now lol. This video definitely makes me appreciate the different types of faces people have and knowing that it probably won’t look best on me and it’s ok we’re all different :)
Makeup tends to make everyone look older. But I find that this problem usually comes from undereye concealer. Erasing the natural contours of the eye increase the length of the mid-face, and this makes you look older. It's better to use less (if not skip it entirely), or draw in the aegyo-sal to fix it

I got a +2 for visual weight and a -2 for softness which is the point between ingenue, elegant and natural. My go to makeup is literally the combination of all these three archetypes. No wonder other types of makeup (especially the mature, womanly ones) looked off on me. It took me Years to realize that I gotta keep it natural and cute. I wish I'd seen this video when I was a teenager.
i also got +2 and -2 and yes to all this! i remember getting frustrated during the beauty trends in 2016 with the dramatic brows/eyeshadows and deep contouring, because it didn't suit me at alllll. i've learned to just accentuate my features with a dewy style and it's already miles more fitting.

Take a video of yourself slowly turning side to side with your hair pulled back and no makeup, and set the camera approximately 10 feet away at chest height. That’s the best approximation of someone else seeing you in passing, and will warp your features less than a close-up image, so it’s easier to be objective about your appearance-sometimes it can be surprising, especially if you’re used to selfies where the lens slightly warps your face.

Oh wow! I scored Elegant for my archetype, and I wasn’t sure it would fit me, until I saw it includes French makeup (my favorite Western style) and the description of how brows and contour are done in “rich girl” makeup exactly matches how I learned to do mine! I’ve been elegant all this time and didn’t know it 😂
I got ingenue, even though I didn’t score in between, I believe there is a bit of natural too.
As a westerner none of the makeup styles trending here ever worked out for me, but as soon as I discovered Japanese than later Korean makeup it was like a new world opened up for me, so it makes sense I got this result.
Same! I have a kinda baby faced features, every time I did a western sharp fierce makeup look , I’d look like chucky’s girlfriend🤣 but korean and Japanese makeup were a life saver to me!

This is making so much sense. I'm 31 years old and have realized that the reason I never look my best in certain dramatic makeup styles isn't just because I didn't apply them well (which is probably true too) or because I have hooded eyes (ditto), but because I'm a Natural who leans Elegant. I've definitely been wearing this makeup styles without realizing it! I won't stop trying to find a dramatic eye look that I like on me, but I am going to explore this softer styles too... and maybe try switching out the soft browns for more fun colors, but keep it light...
Also thank you for calling out hooded eyes and not lumping them in with double eyelids... Since I've realized that many Asian or monolid eyeshadow looks will work better on my hooded eyes than the Western ones for double eyelids, my life has been changed... (I'm white).

Thank you for having so much variety and helpful information. These are the most beginner-friendly make-up videos I have come across on UA-cam. No assumptions of the same things being suitable for everyone, no lists of 20 different products for an everyday make-up look. I turned out to be the neutral natural type and this video was helpful in realising I can ignore 99% of the "beginner advice" videos I've watched because I don't need that drama on my face.

I never felt comfortable with the type of makeup people wear in my country, and I thought that if I chose to start wearing makeup, I'd have to wear it like them. which I knew wouldn't look good on me because I tried before. that's why I never wanted to wear makeup. I’m literally the cusp is ingenue, natural and gamine. That’s literally so difficult for me, since I guess I try to mix all both but that feels so complicated. This has been super interesting! I'm -2 with -2 so I fit the Natural, Elegant , Classic makeup styles which is EXACTLY how I have been doing my makeup most of the time. After playing with makeup for 9 years I have found through experimenting that these styles suit me the best.
Of course the fact that I fit these styles doesn't stop me from being Dramatic and Modern at times, especially for events.

I got classic, I’ve always felt I’ve had too sharp of features for cute makeup and to soft features for extreme looks, I now know I just need to perfectly balance the two

I got in the middle of ingenue and elegant. I love the ingenue look and I realized I've been doing the 'french girl' look without knowing it. This also explain why too much makeup looked weird on me
I got -2 and -3 so I'm in the middle of three styles: elegant, classic and romantic. I'm not good with makeups and I should try all of them before I decide what suits me better. That means trying 8 different types omg
Apparently I was doing the correct makeup look anyway! This made me feel so much better about what style I prefer.
this is so in depth! it's funny that in every style system i've come across i've been a classic. it does go a long way to explaining why i feel so plain - that none of my features stand out. i know a lot of people hate style systems as they tell you how you "have" to dress or look based on your body, but i appreciate that they encourage you to see what is beautiful about your own features. no one is stopping me from doing "french girl makeup" even if i don't have rounded enough features after all!

This has been in my watchlist for the longest time! Glad that I've finally took the test and discovered that my face suits Ingenue, Natural and Classic Archetypes. That was why back in 2016, the kylie jenner makeup looks awful on me huhuhu
I have strong eye/eyebrow feature but a round face and softer feature lower down of my face so i tried ingenue makeup (aegyosal and pinkish eye makeup) and HOLY its makes my face looks so balanced and super CUTE! I’m so happy I find this channel 💗

I got 2,0 which is natural and while i do put on natural makeup sometimes, i get the most compliments and think i look the best with Thai makeup in the dramatic archetype. makeup is just self expression and it can be fluid, so for anyone that wants to try a different style than the chart says I'd say go for it!

I do my makeup for several years already so by trying-failing process I've actually found out natural makeup suits me the best. But it was really nice to confirm and see that the techniques I use are actually recommended, although I perfected them also thanks to your channel. Funny thing though I'd be perfect 0,0 if not for my slightly more prominent nose, which was small and cute 10 years ago but became sharper over the years.

Did this test again and got classic again, closer to dramatic. All i can say is, accurate. Ive just been realizing that straigh eyeliner and an all around eyeliner look made a huge difference
I've been intuitively doing my makeup with what I thought looked best on me and I'm happy to find out im classic archetype and I've doing it correctly! This helped a lot to understand better my facial features

This was sooo helpful! No wonder the fox eye trend never worked on me. I'm more of a natural type and come to find out that I'm already doing lots of the tips mentioned in this video.
Sometimes for more formal occasions, I'll also opt for the elegant archetype too and it works just as well.
All in all, I've embraced my rounded cheeks and make it my best feature. I'm a blush girlie now. ☺️

Learning that my face matches the natural archetype makes sense whenever I wear dark eyeshadow I look old and ugly. I’m so upset my style is so natural though but truthfully it’s the one that suits me the most 😭. I wish I got a cooler style
This makes SO MUCH sense. I fall around 3,-1 so I fit into Natural and Ingenue, which makes sense with the comments I'm used to people making about me. My friend makes a lot of comments about my being "cute" in a way that always felt a little infantalizing bc I thought it was just bc I was a little younger than her, but no, it's just because my face and a lot of my features are very rounded. My family always says I look a lot younger than my younger brother and younger cousin- which I thought was just bc they were taller and bulkier than me. My co-worker also made a comment about liking when girls look very natural, and she said it was like I do. It also makes sense why super bold eyeliner/lashes/eyeshadow never looked all that good on me, even though I liked doing it. It really frustrated me that the makeup looks I saw online didn't look quite right on me so I stopped practicing the way I used to. I'm really excited to start trying more makeup styles now though!

I took this test without knowing I'd always been doing my archetype makeup. Even before I started the test, I was pretty sure it was natural, but I did it with a hint of effort that can be seen. And voila, the elegant archetype. The crazier thing is that I've been unknowingly mixing Rich Lady and French sometimes and going with either one depending upon the occasion. Slayed ig.
