I just bought resin to try it for the very first time... looking at your videos is so peaceful!!! Things are done so easily...i hope i can make something too!!!
Hi Sue! They are super pretty! Those kind of dishes or if you do a big bowl...is it possible to use like a salad bowl? I’ll be so grateful if you can tell me please! You do amazing art, I live it all !! 👏👏👏✨😍💫🤩👏👏👏
Sue Findlay Thank you so much Sue! And when I finish the resin proyect, can I use it to put salad inside or only can be use like an ornament? Thanks again, you do amazing things!!! 😍👏👏👏🤩🖼🕊✨
The products are listed in the description, although, I am not sure you can still get them. I uploaded this video four years ago. The resin is cured overnight, however, it takes about a week to fully cure.
Thanks for the video! I am amazed at how easily paper came off. I can't explain it, really. My brain is telling me that it would just be a gloopy mess with paper embedded... but my eyes can't lie.
Ha ha, yes baking paper works well. I thought it would be good, because it holds up to high temperatures in my oven and food doesn't stick to it. You do have to wait until it is cured enough though. 😍
I love your videos. I'm not familiar with resin. I noticed on one side will be really shiny and pretty and the other side of the resin. will have a matte dull look to it. Is there a way to stop the dull and make both sides shiny and pretty?
This is so pretty...... Just wanna know one thing.... There r so many epoxy resin articles in trend now... Like tea coasters, trays, bowls etc... But how safe is it to use epoxy based stuff at home
I can't comment on all brands of resin, because not all are created equally. I recommend that all of my pieces are to be used as decoration only and not to be used for food. These pieces look good on their own and so don't need to have a specific purpose, other than to be used as a decorative piece.
hello, really spectacular your work, congratulations, I wanted to ask you how long you let the resin dry before giving it the shape in the bowl? and if when manipulating it with the hands the fingerprints are not marked. Thanks and I will continue watching your videos since they are really wonderful
All depends on the time of year. Which can anything for 2-8 hours. If you wait until it is no longer sticky, then you can move it. To avoid fingerprints, wear gloves. 💕
Hey sue I clicked on the link you provided for the crystals and they come I a bag of different sizes, what size do you best prefer? And out of curiosity which do you prefer better, mica or inks? And which company is your favorite (to color your resin). Just thought I'd pick your brain. I've just gotten some resin but no inks or mica yet so I thought I'd see what you like best.
The acrylic diamonds I actually use are in multiple sizes. I don't have a particular preference over mica powders or inks. Each one has its own advantages, it depends on what you want to achieve. I use inks for a translucent look and pigments for an opaque finish. It all comes down to personal preference 😉
@@SueFindlay I know the ones you use are in 4 different sizes, I was just curious if you tend to use one size more than others or rather if one of the 4 sizes works best.
@@SueFindlay omg I'm such a tard, it never crossed my mind that you used all of them at once. I figured that while you got a variety pack, you used different sizes for different pieces. Sorry. Lol. Thanks for replying.
I create these for decoration only and don't recommend that they are used for food. I also recommend that they are not placed in the dishwasher and are washed by hand with warm soapy water.
No, I didn’t use a quick drying resin. We have had very warm weather so my resin cures more quickly at this time of year. In winter it takes much longer.
@@SueFindlay What do you work in? Im sure we could convert it, and would be great to know the sort of amounts of resin needed for this project - love it, by the way!
What was the name of the product that used to blend the colors in. Something called mineral Tek time???? I'm sorry I couldn't make out the nane of product.
These are trinket dishes and are not intended to be used for food. They could be used as decorative pieces for your home, a place to keep your keys, jewellery or spare change. There are many other uses for them. 😍
I have worked with resins for over 20 yrs. I fixed problems on airplanes.. fiberglass Kevlar graphite. PLEASE put some gloves on. Never put food in them or eat out of whatever your making. You can sand them. Put 201 to finish and shine
I do wear gloves and a respirator when working with resin. The only time I don’t wear gloves is when it is cured enough for me to handle. I also never make pieces that can be used with food. They are only ever for decorative purposes 💕 thank you for your concern.

Yes, you can. 😁
What is mineral turpentine? I’m in Canada. Is it just plain turpentine. You are a great inspiration to me. Thanks for your videos
Regular turpentine will do the trick 😉

I think you mentioned mineral spirits, but it’s not listed in the supplies. Could you clarify what you added before you swirled the colors?
I used mineral turpentine; you can also use white spirits 💕
This is very very nice. Have a nice day. GLG 🌞😃

Can you use glass dishes for your mold?
I have used glass vases to mould resin. I used plastic on the glass to stop it from sticking to it.

instead of Mineral turpentine can u use coconut oil? Or Mineral spirits?
Coconut oil would leave a residue on the surface and may cause divots. Mineral spirits would be a better choice.
@@SueFindlay Thank you!
Just wanted to know if the plastic rhinestones do not melt with the resin?
No it doesn't melt. I am only pouring a thin layer, so the resin doesn't overheat.

Turpentine doesn’t interfere with the curing process as it evaporates and leaves no residue on the resin.
Awesome

Yes, I used turps 😀

How long do you wait before shaping the resin?
I wait until it is no longer sticky. This can depend on the time of year and the temperature of the room. So can't be specific, sorry! 💕
great 👍

About how much resin does it take to make a dish this size?

Acrylic Diamonds?
Acrylic table scatters or table confetti are other names for acrylic diamonds.
Sue Findlay thanks

Doesn’t it get finger marks
No, it was cured enough to not have fingerprints on it.
Parchment Paper or Wax Paper?
Amy Halle In my experience, Always use Parchment, never Wax.

Why won’t mine hold its shape? After a period of time no matter how long I let it cure, it starts to move...
At what point did you shape the resin? If you leave it too long before moving it, it is harder to shape.
