Wow, Hampton is very underrated but they are a great marching band and even though they are small they are well balanced and you can hear the different parts; great job Hampton marching band, keep up the great work

Did anybody else notice the snare drummer on the far left’s strap came off and he had to hold the drum with his hand until the end? Kudos to him 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

5lim_so_fly i thought the same thing... but then I realized if he hurt his back, he still wouldn’t be marching. Then i noticed he was still holding the drum and the other drummers were playing with both hands and thought “yeah his strap broke” lol

Great job by the Force. Small but mighty.🖒🖒 Congrats to my Omega Psi Phi frat brother Dr. Thomas L. Jones for returning to HU and rebuilding a proud program. We miss you at A&T but wish you much success at Hampton and in the Big South Conference. My son Greg Pridgeon, II played saxophone at Hampton with Thomas

Dr. Thomas, awesome job. I think this show was innovative in that it maintained tradition but implemented something new. I enjoyed this show. This is definitely awesome use of a group this size. Very clean show and decent sound

Praying for my school. The band has had its ups and down over the years. They will never match the quality of the deep South colleges but they try. Kudos to all the students who sacrifice their time to be in the band. Thank you!

I'm still wrapping my head around the fact the Hampton University Marching Force is the 1st HBCU band to march MAPEX MARCHING DRUMS AND SILVER PLATED ZILDJIANS.
The fact that they unveiled them at this year's HONDA BOTB, I couldn't even tell the Force was marching those drums and cymbals the 1st time I saw this video earlier this year.

They are on their way back, good show! The new director marched with the Force in the 90's when the band was on the A game. The potential is there and I can't wait to see them fall 2018 ;)

Good job !!! I like how they had different marching styles. But if yall are gonna demonstrate different marching styles, I need to be able to tell the difference. Yalls high step almost looked the same as yalls corp style. But other than that, good job. Great song selection, and thanks for representing us in Virginia. Keep it up so we can see the return of the battle of the bay

    • @ThomasLJonesJr
      @ThomasLJonesJr 6 років тому +2

That's actually by design. We adopt a corps style march that is similar to what the Cavaliers drum and bugle corps does, which has a slight knee lift. That way, you can do both at the same time in all directions without it breaking the uniformity of the band....and it's corps style, not "corp" style. Thanks much for the compliments and support--we are definitely doing something special over here!

  • @wrecklessteees5302

the band did good dancers did ok need more energy and everyone need to work on flexibility if your going t do leg lift it should look like a split standing up not like u struggling trying to get ur leg up

Hmmm I don't know where to start.
I absolutely love the way your diamonds or squares started off small, and expanded. It looks great each time it's done.
I love how the girls came thru in those metallic capes! Great visual effect!
I didn't like the four girls with the ribbons. They gave me little Tadpoles or Sperm or sumn. The way they would wiggle their ribbons... the routine just didn't come off collegiate. It seems more Kid's Church Praise Dance Team...
@2:56 Them Drum Majors have a war with evil spirits and principalities! They have a fight with their maces. Their routine didn't flow, sell, or look great. It was almost kind of scary seeing an exorcism like that on the field!
But before that, the first thought with Chris Brown's "Forever" was it wasn't a good song to play from a school band of this size. Then they went into "Kiss Kiss" and I still thought they were playing wrong music for their size. Refreshed, nonetheless, to be hearing different music you don't ordinarily hear, but these songs need more depth from a larger band.
That Missy Elliott "Bad Man" Tuba fanfare going into the Drumline feature was a nice touch! #Respect!
    Dancer's Routine.
Timbaland's "The Way I Are" again was not a good song for a band this size to play.
The Routine, I liked (although I saw comments saying it wasn't great). How about they were refreshing based on the fact that they added a new element to your show that was not already done. Some bands by this point (Miles) already had a dance breakdown. Hampton (outside of the Drummajors) are finally introducing dance after giving you formations, music, and drills! #Respect!
The Captain, you can either love her or hate her. She reminds me of the Latino girls from PVAMU's Black Foxes last year. They both hit the moves EXTRA hard, which stands out from the rest. Either you can like them for giving it their all and going H.A.M., or you could dislike them, for not looking uniformed with the rest, or even exposing those who don't seem to match the energy to make them appear lackluster. I applaud the Captain, particularly if she is a graduating senior, for going out with a bang and leaving it all on the field!
I seen some say the outfits are not nice, but they added some great abstract visuals from the rest of the band.
    The flag feature:
Interesting song choices. DMs looked better (maybe someone else choreographed this part...) but it was my least favorite part of the show. I do like the flags. They were together too!
The rest of the show was blah.
Altogether I give this show two different grades.
For an ordinary Football Game Saturday type show, this is relatively a B-
But for a HBOB show, I'd prolly say D- ...there was nothing remarkable or memorable here to see...
