    I slipped up when talking about wind direction and getting the most favorable winds; what I meant was flying west to east. Sorry about that.

    I had never thought of it before but I am now thanks to you! My wife is not happy with you btw, lol.

    Currently doing a round the world but I thought to make it even harder and try to visit/land at every UN recognised country and states 15000 miles down so far

    Thank you for this video. I’d like to use the Kodiak for most of it.

    Funny story about that Google Map with all the POIs marked, I started a WT in San Diego, CA and just plotted a general route through Mexico to the Caribbean as it's the most recent WU. Flying over Mexico I started to miss the photogrammetry and POIs to look at, and I stumbled on that map after doing some research, and then restarted from San Diego. First try I made great time, flying ~200NM legs that took about 2hrs in the Skyhawk I chose. Second try it took me over 9 hours just to make it from San Diego to LA because I keep wanting to stop and fly around everything 😅

    It's those vfr back country airports that make the around the world fun

    My suggestion would be ..Don't rush it.. do some sightseeing along the way and don't be afraid to go low and slow.. I started in Southern England and am slowly working my way through the UK, Faroe Islands, and now Norway.. if I don't make it all the way around then at least I have learned a lot more about the countries that I am in. I am mixing planes a little. I started with the Comanche and am now flying the Kodiak a bit. I think I will go back to a plane with persistent settings though.

    Going to have to save this for when I get on my next flying kick. I've wanted to do an around the world flight, but I'm probably going to upgrade my PC and do a complete Windows and MSFS install, first.

    Thanks for this, very useful. |t can help if there's a competitive element, I took part in 'Around the world in 80 days' organised by Aerosoft, otherwise it can be hard to keep going.

    This is cool, thank you for the tips.
    I'm doing a South America trip with the black square analog bonanza, very intuitive plane... I started at my home city airfield (SSBL) and went south coasting Argentina, then visited the Falkland Island, came back to Ushuaia, and now I'm going north above Chile...
    Always trying to do 1 to 2 hours legs...
    I'm still wondering if when I arrive at Colombia near to Panama, wheter to keep coasting Central and North America or come back home from there :D
    Great video, thanks again.

      Thanks for the kind words, it's appreciated :) I'd keep going north, and try to stay on the west coast until you get to Alaska where you can cross over to Asia.

      @@FlightSimSchool Actually, I was thinking exactly this. It'd be cool (and time consuming lol) to coast every continent.
      Somethimes I even think about starting over and streaming every leg on youtube from times to times...
      Have a nice week !

    I tend to lean on the DC-3, DC-6, or PC-12 for my long haul trips. I've got a DC-3 trip planned hitting a bunch of cold war era USAF strips across Alaska. Not ambitious as a world tour but, baby steps haha

    • @FlightSimSchool
      @FlightSimSchool  Місяць тому

      Yup that’s how I like to think of it too :)

  • @Xlaminator

    @6:27 in general it´s the opposite, you should go West to East to get favourable winds, atleast in the temperate zones outside the tradewinds and polar zones.

    • @FlightSimSchool
      @FlightSimSchool  Місяць тому +1

      Yes, like I mentioned in another comment, it was a slip up.

    • @Xlaminator
      @Xlaminator Місяць тому

      @@FlightSimSchool yep, I thought it was a slip of the tounge, just wantet to point it out for inexperienced flyers to be aware of.
      Thx for the nice content you provide, well worth a sub! Pls keep up the great job!

    Generally its more tailwind when you fly from west to east.

    • @FlightSimSchool
      @FlightSimSchool  Місяць тому +1

      Yes, that's what I meant, lol. I said east to west because in my mind for some reason North America is east of Europe. Oh dear...

    I have done ~Transequatorial Circumnavigation of Earth (40,251 km) in 5 hours and 8 minutes over 7 legs using Darkstar.

    13,000nm into northern hemisphere run in the A2A C250 at x10 wear and x10 failures. Recommend Active Sky. The historical weather is invaluable. Fly at the actual time and date and also plan ahead for suitable weather. Also, the weather depiction in remote regions is more dynamic.

    • @FlightSimSchool
      @FlightSimSchool  Місяць тому

      I'm curious about the 10x wear & failures. How often are you dealing with failures that lead to an emergency?

    I'm yet to complete a lap around this tiny sphere. Every time I atempt it I get frustrated because there are some parts of the world that looks just awefull, cpecially in Asia and Africa. I think it will be A LOT more fun with MSFS2024 bacause of the AI autogen stuff that (in theory) is going to make everything looks nice all around.

      It should work by default, you'll need to recreate your bindings though.
