Good stuff man! Its gonna look nice in there! Since you got that harness out you should go through and clean up the loom. I've always wanted to replace it with a nice braided loom and to tuck away the sensor wires not in use anymore. I think it would help it to look a lot cleaner than the factory plastic one with all the tape hanging off and what not. Also, some anti seize on the up pipe clamp is not a bad idea!
A easy way to fix the boot slip is to clean everything with brake clean, then use some sandpaper on the inside of the clamp and outside of the boot to make it not smooth anymore.
Watching you with that Miluakee Ratchet in nearly all your episodes has me pretty much sold on one myself. Seems incredibly useful and a major time saver!
I really have to say that I am so thankful for your videos I recently just did the turbo on my 01 F350 and if not for you, I would have been lost. I really do appreciate your videos.
I just did this same project plus up pipes and if Nick made that clamp disconnect look easy, I was gonna unsubscribe lol. Great job on the truck bro! Glad this new year is gonna have more 7.3 vids. Very helpful and fun to watch. Bonus that we get to see you're a family man and the kiddos help. There's a lot of us in the same boat. God bless you.
Hey Nick. Thanks for another great video. Loved the "Reality check" and the pillow bench. I must have an old stinky pillow laying around here somewhere. Anyway, we are on the same page with mods but I'm a bit behind you. Harpoon/Hutch with remote fuel filter mod last week, shocks and exhaust this week. Pulled the bed to make all of it easier. Joe (LOW) has inspired me to rebuild the turbo, but I may wait for winter, a nice warm garage bench project. I hope you keep the 7.3 vids coming, at least until you're "done". Thanks much for your efforts. PS: I've found that removing the degas tank and hood latch make for a comfortable (with furniture pad) place to lay while working the rear of the engine bay.
Haha thanks buddy, my list keeps growing as I do more LOL ... so you think bed is easier than dropping tank? I might actually do both to clean and spray frame hmmm, hutch and harpoon for sure and pick up filters delete
@@FixItNick If it was the Hutch and Harpoon only I'd probably just drop the tank (my pick up filters were disgusting). But the exhaust, shocks, fuel filter, differential service, rust conversion and paint will all be so much easier with the bed off. Plus I'm gonna add a rear winch where the spare used to go. Pulling the bed was simple. I did it alone with a cheapo Harbor Freight chain hoist. One thing I'd say to all... resist going for the impact wrench for the bed bolts ( you need a T50 Plus torx head). Use a breaker bar instead. Way gentler. Let the penetrating oil soak a couple days. I got every one of my bolts out and they look good enough to reuse (I won't). 7.3 forever ! Too bad we Californians have to hide everything from the smog guys.
Great Job Nick, got the leak sorted and using the window of opportunity to get the upgrades done. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Such a handy video for 7.3 owners everywhere.... Nice job with the video too buddy 😉
it took me an hour to get my fuel bowl, downpipe clamp, intake spider, and intake off. and then another hour just for that damn up pipe clamp.... i loved that reality part, because I think it was thoroughbred diesel that made a tutorial on how to remove it and said it was difficult, but i didnt think it was going to be as difficult as it was.... the bottom ear on the clamp was such a pain in the ass.
@@FixItNick getting everything back on too was a nightmare.. I put the new collector on before I put the turbo in and I ended up having to take that out and put the collector on the turbo, and then bolt the up pipes in. I only tried doing the collector bolted on at first because the previous owner welded the down pipe in but I ended up cutting it and putting an exhaust clamp on
Man... I'm having trouble with the "cold side" down pipe V clamp (why I came to UA-cam today for answers). I did spray the heck out of it yesterday so maybe today will be better. So the back one is worse... perfect.
The how to vids vs reality was hilarious! That's the truth right there. For the rear clamp I have found that putting a pry bar on the ears of the clamp and hitting it with a hammer breaks it off much easier.
You had my sympathy AND my laughs as I watched the struggle with that turbo removal! I can't thank you enough, as I'm getting ready to do the ebpv delete, pedestal and up pipes in the next week or so. Only difference is I live in WA, so I'll likely be doing them in the rain with no carport. Your grief probably just saved me a couple hours of crying in the rain, so I'm extremely grateful! Great job on the videos, and thanks for the humor along with all the great ideas!
HELP!!!! Great video...thank you it helped a lot... I took off the I.c.p. to check hpop pressure...3 second crank and it just oozes...but the truck will run🤦...i don't understand...it chugs at idle....new ipr valve....rebuilt ipr....and still...it ran fine with a few hiccups before I rebuilt the ipr....and fuel bowl.... I have no computer only volt meter...12.5v and reversed 12.8v on the ipr.. 8omms ipr.... New icp...great continuity... Not sure of volts...i will check tomorrow but I don't think that matters right now... Any ideas...i have done my research...ive posted on Facebook for help....all I get is get a regular job and pay a mechanic...i own my own company but the truck is broke😭....thank you
I’m not sure but it looks like there is diesel in your coolant which usually means the injector cups are leaking if I’m not mistaken. I could be wrong though. In any case it’s awesome truck and I’m definitely jealous
FixItNick When you were moving your coolant tank I thought it looked a little brown. It could’ve just been the camera or anything I suppose but I’ve seen it a couple times. If your coolant has a waxy feel to it then it probably has diesel in it which would probably be the injector cups. Like I said it could’ve just been the camera or the color of your coolant but I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to check
Whats the torque on the ebp delete bolts? And I just wanna say I have learned how to fix the problems I'm having or had with my 02 7.3 its my first diesel and it was never taken care of before I got it
Was kind of wondering the same. I did the delete previous to seeing this. I put my own 470 ohm resistor in-line to replace the actuator sensor he mentions at mark 8:45 (Riffraff part). Got rid of engine light, but have a choppy de-acceleration after I rev it up. I was wondering if it does need some kind of tuning once the valve is removed. Have you gotten any answers? Thanks
Hey bro did you need a special socket to remove those bolts at 10:00? They look like star pattern heads. Also how many did you need to replace them all (if you did)
My truck stalled out on me and it's really hard to crank, when I do get it cranked over it idles for 2 minute then stalls, if I give it gas it chokes like this. ua-cam.com/video/qYsNOZ742zE/v-deo.html

I think I missed the part about what to do with the electrical zignoid at the bottom front of old pedestal?
When you change your pedestal and got rid of the center and bought that little plug. Does your engine light blink slowly because of the back pressure?
Any big difference with pedestal compared to stock?

Did you have to change the turbo to the delete one? I just bought the ebpv delete pedestal
What's that little guy thing called or a part number for it that keeps the check engine light off?
Torque specs on bolts man. We need this info
You make all your upgrades easy. Do you hire your self out I have a 2003 7.3 2 wheel drive
Thx man and no I only do my own stuff cuz my schedule is crazy with work

I might be wrong but I think you forgot to put the new o rings on the bottom of the pedestal.
I put them in, otherwise it will be all leaks now
What are the bolt socket sizes on the turbo pedestal
Is there a gasket that goes between the turbo and the High Flow Outlet? If so is there a part number?
Whats the torque on the ebp delete bolts? And I just wanna say I have learned how to fix the problems I'm having or had with my 02 7.3 its my first diesel and it was never taken care of before I got it
what is the fuel return kit you have there\
Do you have to pre lube the turbo before reinstalling
Great video, im starting to upgrade both of my 400k mile 7.3, If you install the turbo pedestal will i need a tune?
No don’t need a tune for pedestal
Why the big deal about Riff Raf ? Did they sponsor you or something?
Mods look great and do you have a base line to show the proformence gains my 02 has to be smoged will any of these mods case me a problem
None of these mods will effect smog unless deleting cats
What did you do with the EPS and tube?
Subbed
Ok. You’re in CA, you passed smog with everything you have on legally?
Yes my truck is fully 100% legal
What wastegate are you using?
When I delete the pedestal do I have to program it or the waste gate

Yea I mentioned how many I replaced I think 12? I bought 3 packs, 8mm socket 12 start point I think

FixItNick you’re awesome bro!🤘🏻
What d you do with the plug that go's to the pedastal will it cause a oil light to come on.
You just run a resistor across it and it thinks everything is fine.
Why aren't you throw a new compressor wheel in?????
I don’t wanna lol
I was wondering the same thing. Ya got all the work done.
Saludos desde México bro 😆
Gracias
