The lack of decor is genuinely shocking... like was this thrown together in 5 minutes in a last minute attempt to boost retention mid season or what? The absolute bare minimum should be a temporary map overhaul themed around whatever holiday it is + earnable rewards/transmogs coming from event-specific activities. If they really wanted to get spicy with it, I think temporary items would also be awesome. Something like "Lucky Hit: Chance to spawn angry jack-o-lantern that explodes for 15,000 damage after 2 seconds" that only lasts for 1-2 weeks would be so cool.
I was going to write something along these lines too. The events in other games (and I'm a huge D4 fan) are actually events around the holiday it corresponds with. Especially MMOs which D4 is trying to be. The D4 events have never excited me unfortunately
I had played 1 hour, I was 5 seconds away from killing the boss, kicked out of the game, reentering I got no option to enter the same situation thusly I immediately uninstalled.
Yeah :E I was playing yesterday and wondering where the mounts are. Today I discovered you need to open the Shop and claim it from there. I hope I didn't miss anything yesterday.
@@bobbobb5759when you spend money on a game that touts it's self as a live service it's nice to actually be rewarded on the holidays for sticking around as a player. WOW, same company. Different studio has massive holiday events. Why can't Diablo?
@@bobbobb5759 No, but it's a nice change up when you're bored of doing the same shit week after week when they actually put a tad of effort in an event. The mid season event in S5 March of the goblins was far better than this trash. But please white knight for Blizzard 😂
I love how anyone would think _Blizzard_ who made like half a billion plus lacks the funds for special events, yet games like Guild Wars 2 invent _entirely new game modes_ for events.
@@gss76Absolutely garbage. The goblin drops are worse than normal goblin drops! How is that possible? Give us some ancestrals at least. Doing that at least might give you something to use. As it is you glance at the items you got and immediately trash them. There’s already way too much of doing that in the game as is.
especially when those things don't do anything for us. Neither does exp buff because its only for monster kill exp which we all know is like 30% of our exp grind to 300
@@interstellardave I got 1 single GA item from running a couple hours of T4 NMD between all the rewards. The few mats I got were less than I would get in a single Kurast run.
@@meteda1070It’s tragically bad. Like parents telling their child how great Christmas will be but, as it arrives, there’s no decorations, no Christmas cookies, and when their child opens their present it’s a pair of socks. 😂
It's not an event. It is a tactic to get people to open up the store and see all the glowing skins they can purchase for 50 dollars. They make it so you have to scroll past a bunch of garbage to even get to it. I love D4, but this is just lame. Execs need to wake up and let them make a good game. THAT will retain players and get people to buy skins.
Diablo 3 gave us the chance to descend through the D1 Cathedral, a cool retro visual filter, gave us multiple pets to unlock, a transmog, banner sigil and portrait frames. They also had the gift boxes which just showered you in loot and had a rare chance at the most sought after cosmetic in the game. Diablo 4 gives me Red Butcher as a random spawn, as long as I engage with the worst activity. Oh and a little XP boost just in case I wanted to play something 50x weaker than Spiritborn.
you can't compare a subscription game with a "paid once" game though. An event like Rax suggests costs money to make and they want D4 to be a viable product with as little money injected into it as possible.
@@armorvil while not everyone pays, they have a battlepass. They made 150m off skin sales alone. They can afford to have a small 5 man dev team take a year and create some holiday events that they can recycle and update once a year. Stop making excuses.
It can be compared, you could class D4 as sub based, but optionally so, they charge for seasons, they have a cash shop and they charge for expansions, plenty of ways money flows into D4, they likly made millions off cash shop alone.
@@armorvilnope not buying that take. Not only does this game cost money for entry but they have an in game store with 15-25 dollar skins and a seasonal 10 dollar entry free for the premium. I would argue that Diablo is making a lot MORE money than our 10 bucks to WoW a month in 2005 ever did.
I cant believe "DIABLO" (literally means the devil) made the worst Halloween event in all gaming history. Wtf. The only good thing was the horse cosmetic but all I had to do was log in and go to the shop. Which Is just a way for them to trick people to look at all the sick gear they lock behind a huge paywall.
If you logged in yesterday and had to ask yourself "has the event started yet" right there should tell you there' a problem. It should be very evident.
For those who played (and still play) Guild Wars 1 & 2... THAT is a Halloween event. Other games with great Halloween events, Neverwinter, World of Tanks, etc.
Oh, and to explain to people who ask how an advertised bonus can result in negative reputation, here's an example. Imagine your job tells you a Christmas bonus is coming, and the amount depends on how well you and your coworkers do over the next fiscal quarter. Overtime is uncapped, and you start logging all these extra hours. You get to the pay-off, and it's a goddamn pizza party. When asked what the extra work compensated for, they explain something trivial like "Oh well we were able to also afford soda and garlic bread!" If the job hasn't bothered at all with extra compensation, you'd likely register a 5 out of 10 on the Hedonic treadmill. The promise of reward makes you excited so it goes up to a 6 or 7 out of 10. But then the payoff is so bad it actually drops you down to a 3 or 4. This is because you view it as time lost. You invested extra effort into the thing for a payout that never came, and now you have remorse over what could have been. Even if you, as a person, can't verbalize the rationale, we are all keenly aware of the opportunity cost of doing things.
Ask me next time, I got a thousand ideas for events. In this season, they could have changed the Realm Walker to a Goblinwalker, spawning Goblins here and there. And after defeating him, you get into a Goblin realm where you got 30 Seconds to kill as much enemies in the Rift, and the higher you get the Stronger the End boss or end chest. Also if it had to be Halloween, why not a eternal Night event, where everything is dark and foggy. Every enemy could have a small chance for a treat that can be exchanged for cosmetics. And so on...
Yeah, this one has me annoyed too. What else is Blizzard working on that is draining their creativity for events like this? Its just a pathetic effort, no other way to cut it.
This event could have been saved even if they just added a random drop ( pumpkin) that brought use to special nightmare dungeons where it WAS Halloween themed with a TON of non conduit shrines. Then inside the treasure bags they hid cool cosmetics, boss mats, master working mats, runes. It would have been LIT.
WoW has the Headless Horseman who spawns and has to be killed by a group and drops some very cool stuff. And there are goodies like flying brooms and such that makes it feel like Halloween.
Yup so there’s another thing that could be themed to the event. World Bosses! We’re so used to the same 3 bosses change them into something event themed. Halloween could have Headless Horseman, Cthulhu, a scary clown. All new mechanics. Give an feat of strength or title for killing each one during the event.
oh they are. that's why they are making money. good for us ? no ! but a business is a business the real problem are the people paying more than 40 bucks voluntarily for this garbage (the "not really an addon" i mean)
Another point - putting "pumpkin heads on elites" doesn't have to be complicated, it can look janky as hell, that would make it more fun/funnier. Don't spend days perfectly sculpting pumpkin heads into every elites shoulders.
Raxx not holding punches is why I'm subbed. Dude loves it when things are good, and still tries to make good ideas when things are bad. A truly passionate gamer o7
They should have made it where you need to farm mats that open a Halloween themed dungeon and the boss at the end has a chance to drops pieces of a themed set of gear. Instead we got... basically nothing.
The problem with the event is that there is no event. They've SAID there is an event, but there really isn't. A treasure goblin or the Butcher potentially spawning while activating shrines in a dead activity is not, in actuality, an event, and there's nothing in the game right now that would make you think "oh, it's clearly Halloween."
Holidays should give a holiday related item. A glowing Jack-o'-lantern offhand, Witches hat helm, Dracula cape, Mummy wrapping armor like the Act 2 guys from D2. For Christmas they could give a pet that is a Gold Goblin dressed like one of Santa's Elves or a steed that's a reindeer. Easter could have an item that summons a pack of murderous killer rabbits like the one on Monty Pythons Holy Grail. As far as the, "But that all costs money." argument goes I can only say it takes money to make money.
Raxx, the central purpose behind the events is to draw you to the store. Why do you think you have to go to the store to redeem the free cosmetics? In fact, all of the best looking cosmetics are behind a paywall.
Yeah, I wanted to get to 60/300 until I saw that travesty of a mount reward for hitting 300. So lame. Meanwhile the shop wants $28US for the cool Day and Night cat.
Hi Rax, thank you for this video. I am a big fan of your videos and this one made me want to comment something. Blizzard should really hire you. The combination of your understanding of the game, what it is and what it lacks, with your understanding of the community, casuals and grinders alike, is omnipotent and unparalleled. Your delivery and passion in these videos are a perfect wrapping to that combo. If Blizzard really cared to improve this game and cared about the Diablo community, they would hire you.
This. Season 4 was just some elixirs and reputation. Season 5 was a PERMANENT GAME MODE THAT THEY IMMEDIATELY HAD ACCESS TO IN THE ETERNAL REALM and reputation. Season 6 is a mid ass event to get some elixirs again, and the reputation isn't even worth the grind because you don't get a spark anymore. But sparks are half useless now because they destroyed mythic crafting by putting rng back into it. Where are all the cool seasonal powers like in season 2!?
I'm hoping this is a side effect from having to overhaul the entire game. Now that the game is in a better state, I'm hoping more dev resources can be spent on seasons and events. The quality of seasons and events currently feels like a game on life support, not a multi-billion dollar game that is thriving.
@@cryotimberThis is exactly what I’ve been saying. Just because they released a half assed game, doesn’t mean they should get away with “seasons” as fixing the game. Should be working double to fix the game as well as seasonal powers
@@cryotimber Nah you can still craft Mythics directly. They're just kinda hidden now in the Runes tab at the Jeweler. They cost 2 sparks, and 6 each of 3 different runes.
I feel your passion for the game. It just sucks people\companies don't know how to take "negative" feedback nowadays. In my opinion the negative feedback is greater than the positives. Nothing ever changes when you're only going off the positives.
This is literally the SAME "event" re-skinned (i.e Goblin bags and using shrines) over and over and over again. It's the absolute bare minimum effort they can put in. Even the free cosmetics are absolutely hideous (I get it Halloween) but all the paid cosmetics look as cool and as shiny as possible.
They could do hundreds of different things for the Halloween event: -"Infernal pumpkins" instead of Goblins (with Halloween-themed loot) -Butcher randonmly spawn in Open World (Imagine that in Hell Tides!) -Lilith as World Boss (Could be fun with hitboxes!) -Halloween themed quest, with some lore and cosmetics (and NOT with Drops, zero effort) -If you click a shrine a random skill is temporarily replaced with a skill from another class (trick or treat) -The main cities should have been decorated with Pumpkins, Skeletons, Candles... Instead we got: -Latency -Lag -Rubberbanding -DLSS disabled (without any communication) -Client crashes -A stupid Goblin with useless loot or a stupid Butcher with useless loot They are the first to be bored with their own game.
It would be good if tormented bosses dropped ancestral legendaries. Grinding bossess is so boring now. They die in .5 of a sec and drop crap 99.99999% of the time. Season 5 loot was much more fun imho.
Couldn’t agree more with what Raxx said in this video. I rather they don’t have this type of event at all because it disappoints us even more. Plus the exp gain and gold gain? Doesn’t benefit me in any way because im already paragon 300 and gold capped. The only fun thing to do is to run dark citidel and help and explain the mechanics to the newer players and earn the cosmetics.
And one of the single worst ARPGs period. Last Epoch, Titan Quest 2, Grim Dawn 2, POE 2, Torchlight Infinite, and even random indies are doing everything better than DIABLO 4. Blizzard is just pathetic.
And rax overestimates how important a Halloween event is to the "reputation" of D4. Blasters are hungry for new content, I get it. But 95% of player base still has tons of content to get thru and a short XP event is a good cherry on top
Disagree...looks to me like the vast majority of players. Have blasted through much of the content already. Casuals , in thier own way. I do value your perspective tho. It's good to be able to examine all sides of the coin.
so he gets ruined by blizzard culture? Nah, better just stop playing trash games and move on, POE2 is soon out, i give it 6 months until raxx ditches diablo 4 in a corner LMAO
I remember years ago playing Team Fortress 2 or Killing Floor 2. In TF2 there was a new map for Halloween, there were witches flying overhead, there was a boss on the map, there were pumpkins and new hats. In KF2 they added completely new enemy models plus cosmetics. It felt like, well, Halloween.
its absolutely CRAZY how we know for a fact the idea that you came up with WHILE RECORDING YOUR VIDEO is far far more then anything they put into this "event". it doesnt make us think, it lets us know that they put the very very least amount, the bare minimum into a game that not only we love, but they are SUPPOSED to love and have a passion for making it better.
It's as easy as making it so enemies drop a new "candy" currency and adding a new holiday vendor that will sell goodie bags that contain gear similar to treasure bags in exchange for candy. The vendor could also sell Halloween exclusive gear to transmog in exchange for candy.
You could also give it a reputation track that has good resources in it and maybe even a resplendent spark at the end. They don't have to be as stingy with sparks anymore now that it's harder to craft the mythic you want.
100% agree we need more. The holiday events should transmog to towns in the theme. There should be an event vendor that gives us "bounty rep" to earn rewards ie transmogs and loot bags. Give us a special item we have to wear or use in order to drop an event currency. That event currency is then used to buy said loot bags or craft event sigils. Those event sigils then take us to a modified NMD that showers us in the event currency and loot. IE...Holloween, we got to the even vendor and get a class specific mask/transmog. Wearing that transmogs gives us a bonus that allows the event currency to drop anywhere in the world. This way it's a simple as "dress up, show up, get rewards"...but for those who want to grind hard can go the more involved route and farm up the event sigils and really get the rewards.
I only would like to add devs had(or is it still a thing) a problem adding a stashtab, I really think this game coding is unable to transmog the world for events ;p
Look at what Blizzard did for holidays in World of Warcraft. Those had huge participation and were loved by the players. This just isn't the same Blizzard as back then. They now want to do the least amount of work and get paid more money.
Or Overwatch 1! New maps (thematically decorated), new skins, usually a dedicated special event. Event challenges and awards (sprays, icons, etc). Extra loot boxes. And people turned out in droves.
Raxx, this is why you are the best. Always trying to keep it positive and push things in the right direction even when everything is dogshit. It is really sad to see Blizzard fail the same lessons they learned in the past again and again. I'm really hoping there's someone on the team listening to you. Keep up the good work, you speak for all of us.
Literally all I did for this event was log in, get my stuff from the shop and log out. Gotta love the level of cope I have that the game will get better eventually haha😅
Thank you for your video! Just my thoughts on your suggestions: I used to play a lot of Destiny 2 (for 8 years). Their events sound similar to what you are suggesting and I would love to have something similar in Diablo 4. Mansplaining for those that have not played Destiny 2: Destiny 2's events take place every quarter (Valentines, Guardian Games (like Olympics, each class against each other), Halloween, Christmas) and you are rewarded with an armour set per class (3 classes in Destiny 2) as well as the odd weapon and sparrow (mount in Diablo 4). These events included playing a specific game mode(s) which occasionally included an arena that was not always available, so it made it fun to jump in every now and then. The fact that the tower (singular) (the equivalent of towns in Diablo 4) was made up for the event with decorations helped pull me into the event (discovering all the little hidden decorations or easter eggs was really fun). It may not be practical in the number of towns we have in Diablo 4, but maybe a few pumpkins/ghosts/skeletons/candles here and there may liven it up a bit. Thank you for your content! I love watching your videos!
My theory is that the Diablo team is taking a break after launching the expansion, and they organized this event just to keep up with the festivities. At least, that’s what I’d like to believe.
Bro THANK YOU for speaking on the fans of this games' behalf. It's so simple yet so appreciated. Your succinct and well-thought out suggestions are amazing.
The event feels like an afterthought. Having worked making live op events before, you typically plan many months to a year out for major holidays to ensure the quality is good and you have enough time to obtain it. Completely agree about the hit to reputation when under-delivering.
All great points. They have a template in WoW for All Hallows Eve.... 1. At MINIMUM, have a transmog drop from a world boss of a pumpkin head. 2. Make a questline that unlocks a "witches brew" pot or something that maybe turns your character orange and you leave behind a trail of candy when you walk. 3. Make a really hard unlock of maybe killing the "headless horseman" that temporarily replaces lilith, and you win his mount and/or his transmog 4. Make the ability to get a witches broom for a mount etc. etc.
Coming from ESO after 8 years and doing all their events, It was refreshing to see diablo IV on game pass ultimate so I went right into it, so I was in the middle of doing their Halloween event, it was mostly repetitive for me after 8 years, but they have the theme, you get plunder skulls rewards and 2 event tickets a day, to use to buy style pages for cosmetics related to Halloween and special recipes for food that give you potent buffs, furnishings for the insane price homes you never go into much. But the theme is there. They have stretched out their map for so long now adding a new update every few months but still half the open world is left incomplete still it looks like they go another 5, 6, 7 years of 39. to 79. Premium upgrades, that doesn't include the subscription fee to be eso membership cost of 14.99 a month. Which you really need to have to be able to play game. I just went through the main campaign and they bought the expansion Finished both in a week. It a good change from eso It reminds me a little bit like reaper of souls but its good game Raz has the right ideas. About the events, I seen the price it costs in platinum to buy cosmetics and it reminded me of the eso crown store. Lots of money spent. I am just trying to figure out system of crafting the runes the gems I remember from D3 it's not cheap to craft alot of top quality gems I just know they played a major role in me getting through the torment mode in diablo III.
@@TrueBlue2024a Again, events CAN be repetitive, yet rewarding. Even in WoW, some of the holiday events are the same from the previous year, but people look FORWARD to it. People want that week or two to grind out an area at a chance for the broom mount, or the pumpkin head transmog, or potions that do neat things like turn you into a skeleton or whatever. When there is litterally NOTHING given to the gen pop in the game and the thing that does drop (treasure bags) are just dropping non-ancestral items, it's bad
I fully agree with Raxx that from a long-term perspective, Blizzard needs to rework these events. This Halloween feels extremely cheap. In addition to the above, we need immediate fix to the event to make it more attractive: 1. Enable the shrine effect in all game modes where shrines are present - making it exclusive to NMDs is just bad 2. Spawn goblins or Butcher immediately, do not make us wait 3. Allow treasure bags stacking 4. Make The Butcher drop halloween-themed armor for us to salvage and use as desired
Blizzard kept blaming Activision for them not being able to put out the content that they/Blizzard wanted to do, and yet after they remove Activision from the picture they still just seem to make shit like this halloween "event"
Man, most games would kill for someone as devoted and able to give such concise feedback as Raxx. It's going to be embarrassing if they can't improve events after this.
This is not the franchise I fell in love with. No hate here and I hope everyone enjoys themselves, but I can't go on with you. I feel like I need a shower every time I interact with Blizzard, and it ruins the game for me. I'm out.
Going off the event mythic uniques idea, could make them all transform into a specific normal unique but keep the halloween look. That way they can still be used and not just a cool trophy, giving more incentive to hunt for them.
great ideas , i always agree with you. The only thing about the super op leggendary set that gives you insane power is that after 7 days that you come back becoming a piece of garbage i imagine people won't be very happy about that , and will rightly find other reason to complain because they want to be god all the time , and not for just 7 days
Halloween goblings should only drop Unique items with a guaranteed GA, and a high probability (35%) of two GAs, and the Halloween butcher should drop Uniques with guaranteed 2 GAs, and a high chance (25%ish) of Uniques with 3 GAs. THEN everyone would be going crazy on the Nightmare Dungeons, farming and upgrading their uniques to uniques with more GAs. And the nightmare dungeons should provide 50% more obducite, to easily masterwork your new items.
It's so obvious when a dev team is so worn down they've forgotten how to have fun. Happy devs make fun games. All the pressure from the player base and the business to constantly fix the game and all the vitriol and hot takes have taken their toll. The team is just trying not to get yelled at at this point and it shows. Gotta figure out how to bring some happiness back to the team or this is never gonna change.
Absolutely this. There's nothing "Halloween" about the 4 items you get or even the scuffed pillars in NDs. Decorate the towns with pumpkins, bats, spider webs, etc. Give us all those cosmetic things you talked about. Trick or Treat is a huge part of Halloween, so give us candy with weird random effects or powers. They make millions and millions of dollars so they've got the money to fund really cool events for players. This Halloween event feels like an after thought written on a Post It note that fell under a desk and they just went with it. Hire me and I'll help design or lead the entire effort! hehehehe I love decorating and making things festive and I've got 6,000 ideas for Blizzard.
I legit was surprised there was even a fake event with the expansion release a few weeks back. But I'm done this season anyways w nothing to do (grind to 300 does not count f that)
As far as I remember, they used to do really good Halloween events in World of Warcraft, where you had to fight a headless horseman boss for nice loot, includingly a mount and there was decorations in all towns and cities + festive quest line.
Swap rogue with druid and you finally have a viable and fun to play class. Just put on a suit and play as another class but deep down know you are a druid.
Just look at Fortnite - F2P where they change almost entire map for the halloween, you have decor, you have free skins you can get for quests, you have new weapons based on the theme of halloween, even the looby background is based on it. For D4 you spend 70$ and there's not a one fucking pumpkin in town. BTW the cosmetics that you get for free are absolutely trash, same as rewards from the expansion - the same recolored puma. shame.
I don't know about halloween but even Fallout 4's biggest town is decorated with snow and lights and christmass trees and such for the christmass time.. if Bethesda can do that I'm sure blizzard could have put some effort in to this ffs..
You forecasted what could’ve been one of the most impactful and memorable events in Diablo history in less than 20 minutes as a singular person. As an adult in their mid 30s now, I played Diablo 2 religiously from 2000-2010ish. It was the only game I played. I spent a decade on my life on that game. I love Diablo and always will. Seeing Diablo 4 just continuously get knocked down and struggle to get up hurts to see. And as someone who has only played POE for 20m on console, and was brought to POE due to it being compared to Diablo, I believe Diablo might be a lost cause once POE2 comes out. I guess we will see
They like to make us use the emote wheel all the time for everything, why not add an event in a Halloween decorated k-mart and play a ''mad witch says'' game. If you do the wrong emote, you die and have to run back from Cerrigar, no mounts allowed.
They should do, what they've done in WoW for over a decade: Headless Horseman boss event, temporary cosmetic buffs (a wand that turns you into a skeleton/cat/zombie), permanent cosmetics (pumpkin helm, some sort of skeletal armour), halloween related pets, every town should be halloween themed with pumpkins/ghosts/banners etc. That would be an event! What they have now doesn't even classify as an event.
And if we are talking about rewards, the whispers rewards regardless of being legendary or not ALWAYS needs to drop at least one Ancestral piece of gear in T4. So sick of getting fodder for my time.
The way borderlands 3 handled holiday events was pretty cool. Exclusive weapons, gear and cosmetics during their events. Special areas, bosses, quests. That would be something that could work for diablo iv holiday events.
Guild Wars 2 has excellent seasonal events. entirely new places to go, themed everything, rewards, etc. its a legendary level of dedication to the seasonal theme.
I would hazard to guess that the “permanent rewards” suck simply because they would rather sell you stuff in the shop as opposed to just giving it away in a “free” event. I think back to the Halloween and Oktoberfest events in WoW and how I was SO thrilled log in and participate every year for another chance at a rare mount. Those were so much fun.
100% agree! The so-called Halloween event is a nothing burger. No world changes to reflect the holiday, no haunted houses, no groups of trick or treaters in the streets. Great job, Blizz.
Imagine if they had a halloween world boss that drops halloween themed skins. Or goblins dropping bags of candy(=ancestral items and unique tributes) or pvp events where the player with most seeds or whatever they are called is transformed into the headless horseman and if you kill him you get something but if he survives a X amount of time he gets a helm pumpkin cosmetic. So much stuff they could do but they do nothing, cause they don't need to when people spends 25$ on shop only skins and 40/70$ on joke of expansions.
I think a "Haunted House" dungeon would be fun. You could have the ghost of Deckard Cain be the host and give you certain quests or objectives to complete or hints on how to complete certain parts of it. Have it filled with escape rooms and puzzles to solve to complete. Introduce some of the bosses from the other Diablo games to do jump scares or other things. Imagine hearing the nostalgic voice of the Skeleton King from the original Diablo saying "The warmth of life has entered my tomb" once again and he comes breaking through the walls with an army of skeletal minions. Sir Gorash comes charging from out of nowhere down a dark corridor. Give us transmogs related to these bosses on completion. The potential is there. It gives a nostalgic gift to long time players of the series and some background lore for those who haven't.
You'd think that Diablo, of all franchises, is primed to take advantage of and have a really amazing Halloween event. And the thing with the cost of creating events is that it's going to cost more upfront to develop the systems, but then you can spend less in future events by adjusting it and adding variations, etc. without having to completely overhaul it every single year. Make it good enough to begin with and the fact that it's a limited time event will keep it fresh for people, provided you make enough changes each year to keep it from being the exact same thing.
One of my favorite events of all time is the Darkmoon fair from WoW. It’s such a silly event but so much fun. Why hasn’t Diablo 4 done anything like that?
No Man's Sky has weekend community events that are a lot of fun to participate in, you may never see another player but knowing you're all working towards the same goal is fun
Totally agree with you Raxx, these events are so soulless and uninspired. There are so many awesome things they could do. For instance we could have the headless horseman riding around the open world and randomly attacking players and if you killed him you'd get special Halloween loot/cosmetics/mount. Or having hordes of zombies & skeletons besieging towns. Or a special graveyard/haunted forest stage. Or witch huts scattered around the world with cauldrons that could apply random buffs. So many things come to mind if you spend a little time thinking about it.
Cool idea. Here is another one. Beside putting holiday decorations up all over the world which should happen. Have ghouls, zombies, ghost, witches and whatever else you can think of spawn in town. Your probably thinking can't do that. Just have them move through the towns not attacking. Make it too where when they walk across the path of a npc they get scared and run from where they normally are for 15-30 seconds and then go back. Have the creatures laughing maniacally while going through the towns. Out in the world have special mobs spawn that are themed around the holiday and have it to where they are harder to kill. Give them the resilience of a world boss or better. Just don't make them hit much harder than a normal elite mob. Now for their drop tables. Have them drop five times the normal number of things. Gold, crafting mats, items and cosmetics. Give us a reason to hunt these mobs down.
He is right! The crazy thing is, it not like this is a game from a new company. Blizzard has been handling events for WoW for ever, it is crazy this is the baseline for an "event" from this company.
It's not even an event. No Halloween decor in towns. No quests. Nothing.
The D4 events have never excited me unfortunately
just imagine if k-mart was fully decorated for Halloween, it would be so cool

The LAMEST Halloween event I've ever experienced in any video game. Such a LAZY design.
Lazy all the way around. They can't even get their game in a stable place. Still crashing.
Do you play games hanging out for halloween events?
Seriously at this point why even have an event at all?
@@bobbobb5759when you spend money on a game that touts it's self as a live service it's nice to actually be rewarded on the holidays for sticking around as a player. WOW, same company. Different studio has massive holiday events. Why can't Diablo?

The mid season event in S5 March of the goblins was far better than this trash.
But please white knight for Blizzard 😂
I love how anyone would think _Blizzard_ who made like half a billion plus lacks the funds for special events, yet games like Guild Wars 2 invent _entirely new game modes_ for events.
yes, was thinking of GW halloween event too !
D4 was developed by 3 people, at least that how they make it seem
The super adventure box event in GW2 is so good, they are great at events.
A chance for a goblin and a chance for the butcher when you click on shrines isnt an event.
Plus the drops off both are mostly garbage.
I did exactly that... nice cat skin, I thought...until I saw the price. It was about one third of what I paid for the whole game!
Nope.
How can anyone "love" d4? Cmon like wtf
You know it's bad when Rax brings out the Paint presentation
🤣🤣🤣🤝🏻
Yep, shit gets real, fast !!!!
50000x ftfy lol
WoW was doing Haloween events right for years....Full town transmogs, candy, Headless horseman transmog and mount. Literally from the same company....
you can't compare a subscription game with a "paid once" game though. An event like Rax suggests costs money to make and they want D4 to be a viable product with as little money injected into it as possible.
@@armorvil Paladins is F2P game that has better events.
Can we all just agree that there isn’t any feeling of a Halloween event in the game, it genuinely feels like a minor buff to shrines
its a debuff also when u get a butcher to your face =d
@@Diopside. Well, technically, he MAY drop something good occasionally. And he isn't tough.
the skins suck too
If you logged in yesterday and had to ask yourself "has the event started yet" right there should tell you there' a problem. It should be very evident.
It does look more like a seasonal buff from DIII.
For those who played (and still play) Guild Wars 1 & 2... THAT is a Halloween event. Other games with great Halloween events, Neverwinter, World of Tanks, etc.
If you didn't see the patch notes, you wouldn't know there was an event....
Haha true, you would just think you get a couple cosmetics free in the shop.
I didn't know the mother's blessing was even a part of the event.
I didnt know there was an event and I play a good bit
I have been loud for a long time - all these Pepiora, Ferguson, Shely and other donkeys must be removed
I read the patch notes and I totally forgot that there was an event until a goblin dropped an event bag.
When asked what the extra work compensated for, they explain something trivial like "Oh well we were able to also afford soda and garlic bread!"
If the job hasn't bothered at all with extra compensation, you'd likely register a 5 out of 10 on the Hedonic treadmill.
Or....Jelly of the month club....if your Clark Griswold .
getting a conduit shrine is the worst feeling. it does not damage and all you can do is follow the goblin best you can until the conduit buff is gone.
And the worst part is this has been a problem for many a season, why ignore it and not address is by the time a major expansion hits.
Yeah it sucks so bad! Just give us a random chance to become the butcher for half a minute or something, with insane damage buffs
I just wait for it to go away. It’s so annoying
Lmao that they kept those so shitty too, what a joke....or tricks on you
That's because its a cursed shine! A nod to the fire shrines of old D2. :P
I have lost faith in the D4 team quite a while ago. I log in every now and then to play a character for a bit and get bored.
And so on...
because they dont care man, its honestly sad.
Yeah, this one has me annoyed too. What else is Blizzard working on that is draining their creativity for events like this? Its just a pathetic effort, no other way to cut it.
had more fun with this video then the halloween event in D4, thank you Raxx!
And there are goodies like flying brooms and such that makes it feel like Halloween.
even the events in diablo immoral has better events lol ;)
Yup so there’s another thing that could be themed to the event. World Bosses! We’re so used to the same 3 bosses change them into something event themed. Halloween could have Headless Horseman, Cthulhu, a scary clown. All new mechanics. Give an feat of strength or title for killing each one during the event.
If Blizzard was smart, they would hire you.
oh they are. that's why they are making money. good for us ? no ! but a business is a business
the real problem are the people paying more than 40 bucks voluntarily for this garbage (the "not really an addon" i mean)
Another point - putting "pumpkin heads on elites" doesn't have to be complicated, it can look janky as hell, that would make it more fun/funnier. Don't spend days perfectly sculpting pumpkin heads into every elites shoulders.
Meanwhile Blizz prepairing the Xmass event with an additional legendary item into the goblin sack.😂
Raxx not holding punches is why I'm subbed.
Dude loves it when things are good, and still tries to make good ideas when things are bad.
A truly passionate gamer o7
True and he basically plays and comments on this game currently for a living...Wouldn't you want the thing you constantly play to be actually fun lol.
Same problem with the season, there's no season
Bingo
A Greedy Overpriced Paywall please :P
Cosmetics are pointless in this game anyway. Cant see shit in combat. And everything is pretty zoomed out in general

After we talk about events, can we talk about season and them not being what I would consider seasons.
The season was the expansion stop kevetching.
They could do hundreds of different things for the Halloween event:
-"Infernal pumpkins" instead of Goblins (with Halloween-themed loot)
-Butcher randonmly spawn in Open World (Imagine that in Hell Tides!)
-Lilith as World Boss (Could be fun with hitboxes!)
-Halloween themed quest, with some lore and cosmetics (and NOT with Drops, zero effort)
-If you click a shrine a random skill is temporarily replaced with a skill from another class (trick or treat)
-The main cities should have been decorated with Pumpkins, Skeletons, Candles...
Instead we got:
-Latency
-Lag
-Rubberbanding
-DLSS disabled (without any communication)
-Client crashes
-A stupid Goblin with useless loot or a stupid Butcher with useless loot
They are the first to be bored with their own game.
It would be good if tormented bosses dropped ancestral legendaries. Grinding bossess is so boring now. They die in .5 of a sec and drop crap 99.99999% of the time. Season 5 loot was much more fun imho.
Yeah this season is garbage season 5 was so good
All seasons were garbage except season 2 where there was an actual event and way to change playstyle imo.
@@tervue93 And season 5 then, because they added 'An actual event which changed playstyle'.
E; hell, the vaults changed 'playstyle'.

This will probably go in history of Arpg`s as the worst event ever
And one of the single worst ARPGs period. Last Epoch, Titan Quest 2, Grim Dawn 2, POE 2, Torchlight Infinite, and even random indies are doing everything better than DIABLO 4. Blizzard is just pathetic.

And rax overestimates how important a Halloween event is to the "reputation" of D4. Blasters are hungry for new content, I get it. But 95% of player base still has tons of content to get thru and a short XP event is a good cherry on top
Dude it’s like 80$ game to begin with

Give us some headless horsemen level event content.
Fight a unique boss with unique cosmetics or even items that can drop.
Used to love those games, good old times
I remember of this, the map are very cool…
Not a Halloween inspired nightmare ye got…
its absolutely CRAZY how we know for a fact the idea that you came up with WHILE RECORDING YOUR VIDEO is far far more then anything they put into this "event". it doesnt make us think, it lets us know that they put the very very least amount, the bare minimum into a game that not only we love, but they are SUPPOSED to love and have a passion for making it better.
I got more excited with your idea than most game reveals this year. The whole community bar as ala helldivers NEEDS to come.
Raxx spitballing his Halloween event (mystery Mythics, kill ten billion spooky monsters, broom mounts) is the most fun I've had all day.
Look at what Blizzard did for holidays in World of Warcraft. Those had huge participation and were loved by the players. This just isn't the same Blizzard as back then. They now want to do the least amount of work and get paid more money.
Yeah I really remember the Xmas events fondly with the goofy snowball throwing and the Santa Claus in towns
Blizzard wants you to buy D4 so you have access to their cosmetic shop. Consider it a membership fee.
Literally all I did for this event was log in, get my stuff from the shop and log out. Gotta love the level of cope I have that the game will get better eventually haha😅
Welcome to the metaverse 😅😅
For some reason, if you use the exp buff from potions, incense & opal, you won't be able to get the buff from the exp wells in Nightmare Dungeons...

@@ashadreadful yup, and the only way to get the well's exp buff is to take it first then use the other buffs which is stupid XD
@XshadowXkhanX omg thank you for this comment.... I'll do that later today when I get back on
My theory is that the Diablo team is taking a break after launching the expansion, and they organized this event just to keep up with the festivities. At least, that’s what I’d like to believe.
poor excuse, really is
Bro THANK YOU for speaking on the fans of this games' behalf. It's so simple yet so appreciated. Your succinct and well-thought out suggestions are amazing.
how can you be a fan of Diablo 4 ? honest question. i try to like it, but everything is fucked in this game
3. Make a really hard unlock of maybe killing the "headless horseman" that temporarily replaces lilith, and you win his mount and/or his transmog
4. Make the ability to get a witches broom for a mount
etc.
In addition to the above, we need immediate fix to the event to make it more attractive:
1. Enable the shrine effect in all game modes where shrines are present - making it exclusive to NMDs is just bad
2. Spawn goblins or Butcher immediately, do not make us wait
3. Allow treasure bags stacking
I'm out.
oh you poor thing oh no
Going off the event mythic uniques idea, could make them all transform into a specific normal unique but keep the halloween look.
Or a higher chance for high end codex rolls.
City of Heroes was my first MMO - the holiday events were epic, especially Halloween. This is just lame.
I loved that game!
The private servers being run by volunteers right now have better Halloween events than this mega million dollar AAA game.
@@Rick-tg4oy the game is still active?
This Halloween event feels like an after thought written on a Post It note that fell under a desk and they just went with it.

the D4 team should have a meeting with the WoW team and learn how to do Holiday/Special events.
Blizzard really needs to start listening more to this guy. Once again, thank you Raxx, you are a blue-hooded blessing for the Diablo community.
They should do something silly like have demons running around with pumpkin heads or something
As far as I remember, they used to do really good Halloween events in World of Warcraft, where you had to fight a headless horseman boss for nice loot, includingly a mount and there was decorations in all towns and cities + festive quest line.
That costume idea would be hilarious if, as a rogue, you put them all on, and it turns you into a spirit born.
Swap rogue with druid and you finally have a viable and fun to play class. Just put on a suit and play as another class but deep down know you are a druid.

yoo rax, 1st round is on me...thanks for all your efforts towards diablo franchise, you are on my hall of fame

It’s pitiful. The horse was ugly too
You forecasted what could’ve been one of the most impactful and memorable events in Diablo history in less than 20 minutes as a singular person.
The idea behind it isn't bad, but the rewards need to be better. And there isn't enough shrines in most NMD.
Every season we are saying this and every season Blizzard manages to fuck it up.
Yes, at least some cool trasmog to show
And if we are talking about rewards, the whispers rewards regardless of being legendary or not ALWAYS needs to drop at least one Ancestral piece of gear in T4. So sick of getting fodder for my time.
If it wasn't for the new splash screen, I wouldn't have known an event was going on.
Headless horsemen world boss we need
They need to focus on balance and build diversity because that's what's killing this game for me right now.
The way borderlands 3 handled holiday events was pretty cool. Exclusive weapons, gear and cosmetics during their events. Special areas, bosses, quests. That would be something that could work for diablo iv holiday events.
100% with this whole video. Lots of good points. Really like the community goal idea too those are always fun in games
Love your idea of the cosmetic set. Logging in daily or completing the activity/challenge. That’s awesome. 100% on keeping it reel.
They really put the minimum in the game and hire DEI's so they dont have to pay for competences or effort
Heartfelt words he's speaking bro
I absolutely agree with you that a disappointing (non) event is damaging overall. It reduces enthusiasm for future events...
Love you ideas man for making that event better.
He is right! The crazy thing is, it not like this is a game from a new company. Blizzard has been handling events for WoW for ever, it is crazy this is the baseline for an "event" from this company.
