The song that all Cubs fans held deep in their hearts through all the years of losing. The constant "next years", the mounting record since 1908, and all of the loved ones who never got to see this day. That's why Eddie cried, Bill Murray cried, all of the fans cried that night.
I am a flight attendant and in 1986 when he became Jose became a scout, I had him on my flight. I was so excited as a life long Cub fan but told him that it is a "pleasure to meet you Mr. Ivan De jesuse. He looked and me and with out skipping a beat and said same country... wrong team. I was so embarrassed. He asked me who my favorite cubbie was and I told him of course for sure you now because I messed it up in the heat of the moment. He asked me who my real favorite was and I said Ryne Sandberg. He asked me for my address and I gave it to him. Within a week I had 2 balls signed by him and Sandberg. What a class act. Last night after having them for thirty years, I held them and rubbed them for good luck. What a night it was.
Oh my gosh, when Eddie Vedder started naming the Cubs players that he loved when he was a kid, Jose Cardenal in right, and Billy Williams in left, Don Kessinger at short, Ron Santo at third, Randy Hundley at catcher.....that brought back memories. That's the time I started loving the Cubs.
I am the son of a die-hard Cubs fan and way back in the day growing up on the far north side in the 1950's, the family joke was my first words were "maybe next year". Well 'maybe next year' happened Wednesday 2016!!!!!!!!!!! Now 'maybe next year' has a new meaning!!? Love the tune.
i'm not a cubs fan or a baseboll fan in general, but this song have a special place in my heart , the soccer team i follow here in brasil was fifteen years without gaining a title of expression, but in 2016 we won the national cup and the following year we won the Libertadores cup. "Yeah, someday we'll go all the way"
Yes I am aware of their win but I was commenting on "Executioner" He said it was only in the US and I was saying that there is a team named the Toronto Blue Jays
So great to hear we had the same favorite player growing up in Jose Cardinal! From nibbling at the Ivy during delays to grabbing a bucket of KFC from the outfield doors, during another delay, to the dugout. Jose and Eddie both rock!
I spent $600 on tickets and was looking so forward to it, and when I got there I found out they were fake, got taken for $600 and missed what had to be an amazing show. So pissed off and wish I could track down the douchebag who sold me the tickets. Sure hope they come back, because my girlfriend is a huge fan and have been wanting to take her for a long time. Finally had that chance, and we were hyped about it, only to get screwed. So disappointing, really don't know exactly what I will do if I track that worthless sack of crap down, but it certainly won't be pleasant for him.
Meanwhile, what the fuck is wrong with you? 600 dollars? Sry to hear that, Aaron... jeez, ticketmasters, broseph... /sigh You should probably recant by donating an additional $600 to charity... Man.... thats some SHIT.
I grew up in the same era and my favorite players were Jose Cardenal and Rick Reuschel. They were appearing at the neighborhood car dealership, Fencl tufo Chevrolet, and I wanted badly to go see them. My parents were late arriving home from work and it was a driving rainstorm, rather than miss the opportunity I took my bicycle without permission. I recall Rick Reuschel asking what happened to me because I was soaking wet. I still have the Polaroid picture. Can't believe the Cubs finally did it.!
This gives me chills.. I'm british.. my team is Man City and this resonates with me so much.. when will we win the champions league?? who knows.. but some day we'll go all the way!!
guns trash, where this unique training? Only axl, duff and slash ... you do not know anything about music, shut up .. PEARL JAM >> ABISM >>>> GUNS N' TRASH.
+Pedro Junior Learn English or just speak to me in your native tongue, brother. Either way I can't understand you, but at least with the latter, someone will.
Oh, yeah ... THEY DID ... for you and me, for Ernie Banks, Billy Williams and Ron Santo and so many heroes over the years who almost made it. Vicariously, we have now ALL made it. I thought most of my loyalties had gravitated toward the 3-Cup Blackhawks. However (though I still love them and resent Gary Bettman's salary cap era which has trimmed a would-be 5 Cups into 3) when the Cubbies recorded the last out in Game 7. My entire family group hugged as we sunk to the floor in a pool of happy tears which washed away the disappointments of 1969, 1984, 1989, 1998, 2003 and 2007!!!!!!!!!!!
Good for him , I was born in Chicago, and somehow got into Wrigley Field the day before the 1985 season opener with my family alone. Still think Nirvana was way more talented then PJ. But thanks Eddie.
I'm not a Cubs fans but this song is so beautiful. How can you not be romantic about baseball. The 2015-2016 Cubs were a fun team to watch.
I grew up loving pearl jam not knowing Eddie was a huge fan. This song means so much to me.
6 years later..... CHILLS.
I'm not crying- you're crying!
I listen to this the beginning of every season!

Peter Lenau even a few years later I still cry.
Which record please?
Such an amazing song. I lksten to it at the beginning of every season.
I been a Cubs fan since I was a kid and I am a pearl Jam fan and a rock n roll fan for years with respect
❤️ Pearl Jam and our Cubbies! How lucky we are that Eddie is a Cubs fan!
One of the few who sounds better live than recorded

Beautiful ❤
We did it, Eddie. Maybe never again, but we did it. And you were right: I fell to my knees and cried.
It took Eddie longer to start the song than it did for the Cubs to win a World Series
good one!
Don't forget Rick Monday too!
me too
As a lifelong Cleveland fan, i have to say Wrigley Field is awsome park
When they performed this none of us knew that 2016 would be the year that the Cubs would win the World Series.
U fucking kidding me.....our whole life, been waiting. Eddie you are as legendary as the boys. ! Thank you! So fking great!
I don't know how many times I've watched this. Every time UA-cam suggests it, I will watch it.
Makes me smile and makes me cry ! Wish Ernie and Ron and Leo Durocher were here.
Just a few months later, the Cubs went all the way.
i'm not a cubs fan or a baseboll fan in general, but this song have a special place in my heart

THE CUBS WENT ALL THE WAY.. WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS 2016
omfg yes they did win
What about the "Toronto" Blue Jays?
Sherri McNamara It is a name that dates back 100 years or so. Not a big deal, unless one gets upset over stupid stuff.
+Galaxy Master thwy won last year and this was the first cubs world sieres in 108 yrs
Yes I am aware of their win but I was commenting on "Executioner" He said it was only in the US and I was saying that there is a team named the Toronto Blue Jays
My new favorite UA-cam video. Awesome performance. I met Jose back in the mid-70's and took a photo with him and Milt Pappas.
This performance was less than 3 months before the Cubs won
I’m from Chicago and I was an Eddie vedder fan way before this....great tribute!
I live in Chicago also & 1st heard this song on XRT before 2016; totally made me cry. Now it seems to hit even harder lol 🔹💙🔹

Thank you Eddie form a long time Cubs fan in Long Beach CA
So great to hear we had the same favorite player growing up in Jose Cardinal! From nibbling at the Ivy during delays to grabbing a bucket of KFC from the outfield doors, during another delay, to the dugout. Jose and Eddie both rock!

Just trying to figure out where can I get that exact style jersey.

Is this song on iTunes? How can I get it on an iphone
Kody Klein search All the Way Live
The only regret was that he didn't name Steve Goodman as his favorite Cub.
love Eddie Vedder, but he was totally wearing a Chicago White Sox hat in his MTV Unplugged perfomance.... lol
