My apologies as I neglected to place the background during the outro. It was a busy weekend.

I saw the “Agatha Christie’s Poirot” adaptation before I read the book and I remember crying when Poirot was confronting Charles, as he trusted him like a friend. I still remember the part where Charles said “What have you done?” and Poirot just screamed *”WHAT HAVE I DONE!? IT IS YOU WHO HAVE DECEIVED ME!”* (very powerful scene)

It's such a good episode of the series. I do prefer Tony Curtis as Sir Charles but both actors were wonderful.

You mentioned 'The Poisoned Chocolates' by Anthony Berkeley. I just saw another UA-cam video that talks about a real-life event, the Knickerbocker Athletic Club Murders, that may have inspired that story, even down to the wrong person being killed.

I saw the 1980's adaptation with Tony Curtis before I read the book. Even though I knew how it was going to turn out, it was still an enjoyable read for me. I hate to sound crass, but one of my favorite parts of the film was Emma Samms as Egg. One of my celebrity crushes when I was young. Shrug.

"The Poisoned Chocolates" case directly mentions the Knickerbocker Murder and other cases that are very similar to the one in the book. In fact, that becomes a plot point.

I really like this novel. I've re-read it recently and had a lot of fun every time Mr Satterthwaite was trying to hint that he had his own detective shenanigans, but Poirot or other people were always waving him away for some reason or the other.

Quin and Satterthwaite were underused a lot. I would have liked to see more of him.

I can still remember where I was when I figured out the Reverend's death was the dress rehearsal. Loved this one.

I was in my high school algebra (?) class when I learned that. I had this book hidden inside my textbook.

Spoiler: Re: The Cocktail. This is explained in the book. Sir Charles keeps a safe glass for himself and gives another one directly to Egg. Neither of them was ever in danger to drink from the poisoned cocktail.

I understand they are not in danger because of Sir Charles's actions initially but there was a chance something went wrong later on in the evening.

Is such a concept to believe that Christie's novels are slowly getting to a 100 years.

Lady Mary presumably reconciled herself to the match soon enough, as she did write a letter of introduction for Poirot to Meredith Blake.
Wasn't it Egg who hated Angela much more than the other way round? Agreed that Angela was the biggest wasted opportunity in the book, especially as she was someone who could pull off the lead in an Antony Astor play.
I liked the nostalgic way the key came when Poirot was building card houses. What luck they'd sold him Happy Families, although Egg's identifying with Mrs Mug isn't quite in the same class as Hastings' remembering the only time he'd seen Poirot's hand shaking.

I mentioned both Lady Mary being mentioned again in Five Little Pigs and the house of cards but cut them because the video was getting too long. It's funny Happy Families gets mentioned because I just watched an Inspector Alleyn adaptation that also featured Happy Families.
