It is fun to watch people that are passionate and good in what they do. It is fun to watch groups of people perform very well and as one. A marching band is a good example of that. They perform with a lot of togetherness and synchronicity. It is fun to watch the college marching bands march into their stadiums so that they can get ready for their football game activities. Many of the marching band members march in with their game faces on. The musicians and the dancers of those bands are geniuses because they have to memorize a lot in order to be able to perform very well and in great synchronicity whenever they perform anywhere as a group. It is great to be able to read, write, and play music. Everyone on Earth should be a member of some type of musical band.
I watched the show from top to bottom. If I'm able to do that, then the show was good. The international players anthem into the drum major entrance was nothing less than spectacular. whoever came up with that idea is brilliant. I like how they had a dance (,Lit) break before the drill. Speaking of, Bethune cookman's drilling is precise. They can literally spell/illustrate whatever they want. The 14k dancers gave me life. They went full out from open to close. The sophisticats are just that.. Sophisticated!! I love them , Lol. Shout out to the bass drums and tubas on holding it down on the dance routine
BLU X BCU is definitely the most consistent band out here now. No scandals, no flop in numbers, consistent sound, solid danceline and a rich history. You cannot speak on the best bands in HBCU history without mentioning BCU.
superGJ24 for both! Swac and meac. Stop basing what a good band is off of a out dated book. That shouldn’t be the only factor. What about marching, sound QUALITY, instrumentation, dynamics, show design, musicianship, etc.
Never heard of your Univ before, just looking for something to use in a paper for my class project. Gotta say, you guys are really awesome. I was in marching band in the 80s and loved it, and you guys are just beyond! Keep up the stellar work! You sound great!!
Cristie Poole this school is a Historical Black College & University. It was founded as an all girls school in Palatka, FL by Mary McCloud Bethune and later moved to Daytona Beach, FL. The current name is a result of a merger with Cookman Institute in Jacksonville, FL hence Bethune-Cookman College, became an University in 2007. The marching band was established in the early sixties and first was comprised of all men. They have a FB page you can obtain some history from.
I'm just glad to see a serious marching band that isn't using a synthesizer on the field. You know... the way marching band was always meant to be. (My old high school is turning marching band into a marching 'jazz' band.)
Why the hate. Yeah they have been boring the last few seasons but they're highly consistent...what band can keep this size for 15 years+ BCU sounds great. Although I feel Wells need to listen to his students about change but it's his band many members do want a new book an new material but good job BCU Nothing like seeing good stuff from HBCUS
Hey I cant say anything too bad about BCU ..The band director is a grad of Norfolk State plus he is from Smithfield Va...I'm from Hampton Va so he is a homey..
SHOUTOUT TO ALL THE BCU HATERS!!! We don’t give af about y’all opinions because we number 1 every year for a reason! A LEGENDARY BAND y’all School could never be lmaoooo

Interesting philosophy of "loud is proud" and being entertaining (dancing) is more important than musicianship and more complex charting. And yes, I have experience as a band director and one who marched the Rose Parade (world class being invited as a non-pack 10 football band). We were invited because we were great musically.
Different philosophy, mentality and audience(probably). If you grew up on corp style marching and don't have an open mind, it's difficult to understand. I've been there(corp style my whole marching career), and felt the same until I got into the culture of show style and opened my mind to it. Just my 2 cents. have a good day
Its an HBCU!! It's what WE do.. A Core Band would be a snoozefest to this audience. I think you need appreciate cultural differences instead thinking others should appropriate yours.
Ok Marching Orders brought me here after seeing a few shows. I have been a bandhead my whole school life when I was young. I don't see the kind of entertainment we used to bring when I was in the band. Grambling Tigers 80's. We had a precicion drill at 190 steps a minute. We moved the entire time on the field. We never put instruments down to dance and we were the first band to travel international back in the day. The old Coke commercial is what drove me to that band. What I saw here was a slow march into BCU, no real precision drill, no march tune and the band stopped moving for the dancers to come on the field. I love BCU's entrance but I am not moved. The netfix show is entertaining though. I will keep watching.
Let's see YOU consistently keep the excellence this program has going, with kids coming & moving on. He deserves, and GETS praise & respect. The fact that it's not coming from YOU means nothing whatsoever. You prolly can't even keep your socks organized.
Man this band is the most organized and crisp band out there right now. The only thing they cant do is get the audience into their show. Their dance routines are hella boring and the announcer isnt helping out. I miss the old FAMU they was the band to get the audience on their feet and hype but they probably wont be the same for a number of years.
Looks like the majority of BCU enrollment in the band...I hope this students going to class, that's if they are all enrolled...Drum Line movie was 20 years ago...you need to move on.See I didn't mention FAMU.
Dumb statement you can't be in the band without a GPA of 2.0 this isn't famu who had people in the band who didn't even go to the school or came back to March for 10 years
STYLE bands and food different not better or more important NETFLIX didn't do band styles they are giving someone else room too exsplore the many different types of matching band. FOR EXAMPLE DANCE MILITARY D.C.I.and SHOW BANDS YOU CAN'T JUDGE UNLESS YOU'RE IN THESE AND NOT MANY COULD SO SOMEBODY GO AND DO THIS PROJECT AND THEN SAY WHAT IS WHAT CAUSES YOU JUST WOULDN'T KNOW AND HONOISTLY I DON'T THINK ANYONE HAS THAT KIND OF TALENT . TALK IS CHEAP SO IF YOU ARE WILLING GET A GO PRO A UA-cam CHANNEL AND GO MARCHING BAND STYLE SURFING.💙
Like this if Netflix “Marching Orders” brought you here.
Indeed it did.
You know it!!! :)
Episodes were too dang short...I binged through the entire season in a few hours. I need to see more of this band
ZymbalistiK it did lol I was just mad as hell that each episode was 12 mins long!! Way more of a storyline then they provided
LOL! They are amazing!
They need to add another season to Marching orders cause that season from 2016 we need recent
Marching Orders was really good. I hope they add more seasons!
Amazing that such a small school has such a large band. Go Wildcats!
The Baddest Fight song in collegiate sports, hands down!!!

Dear announcer: please stop talking after 5 seconds.
We've got the most beautiful women in the world.
You guys ever have any members that march drum corps ?
Ok now
Bethune is known for playing R. Kelly and always sound damn good when they do; I guess that was the end of that. 😫

can anybody tell me the name of the song that the band is playing?
I think that during marching band performances the announcer would just shut his yap and let the audience hear what the marching band has to offer.
Somebody help me out. What was the drill song?
that drum major would’ve hit with some props or something

Ro Velt no lie ay is one of my favorite bands outside of Bcu. There horns are amazing
Ro Velt I love Jackson State with all my heart in the Boom but that Southern University oh my God😎👑

Scott Vernon nah. That is traditional hbcu drum major performance. It’s a lot different from what normal drum majors do.

Good, but BCC can’t hold a candle to the World Renown FAMU Marching 100.
Those are rushing every single count. Flexed feet, hopping on all turns and bent legs on all leaps. Fo take a technique class.
once their entrance ends their boring show is over
