Have you ever wondered what it's like to cross an entire ocean on a cruise ship? Well, I recently spent 26 days on a luxurious ship for just over $1,000! I traveled 9,000 miles from Seattle to Sydney on Princess Cruises' Royal Princess, a beautifully designed mid-size vessel that is capable of accommodating over 5,000 guests and crew. Join me for this special overview of my incredible journey across the Pacific! I'll discuss how I nailed such a terrific bargain for this unique voyage, and I'll give you my top tips for finding your own deals on a future oceanic adventure.

You did an excellent job on making this video. You gave more information on the topic than 10 or more combined similar videos. Thank you ❤
Great to hear, and thanks very much!
I circumnavigated the world twice at no cost.
Hooray for the Navy :):)
So did I but there was a cost 😂😂😂
We were on that cruise too! I remember you though I don’t think we met. We agree that Rob the naturalist was a highlight. We got on in Seattle (rather than Vancouver) and off in Auckland and saved over $1,000. The airfare to return from NZ rather than Sydney also saved us about $1,000. Overall, a great trip that we would happily do again.
Awesome, and thanks for posting this comment! I'm glad you had a wonderful trip as well. Warmest wishes to you all, and here's to more memorable adventures!
Appreciated this great update...so helpful and what a wonderful adventure !
Absolutely brilliant, Nate!!! What a fabulous experience you had and so well documented. Fantastic info on all counts. I am taking my first cruise on New Year's Eve to Cozumel and Belize. After seeing how I like it, hopefully I'll use your info to book more!
What a way to ring in the new year! I hope you'll have an incredible voyage, Glenda. 😀Thanks so much for your encouraging remarks and compliments! Have a joyous holiday season, and I'll look forward to following your upcoming adventures.
Hi Nate,
We were on the same Royal Princess cruise as you (though Vancouver to Auckland). Great to see your video and perspective of the trip.
We booked this cruise in advance and had a much smaller balcony cabin than you...We had the drink/gratuities/internet packages and paid over $15.000 for the cruise...Wow!
Thanks for sharing your booking/savings tips. We are well cruised people, but maybe next time, we should be more cruise booking savvy like you 🤪
Happy safe travels, JJ
wow, the disparity in prices!
$1k for a balcony cabin for 26 days, total score. The chances are the line needed a room for crew or entertainer, so move a paying guest to make room. Bora Bora is stunning. We love the Royal class, even when full they never seem crowded.
We sailed the Royal Princess in November 2021, one of the first post-lockdown Caribbean sailings. Such a great ship, five days with stops in Dominican Republic and Princess Cays wasn't long enough. But I don't know if we're up for 26 days across the Pacific!
Wow thanks for taking me back to that beautiful trip . You have done a great job.
Thanks so much, Bins!! I hope we'll meet again soon, my friend. Wishing you wonderful voyages ahead!
Now I have to include cruises in my bucket list. thanks Nate.. youre a good presenter
Thanks very much!
Awesome, as usual. Well done Nate!
Tremendous thanks, Rob!! It was certainly a pleasure to spend time chatting with you on the ship. 😊 Wishing you happy and smooth sailings ahead!
Great video! ❤
Thank you!!
Hi Nate, thanks for this comprehensive look at the highlights of your extended cruise. It is amazing to me that something so big and heavy can cruise on the Ocean for Thousands of miles. The inside of the ship reminds me so much of a fancy hotel or Casino. One thing you didn't mention is elevators on the ship to take to between all of the different levels. There must be quite a few Elevator banks to accommodate all of those people. Glad that you caught the water swaying in that pool on the rough sees as that shows the power of motion and water. Was the Gelato bar included in the price of the cruise? Gelato is usually more expensive than regular Ice-cream so that would be a nice perk. It is nice that you were able to stop along the way at different cities to get out and explore. The stops are worth a lot to as you are able to experience the different ports without having to pay extra to visit at another time. The arrival in Sydney was really special with all the beautiful lights, especially to lights surrounding the Opera House. Have a great Christmas season and wish you a Happy and Healthy 2024.
You might also speak to the cost you may incur with travel to the embarcation and from the debarcation spots since for most folks that can be a substantial amount.
Thanks for the tip. I hope I get to catch that cruise in the future since I’m from the Pacific NW.
I hope so, too! Thanks for the support @honusblanco. 😁
Yet another great video, Nate! I recently took my first cruise (to Antarctica) and m considering another cruise experience. It was only a 12 day cruise but I’m curious if solo travel ever gets lonely for you? TIA!
This ship is identical to the Regal Princess!
very cool! I have never sailed on princess before. but I have done a lot of royal caribbean and celebrity and I sailed the caribbean and hawaii If you ever get a chance to go on a nother cruise go on celebrity in the retreat every stateroom is a suite and you get on board credits and get to dine in a suite guest restruant every day on the cruise it can be expensive but its worth it
Thank you😊❤❤❤
Very nice Nate , I was on that cruise
Great video Nate, really loved it and very informative. I’m looking at booking my first cruise for next year. After 12 years being in the Navy, I was like I have no desire to be at sea again, but now I do lol. Btw did you leave the Philippines? Thank you!
Nate how do you get travel documents in time for sailing?
Hello Nate! WOW! Love this video, especially since you left from here in Seattle! We have been talking about doing a cruise from here in Seattle and now I can't wait to go! The Princess looks so beautiful! What an amazing Voyage! We are flying out to the Philippines soon for Christmas to check on our Hotel project and visit family! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

we are the workers in the building near the airport, we are happy to meet you, sir, you are very humble and very kind, thank you for your hospitality, sir, to us workers❤
Thanks so much, and it was wonderful to meet you all!! I hope you'll enjoy my newest video about Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Warmest wishes to you all from Manila! 😊
The Emerald city. . If I knew you were coming to Seattle i would've taken you to the first Starbucks coffee shop. By the way, thank you for sharing your experience. I enjoyed watching the whole video.
it's here! envy all the trekking you got to do.
i wish cruise ships stopped in the Philippines and booked passengers (or do they and I'm just ignorant?)
What a great video. I've been on the Royal to Alaska. It's a nice ship. Also did the World Cruise with Princess on Island Princess, total circumnavigation. Was so great! QUESTION: I solo travel a lot - how did you get around the single supplement?
Very nice and beautiful Places
Awesome video !
Thanks so much! 😊😊
Amazing!
Thanks!
last minute deal, what about air fare? last minute air fare will not be cheap.
Gratuities are optional. It's very easy to adjust the amount at guest services to be from the $16 per person per day to no gratuities at all.
Why would you do that. Do you not feel you receive exceptional service?
You don’t need to take drugs (with all their side effects) because you MIGHT get sick. Get a Relief Band. It’s the only FDA approved device for motion sickness that you can use even AFTER symptoms start. It’s an electronic device that looks like a wristwatch (not those silly elastic bands with balls in them) Works fantastic.
Love being able to do my own laundry
I live nearly 2 hours south of Sydney and I can get to Circular Quay quite easily to go on my cruises out of Sydney
How awesome! What town in the south do you live in?
Nate one thing you didn’t talk about is how did you get back to USA? How much was the airfare back home?
I know I'm responding to a 5 month old video, but I am shocked at the $1200 bill. I am doing the exact same trip by myself and the bill is over $10K with drink package. Was worried last minute would mean the ship was full and I need to be on the ship as I move to the PH, so I booked almost 9 months ahead.
which camera are you using? I was looking to go shoot in the Philippines
Thanks Nate for this great and helpful infos. I can’t believe how cheap you paid for this 26 days cruise 💙 I’ve been on 2 cruises each for only 1 week. I’ve never really liked it because it gets too busy. Also you could spend a lot of money when you get to ports of call and the choices of tours are overwhelming and expensive. I really like this 26 days cruise. When was the exact days for this Royal Princess Cruise?
Imo…the most beautiful island I’ve been in the world is Bora Bora in French Polynesia.
Thanks very much! Yeah, it was a superb deal. 👌 I sailed from Sept. 26 to Oct. 23.
And what were your costs getting to and from the embarkation and debarkation ports on such ahort notice?
Set the notification. Be back in an hour!
Awesome! Please also share with friends and family. 😊
When you booked your cruise, did it inform you how and where to do your online immigration forms for NZ and OZ, and pay the mandatory entry fees you mentioned? Or did you already know you had to do that?
There were documents guiding passengers where to go for the immigration applications/forms. It can be easily overlooked, though, so I recommend always doing your own legwork to make sure there are no issues when entering countries by air or sea.
Cabin Closeout Store couldn't find any cruises here.
Were they able to help you find another cruise?
Is this 26 days repositioning cruise as crowded as a typical, non-repositioning cruise? Or is it less crowded since many people do not have such a long vacation?
It was not at full capacity (probably 60-75% capacity throughout the voyage).
Hey Nate Are you Still Live in the Philippines?
I do! I'm in Manila at the moment. 😀
Does it require formal dressing?
There are formal evenings, but formal entire is not mandatory. That said, on formal nights, I'd definitely avoid going to the theater or main dining rooms dressed in a t-shirt and shorts.
Did your flight home cost more than the cruise? 🤪
a discount for AARP membership??
I'm not sure if they have an AARP discount, but I didn't avail one.
🌺🌸👍🙏💗
$1000 with gratuities?
Isn't it lonely traveling by yourself?
I fortunately made some great connections on the ship! 😊
Man. I really wanted to watch this. But your narration sounds like you corporate sales person selling something.
Thanks for the honest feedback.
Is it possible to take a cruise from the US to the Philippines, stay in the Philippines for a couple of weeks and take another cruise back to the US?
