This song is about a tragic love story with different meanings, but I have to convince myself it's only about caterpillars because, otherwise I'll break down each time I listen to it.
Exactly! It's "a tragic love story with different meanings", you said it perfectly. One can actually put it on the background of another heartbreaking story of loss and distancing and would fit beautifully.
Yet I always cry to it cause the lyrics I can relate with my Spanish ex who abandoned me & our baby. So thr part that abuela was left alone with her triplets, I just bawl everytime. The lyrics are so fitting also to me and my ex's situation.
I feel you sis,l am totally moved by this song.l am of African ,Latin, French European and Native American decent .l live in Trinidad.And l broke down and cried when l heard the song accompanied by the video .I always feel so sorry for Latin Americans they seem to be always in situations that cause them to have to leave their homes because of bad Governance in their countries.lt hurts to see how hard alot of them have to work and seek out a new life for their families.l couldnt help but cry and ask God why does it always have to be like this for these people.They are beautiful people .Eager to learn ,love and live ...lts so sad.l always pray for them ,in my heart .They God would always provide a way of escape for them.ln any situation that might befall them.

I lost my husband Dec 2, 2021 Colon Cancer he was 52. I watched this with my grandson shortly after and it rips my heart out every single time. Peace be with you and may both of our husbands rest in peace and may we be able to go forward without them, until we see them again

As a Colombian this song hits me right in the heart. Some how i related it to the hard time many Colombians endure with the conflicts or La guerrilla, in the video it shows they had to migrate to another place and start from zero. I am an immigrant We didn’t have to endure that but in order to grow we have to leave our beautiful country behind because there is not many opportunities to grow. No, it's called Dos oruguitas because is in spanish, nobody would call "we don't talk about bruno" "No se habla de bruno" unless we talk about the spanish version of course.This one was never intended as an english song, the story carves through colombian history so hard to be sang in English.
@Abandon the title of the song itself isn't too important, it's just about the two lovers (hence, the orugitas) living through hardships, but, given the context of the movie and Colombian history, it's about two lovers searching for a miracle (el milagro) to leave happy and peacefully through the Colombian civil war that moved so many people.
So, the first part it's about them in a complicated world, they are "llenas de hambre, siguen navegando", searching for a better place (for them and the children). Then, the song talk about they growing and asking when they will stop to live. And the main verse has 2 parts: the first one is when they get from "orugitas" to "crisálidas", so, it's growing up, but they couldn't grow up because of the civil war. That's why they are searching for the miracle "Vienen milagros, vienen crisálidas
Hay que partir y construir su propio futuro".
The next part, being the part when Maribel and Alma hug, is the part where they get from "orugitas" to "mariposas", they already passed the hardships, and the miracle already happened, thus "Ya son milagros, rompiendo crisálidas
Hay que volar, hay que encontrar
Su propio futuro". Here I'm distancing from the lovers part, as the discurso change there from the lovers to the family, as the miracle did in the movie in the end
Of course it's an interpretation, but the context helps a lot to get the tone of the song (but anyways Sebastian Yatra really did a good job transmitting the feelings of the lyrics into the song)
I think if Pedro had lines, it would be Sebastian's voice actor. Which also make this sadder because it's like he's singing to her 😭😭
This isn’t a breakup song but for some reason I’ve been listening to this on repeat after getting dumped and the tone reflects how I feel

Yes, it is a good translation, but I think there is an error in the last part when you puts "they are already miracles", the best translation would be "you are already miracles", because the singer is speaking in the second person in that part, he is talking to the butterflies.
