Text from video: Jameela came from the Fort Worth Zoo hoping to find a foster mom. Her birth mom, Sekani, delivered her via a c-section then didn’t accept her afterwards. We believe she has found her foster mom with Freddy!
Freddy is 49 years old. Jameela is a little over 4 months old now.

Freddy has had 7 babies of her own. Today, four are still living but are at different zoos. (Locations will be published in a future video)
Kayembe is famous in Cleveland. He was the 1st baby gorilla born here!
He is healthy and doing well. His life started hard though: born 6 weeks premature, birth mom didn’t show proper maternal care, he got pneumonia, raised by a foster mom - Freddy.

Kayembe was the first zoo born gorilla at the Cleveland Zoo.
Kunda is the second baby born in Cleveland in less then 2 years.
Jameela is the first baby gorilla born via c-section at the Fort Worth Zoo.
Birthdates: Mokolo 7/10/87, Fredrika 6/5/74, Nneka 9/23/98, Kebi 1/13/91/ Tusa 12/2/89, and Kayembe 10/26/21, Kunda 7/19/23, and Jameela 1/5/24.
The Conservation status of the Western Lowland gorilla is “Critically Endangered”.

I thought some,the zookeeper supplement milk for Baby Jamila..I do know elephants will let orphan calves comfort suckle oftentimes, so possibly Gorilla's and the like do as well...
Jameel’s seems more inquisitive and wants to eat like Freddie

Clear to see Jameela is getting the best of care from Freddy and zoo, she looks so alert and healthy. Kayembe is a caring cheeky chappie. Jameela is lucky to have such a family to take care of her at this vulnerable time in her life.

The zookeepers asked Freddie, and Freddie said, "Sure, I'll take care of the precious little ones." Counting Kayembe and Jameela now Freddie has raised 9 babies in total! 💝 Freddie deserves everything, fit for a 👑 queen. 4:08 And just look at Jameela thriving, and learning under Freddie's care. How beautiful the two are together 💗💗💗.

Aww our sweet little girl Jameela! She looks so happy and healthy. Her coat looks amazing too. Freddy is such a calm and loving Mom to both Kayembe and Jameela. Not an easy task at her age of 49 almost 50 years old. She is my hero!!! God bless this wonderful gorilla troop and their caretakers at the Zoo. Another great video. I had no doubt that Freddie would be an excellent mom to Jameela. However I worried adorable Kayembe would be pushed aside because of the baby when he still needed a mother’s attention. But leave it to Freddie. She is a super mom who can give an infant and a toddler all the love and attention they need and deserve. It is beautiful watching her with her TWO children.

She is such a sturdy,chunky little thing! So beautiful bright little eyes shining as she surveys her world from the safety of her adopted mamas arms. I'd think at this point they would begin referring to Freddie as her ( adopted mom ) as it's very obvious the love between the two. Poor little guy Kayembe is so jealous!! He wasn't ready to give up being the baby!

Amazing❣️ It’s as if Jameela had been born into the Mokolo troupe. 😍 She’s such a strong, alert little being and doesn’t seem at all fazed by Kayembe’s energetic attention - just holds on tighter to Mama Freddie and carries on looking around wide-eyed at her world❣️ She’s breast-feeding like a pro now and even showing interest in solid food. Freddie is so gentle with Jameela. You can tell Freddie is a very experienced, nurturing gorilla mother. And still young and beautiful at 49 years. Its situations like Jameela/Freddie/surrogacy why these amazing primates should always be protected and studied. And look at little Jameela's head bobbing as she takes in all of her suurroundings. 😊

I am so happy for Jameela and I salute Freddie. She is one of the most amazing female gorillas. No one left behind, she steps in right on time. I was so touched how she embraced Keyemba and now Jameela like they were her own. True motherly instinct for real she is the true glue and leader of her troop. Amazing ❤

I thought at Freddie’s age she would probably prefer to rest and not adopt any more babies, especially since Kayembe still needs his mommy. But I was wrong, I think she loves having a new sweet baby. And Jameela sure loves her new mom. She loves looking around while on her mom’s back🌝🌼💛
