I'll just have to live with my 991 GT3RS as I'll never get to drive an RS 4.0 As for which is the better car I'll just have to take your word for it. I almost daily my RS ie hills driving 2-3 times weeks plus track it at least monthly. I find it difficult to comprehend how anything could be better. Once again the stress of first world problems and decisions ! How privileged we really really are. Let us try not to forget how truly fortunate we are.
Ziggy Freud 👍🏻
@Mr.BigBoss7 Congrats on the new car. The 997.2 RS's are beautiful timeless machines. Drive it as often as you can and savour it.
I think this channel deserves alot more recognition and alot more exposure
Thanks. Hopefully in time...
The 2016 Boxster Spyder was overshadowed by the GT4 so people didn't realize how good it was. I traded my Boxster Spyder towards a GT3 Touring and hate to say it but the the Boxster Spyder transmission felt better. So much so that I got annoyed enough to upgraded the GT3 Touring to a 991.2 GT3RS to get the full on PDK experience. IMO the 991.2 GT3RS is Porsche's best car thus far. NA revving to 9K is so intoxicating. Mine is GT silver too. You are 100% correct on how mean the GT3RS looks. I had the GT3 touring and GT3RS side by side and laughed about how soft and dainty the GT3 looked next the the GT3RS. The next must have Porsche will be the soon to be released NA flat 6 718 Boxster Spyder. All the performance of a mid-engine drop top GT car at half the price of a bloated Speedster and something that you can actually drive instead of just keeping in a museum. Thank you for the great videos.
This channel is probably my favourite. Amazing reviews 😎
Thanks Nick
Great vid Mark. You always explain how a car feels so well. You also explain the pros and cons brilliantly, especially when it's a head to head as is this latest video!
Thanks Russell
English countryside and a couple of Porsche’s. Perfect!
Thank you!
I'll never for the life of me understand why someone would loop generic stock music over the sound of these cars.
Both are amazing machines... the 4.0 is something extra special! I was fortunate to drive it a few times before. That said the "regular" 997 GT3 is still a joy to drive! :)
the 4.0? both are 4.0
One of them will survive a 24 hour race, and the other likely would not.
Looooove these two! Can’t wait to drive the RS 4.0 🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️
Great to see these compared back to back!
991 GT3 RS is such a great looking car...
Great content man love your videos keep doing this videos
I love my 997.2
Me too!! 2010 C2S Cab 6 speed. Simply one of the best!
Very nice production!
Hello sir, plz can I know the name of the colour which on the mirror caps, rims..... on the 4.0 litre Porsche 997.2 gt3rs🙏
Keep going Mark...! Great content ... great comparison. Makes people think going back is the way forward, maybe
888MF great 👍🏼 work.
Thanks
4.0 is a special machine👌🏻
Two stunning cars!
Can't go wrong with a GT3 RS of any era
Good comparison, why don't you have 100k subs already?
Very nice review again. Great channel and it is growing. Unusual, but relevant comparison. If I was going to own one I would take the 997 variation, due to rarity alone. It is just a bonus that it is such a great driver’s car.
Thank you Neil
First my friend of a supercar
I'm just silly enough to daily a GT3, of any vintage. Unrelated, it looks like you've been driving the Boxster a lot. Quite the tan you have!
Nothing wrong with using a GT3 as a daily, as long as it has a PDK gearbox. Oh and the weather has been pretty good in the UK recently so taking advantage of having a convertible.
Nice comparison mark , you can see the quality in ya presentation, your car all day long !, did you get the chance to buy it from new ? Do you also have the black one still , awsome collections of cars 👍👍
Thanks. I bought the white one in 2013 from Germany and the black one in 2013 from France.
Both stunning , you quality of vlogs are so far above all the rest it shines through, well done 👍
997 is sick !! nice spec
Thanks
Just love the quality and style of your videos . Please make more car videos 👍🚘
I wouldn't say no to either, they're both excellent machines. But one I could use day to day, anywhere, would sway me to the GT3 RS.
One day I will have a GT3 RS.
Consider a 997 GT3 RS
Find a high mileage 997 GT3 RS. Save up and do 3.9 or 4.0 upgrade. It will serve you for life.
@@porschecollector727 Great point. These cars will never die. They will just age and get better :)
Cool content! Keep up!
Thanks
997 GT3 RS 4.0 is a very special car thats the one for me 😍🏁
Very nice video!
Thanks
Nice comparo. Didn’t you use to have two RS 4.0s? A white, and a black one??
991.1 RS with 918 seats probably will give you an extra sense of occasion than the sofa seats in this car you tested & i wish you did a drag race, maybe next time ;)
997.2 GT3 RS 4.0 is the best Porsche of all time. A unicorn I will someday own.
Good video Mark 👍
Thanks James
Timely review. In my market 991.1 gt3 rs is not too much more money than a 997.2 gt3. I absolutely love the rs look, but then I feel a true sports car needs manual transmission to complete the experience. I worry if I get the rs over time I’ll get bored with it because it’s not a manual. Advice?
Buy yourself a Cayman GT4
Manual is certainly great, no doubt about it, more involving etc. but believe me the PDK is a *superb* gearbox especially in the GT3 RS. It is so quick and seamless! Leave it in auto mode for convenience/daily driving; switch to manual (paddles) and it's like a race car. Never gets in the way, you're in total control. If you can test drive one, by all means do it, because there is nothing like first hand experience ;-)
In the end I guess it is a matter of personal preference.
I just read that you used to have a 964 speedster! I love those things! You should have kept it!
I had it for 4 years. It was rare but it wasn't very exciting to drive. The Boxster Spyder is much more fun.
Why do you like the Boxster over the Cayman GT4?
Simply because you can put the roof down when it is dry
I saw you at the Petrolicious Meeting at Bicester taking photos with the F40 :p
F40 is the dream
888MF F40 or CGT?
I'll go for the 991 every day of the week. Maybe time to cash in on the 997
Gracefully Graceful I just bought a Boxster Spyder so no more cars for me this year
@@888mf4 The 992 gt3 could re-write the records book, so a 18 month break could be wise
Give me an Acura NSX and either one of these at my top two cars. CTSV and the Portofino as my other two cars...i can only dream.
I have had two Honda NSX cars. A 2003 Long Beach Blue NA2 coupe and a 2005 Black NA2 coupe. Wonderful build quality, wonderful gearbox, lovely VTEC engine and great visibility. Unfortunately underpowered. The NSX facelift from 2002 - 2005 needed more power and less weight. The NSX-R had both, however only one officially came to the UK as Honda didn't see enough demand for it. That says it all.
both are fantastic, in my opinion. they are such humble car more like wolf in sheep clothing i would say. if agreed, let me know . alot of people prefer the gt3 units over the Lamborghini's, example the huracan.
I am sooo confused. 991 tips the scale heavier than 997, has reportedly same hp, costs less than and circulated same track 7 seconds quicker. Is the objective to go slower on the track for exclusivity?
Feels like a Track Car !! Da I wonder why ?
What if my budget is £5 grand? Great vid.
Golf GTi
Find a 944
Buy a model of each like me
Forgive the ignorance, but you keep saying the 4 liter and the GT3 RS. Aren't they both GT3 RS and both 4 liters?
They are, correct. The 997 was named the 'GT3 RS 4.0' whereas the 991 was called 'GT3 RS' and has a 4.0 liter engine, so that's why he says the 4.0 liter car vs the gt3 RS.
Brilliant review
Thanks Paul
Those aren't deep dish wheels there concaved wheels
Easy pick for me, 997rs 4.0. Nothing to debate there.
The 4.0 is the high-water mark of Mezger engined 911's.
I think you made a mistake saying that the 991 GT3 RS revs to 8800rpm which is 400 shy of what your 991 does, its the other way around.
I think the only car that can top this is the Sharkwerks 4.1.
the 911 got too big after the 997.
yet the 991 is a mere 1.2 inches longer and nearly an inch lower in roof height, weighs less but ya it got so much bigger....
You say ,Very usable power, funny that you’re driving a GT3 😂
if my budget is 200k I would still buy 911.2 gt3rs than a performante
You start this video on the wrong foot , is this a 991.1 or 991.2 gt3 RS the difference in performance is huge
The title of the video gives it away
Or take a 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8 ;-)
Also a great car, but the extra 50bhp in the 4.0 engine is very compelling
888MF but do you feel this? And is the prize difference worth?
@@peterh225 Afaik you feel it especially in the lower rev range, but it's about 150k at the moment and there are no better cars out there for that price imo. EVO rated it the best car ever tested in 2013.
Nice filming, but the review was too scattered and lacked emotional appeal.
rofl
One car is worth 200K over its MSRP and one car has fallen below its MSRP in a little over 2 years.
It's insane how cheap cars are in the uk
I take the 997 cause of the manual
Good video. But...can't help but think you are a little biased. I think I would take the 991 3RS. The only thing the 997 has over it is exclusiveness and that is an ego thing!
You are completely wrong. The 997 GT3 RS 4.0 has hydraulic steering, which is widely recognised as being more direct. This is something Porsche have been working on, and have improved over the last 5 years. However when driving both back to back it is very noticeable.
@@888mf4 So, let me ask you this...take the money factor away. They are both worth the same. Which one would you pick and why?
@@555dho555 The 997 GT3 RS 4.0 has far superior steering feel and I love the manual gearbox. So money no object I would still choose the 997 model. The 991 GT3 RS has PDK so it is a much easier car to use and therefore can be driven more often. So I would have a 991 GT3 RS as a daily and a GT3 RS 4.0 as a weekend car.
@@888mf4 thanks for the insights, really interesting to get an informed opinion! Looking forward to the next video.
I drive a Evo with 480bhp and a twinplate clutch man up ffs.
The updated GT3 RS is over 500 hp not 493
and? That is not this car.
My budget is £75
GT4 or Boxster Spyder
You need to compare with a gt3 991.2. Better and faster than both!
Is it just me or does this dude look exactly like lewis Hamilton ??
Video and audio are so bad quality.
Favorite brand yet doesn’t know how to pronounce it..wow..
Do you know how pitiful that comment is?
Tooo much contrast on the video mates.
What a bragger....
