Trout fishing is how I grew up in northern Washington down in to Oregon i absolutely love to hike a stream with a small trout rod .... your videos is my relaxing time...
Love the blue river. Fished a derby there with my father-in-law couple weeks ago. First one ever & it was one of the most memorable moments of my life. Glad to see content around my area. Happy thanksgiving LFG!!

Love the trout videos. Texas Fish & Game should try introducing Red Band Rainbow trout, they are a subspecies native to the High Desert of Eastern Oregon, they can withstand waters that get quite warm and low in Summer, they might just survive Texas.

Trout fishing is my favourite it reminds me of my grandfather who taught me to fish when I was five now I am 16 and a young man and I enjoy the nature especially while trout fishing thanks for making this video!!
I have a camper with a similar bathroom and I made a wooden insert for the floor that just lays in so I can take it out when I shower to keep it dry
Euro nymphing is the way to go!

I made the switch to fly rod fishing for trout about 15 years ago and never looked back. I rarely use a spinning rod anymore. I use weighted line with a 4# mono leader about 5 ft. and fish with my own hand made woolly buggers. It's almost like bass fishing because you strip the line and when you feel the bite you just raise your rod tip and start stripping them in.
So hey I do a lot of trout fishing in the white river around Mountain View and now have a jet boat and my family property is camper ready and a plus caught some nice rainbows
I would know that river crossing any day! Love that little gem of a place, visit there multiple times a year. And the trusty mopp fly! Thanks for sharing

Hey Justin fun video I don't do much trout fishing did a little bit when I lived in Cadillac Michigan. However that being said for about the last 30 years I've been going down to the Maumee river in Ohio, for the walleye spawn. And then quite a bit of river fishing for salmon, and steelhead in the Manistee River Michigan. No exaggeration I've probably had 10 or 12 pair of waders. Anywhere from $50 to $200. I prefer neoprene in fast water because if you fall in the baggy style they can fill up with water and you're done if it's cold cuz everything you're wearing is wet! But I will say I probably only had two or three realistically..? that never leaked until they got dry rotted! From sitting in the garage or basement for a few years! The only thing I can say is shoe Goo is your friend!! 🤔😜😜🍻🍻 My buddy swears by the flex seal clear spray.! haven't tried that yet my current pair of waders were $150 and they seem to do pretty good the last 3 years! Instead of looking like I peed my pants all day! it's more like a spilled a little coffee 🤣🤣🤣 all right this is already a novel book comment so I might as well say one of my buddies put a PVC bulkhead as a🤔🤔 pee hole access in his waders it seemed to work pretty good for him.... But one inch PVC is much cheaper than 3 in!! 🤣🤣😜😜😂😂😂

Only rainbows I've ever caught were steelhead in Lk Michigan, 3-5 lbs of leaping fun!. Ps the fillers smoked great with pecan wood on a gas grill!
One of the first things I learned from watching your channel was to put a tether on my pliers. I seem to remember you losing a pair from a kayak during a friendly competition. Thank you for emphasizing that lesson.

My first trip into that very river in fact, with the exact same waders (brand new), I had the same problem. Comes in through the lower butt area it seems. Returning those suckers.

Waders always leak, unless brand new outta the box! I grew up in the PNW fishing trout salmon , steelies and pan fish too in the lakes and swampy creeks. Lots of big cutthroats in traditional steelhead and salmon rivers only on fly gear. Some over 26" !
Gotta disagree with you on that man! Invest in a good pair of Simms or Patagonia breathables and they can last you a while (a few seasons depending on how much ya fish)! Plus, if you get leaks you can fix em with aqua seal. I’m in the PNW as well, British Columbia Canada
Back in the day that stuff wasn't around
You need to get a net that is, find made of rubber, and you won't have those troubles with the hooks getting caught in the net.
UV Aquaseal is a must have in your fishing kit. It is great for fixing leaky waders and cures instantly in sunlight or with a UV light. I always have some in my gear bag just in case.
Man, the trout they stock down here are max 9". 14" looks fun!

Orvis sells a euro nymphing box set that comes with rod, reel, and line for about 380.00. It catches fish just as well as a 900.00 rod. lol

My Favorite lure of all time is my own creation. I call it the "goo Lure"
My favorite Pond at certain times of the year becomes covered in algae leaving no way to get to the water surface.
Hawg bass lurk in that Pond and the "Goo Lure" will find them.
What is the "goo lure"? It is the algae formed into a ball around a bare hook and retrieved across the top of the algae in a hopping retrieve AKA a frog mimic...
Lures don't come from stores they come from your THINKER!!

Love this video! I feel you on the wader problems. I went through 3 pairs of "cheap" waders before I finally had enough of looking like I wet myself. Got the same Simms G3 as Lance now. Only regret was not doing it sooner.

Catching stocked fish is like taking candy from a baby, but have to say it was so refreshing seeing you without a livescope and all the technology. The real skill test is fishing wild trout, and if regulations permit a chunky night crawler on 6lbs test mono will catch just as many trout as a fly, especially stockers. Glad to hear your dad will be joining in and would love seeing a rustic campfire catch and cook.

@@ifishforfoodnottrophys7483 As long as it's legal I just use whatever works. If the trout don't bite on worms I rig a spinner or fly, but never stick to the same tactics. Justin started out with spinners so it doesn't appear he only uses flies. I just fish for dinner, but some folks catch and release only. I'm too poor and hungry for sport fishing. lol
