The last year of my husband's life, his comfort place was with David Suchet's Poirot. We would start at S1E1 and go all the way through. Then begin again and they were all new to him. Over and over and over. They eased his mind.
UA-camr Pushing Up Roses has done a bunch of videos on the zanier Murder She Wrote episodes. Good watching if you're even remotely familiar with the series.
happy 40th anniversary murder she wrote love that series one of my favorites seen it many times on amazon prime and peacocktv since i have it love angela lansbury she's my favorite R.I.P 🙏
I love your attitude toward mysteries and I remember watching this show as a child and liking it, so I'll definitely watch the episodes you've mentioned here among the best.
For whatever reason, the show episodes set at schools or colleges seemed some of the best. I kinda wish more of that type had been done because they just seemed to work quite well on all fronts. I like MSW a lot although I do see the ‘ups and downs’ regarding quality through the series. Often a fun watch! The TV movies are all quite good, worth a watch anytime. The pilot is indeed great!
She does visit a lot of schools. I completely forgot to mention the one where she teaches the prison writing class and gets held hostage. That's sort of a school.
The first fill-in in season 3: was that the one that had Shaun Cassidy in it? That one seemed like a transparent ploy to introduce a spin-off series. I think that's the case with most of the fill-ins. And speaking of reusing un-filmed Ellery Queen stories, at least one of those actually was. The time the episode was set in, the relationship between the lead detective and his police inspector father, and even a Simon Brimmer (Ellery's rival on the show) type of character. Another clue to the killer's identity in any particular episode: the more famous the guest performer is, the more likely they will turn out to be the killer. That gives them an opportunity for a dramatic moment. "Yes, I killed him/her/them, and I'm glad you hear! Glad!" As a diabetic myself, I'm not surprised they got details about it wrong in one of the books. I can't remember EVER seeing insulin reactions or hypoglycemia treated like they should be in real life in any media.
Yes, Shaun Cassidy is in that one. Of course, the more famous the celebrity is the increased chance they have of being the killer. I can't believe I forgot to mention that but that's the case pretty much in any media.
I have an easy way to pick a top 10 MSW episodes. Just put the titles from the first 5 seasons into a hat and you'll be good to go. Too many to list here but just a FEW of mine are "Deadly Lady". It's A Dog's Life", "A Lady in the Lake", "Dead Heat", "Sticks and Stones", "Trial by Error", The Perfect Foil", "Unfinished Business", "The Corpse Flew First Class", "No Laughing Murder"..... ok that's 10. LOL. And that's only through Season 3.

That's a nice story. Poirot is very comforting.
@@summationgathering Your story inspired me to share. Knew you would understand.

Another good one is Jane Talks Murder. She reviews episodes of not only this show, but Diagnosis:Murder, Jonathan Creek, and Poirot as well.
I've seen that channel. I also like the blog Murder, She Blogged.
It's a really fun series I started watching with my mum when she was very ill and it's one of my fave mystery shows. Angela Lansbury is excellent 👌❤
Sounds like a great memory to have. Similar to mine.

I've been watching it on Prime lately. This video made me want to rewatch them all again.

I have several of the paperback books. They're decent "palate cleansers," as you suggest, but I'm afraid I could not tell one from another.
Oh yeah. Some of them I couldn't even remember the plot of. I have them all digital though. I use them to break up long stretches in other series.
there are two Murder She Wrote computer games. might be worth a review. I got them off Big Fish. They arent bad.
I played them but I honestly dont remember them. Maybe I can find them again.

The Corpse Flew First Class is often on the top lists. I like it but it wasn't one that immediately stood out to me as a favorite.
