I bought this laptop (HP Envy 16-h1023dx) last June 22, 2023. Mine died after just 5 months! The RTX 4060 GPU died. It is currently at an HP service center where it has been for 5 weeks. Now they are saying at least 2 more weeks! They say they are waiting for a new motherboard.
I like this laptop in almost everything, but I don't know which one to choose, this one or the Asus Rog strix g16, what do you recommend? I study architecture and rendering
I agree with the review...except I disagree about the battery life. I've had mine since May 2023 and I love it, but it can't compare to Apple silicon for battery life. Still...with active cooling and a dedicated gpu...it's got good battery life.
Hi, nice review!... I bought this laptop last week. Is it possible that there is a small indentation/curve on the metal part, just below the small HP logo on the screen? Do I make myself clear? I'm referring to the metal part where the keyboard ends and the screen hinge begins. Thank you!
Thanks for such a good review. I’m a content creator and this was very helpful. My only two concerns are 1) will this get much hotter and louder than a gaming laptop like the legion or tuf? I want a relatively quieter less hot laptop. And was hoping since these CPU’s on the envy are H series, that they will run less hot and loud fan than the 14th gen HX intels. 2) is the glossy display more stressful on sensitive eyes than an ips? Lastly, what would you reccomend more for video editing, and least hot and loud fan noise. Between these two laptops? This ho envy with 19 13900 and rtx 4060, or a legion i7 14650 and rtx 4060? Thanks again for your reviews 🙏
@@BinoshaTech I saw how much you reccomended it for a creator laptop. I wanted to make sure im making the right decision in choosing this over a gaming legion (i dont do gaming). i need it for basic video editing with 1080p footage. do you think this will work great for that (with the i9 13900H) procceser. im not a full time video editor, so just doing a few hours a day here and there. I was under the impression that in general this will run cooler and quieter than a lenovo legion or Tuf, but i see you are saying those other laptops have better cooling systems than the Envy. From the uses i described to you, do you think the envy will be sufficient and run relatively cool and quiet during normal use? I like the envy for its very good camera which i will use for zoom lessons with students, and for the fact how much you said its good for creators.
I watch this laptop review on the same exact laptop in the video lol. I will say, ive had it for 2-3 months and I love it. Although I use it for gaming so probably not the greatest choice as there was probably better options but it was on sale for 1,079 in Best Buy and I do use it to edit videos but only sometimes. For me, gaming was pretty good since all I play is Roblox and yes I know that is a kids game but im not spending money on games since I can't. I used the gaming drivers instead of the studio drivers so I think that helps with the performance in games. My last laptop was a 2 in 1 Hp envy so I think people can understand where im coming from. Overall, I do love my laptop but maybe there were better options I could have chosen like an Asus gaming laptop
@@davidplaysalot8726I guess my comment did not go through 😭. Ok so I haven't tested any AAA games on it because I have none. To install gaming drivers, First, go to the GeForce Experience app. Then click the thing that says drivers. And then you can scroll down and download it from there or you can scroll back up and press on the 3 vertical dot icon and click on recommend gaming drivers.
Ive been using mine to game too. I aint no computer wiz but mine runs off of NVIDIA Drivers. You'll get best setting when plugged in but it does heat up the GPU. I'd recommend a cooling pad.@@davidplaysalot8726
Shame the RTX 4060 variant isn't available in the UK. I did ask HP and they told my "it doesn't exist", even though I sent them a link to it on Amazon! Now looking at Lenovo's instead....
I am thinking of buying this computer, but with 64 ram, rtx 4060 and inter 19-13 gen. I need it for architecture and rendering. But I want you to confirm if I am not going to have problems when modeling in 3D and making renders to later use for post-production with Adobe programs.
Why would you have problems? I've owned this since May 2023, upgraded the RAM to 64GB... I LOVE this device. Battery life could be better, but other than that...as long as you're not planning to play heavy duty 3D games (laptop doesn't have great airflow...thin...) it runs everything well.
Why do they making white keyboards it verry difficult to find keys unless you are hard-core type writer who doesn't see keyboard and types....do they have Black version of it ?
I have this exact same laptop and I get more than 380 fps consistently on valorant and 165+ on apex, both at maximum settings ( with the lighting settings turned down on apex). What resolution are u running these games on? Did u plug in the laptop?
Brother i want to buy a new laptop for engineering studies. I am going to use solidworks, autocad, ansys , programming and other CAE softwares. Is this laptop good for me. I also have other laptops in my list like msi cyborg 15 A13V and lenovo loq . Some people say this hp laptop heat too much and it can fry cpu and gpu. Is that true. I choosed this instead of others because it has good build quality and slim design. Please reply to this. Thank you@BinoshaTech
@@mjusama369 yes design wise its a nice laptop but if you will not game too much on this then its probably fine for all the programs you mentioned but dont expect too much battery life when you are running several programs at the same time. If you need more battery life then i would suggest you pick up with smaller screen and or bigger battery with the newer form factor cpus such as intel ultra 7 155h or amd ryzen 9 ai 370hx. the amd one is actually even faster than the cpu in this one while being much more efficient on the battery.

nice
It is i7 or i9. Does it work now
That port that you pull to open is not a micro SD. It's a type A connector
You can put gaming ready driver for Nvidia, not studio drivers instead

Get the Asus Rog strix g16, you will get a much higher wattage unit with much better performance.
very nice review with realtime performance tests. Thanks bro.

This or the Asus Tuf F15 (2023). Both with 32gb of RAM and i9.
TUF has a better cooling system but this one is lighter and has a better build quality

i bought this laptop and the keyboard gets hot when under load.
It's quite common in laptops with aluminum chassis
