a lot of people are having serious debates about judy's life and all i can think of is how beautiful and talented she is and how much i love that dress!
Be weird and unusual-and do no cruelty to others-and sing this song (or embrace this sentiment) with TOTAL pride. Her artistic self stands for a lot of people who didn’t “fit in” and who still don’t need to “fit in”.
Jesse Dennis Yep, I was about to say that. Unfortunately, too many people, women particularly, do care what others think. The only person you need to please is you, no one else.
Judy Garland was not a tragedy! Judy Garland had many happy times in her life! This is classic performance! Thís musical number is pure movie magic! This is the best version of this song ever! Judy Garland is showing what a gifted comedian she is! I love this number!
As an aspiring actor, I often listen to this song whenever I get really nervous before an audition-or if I get rejected. Judy Garland is great-and perhaps more beautiful here than in all the other clips I've seen.
Lyrics below: They say I'm crazy Got no sense But I don't care They may or may not mean offense But I don't care You see, I'm sort of independent I am my own superintendent And my star is on the ascendant That's why I don't care I don't care, I don't care What they may think of me I'm happy-go-lucky, they say that I'm plucky Content and carefree I don't care Don't care if I do get a mean and stony stare If I'm not successful it won't be distressful Cause I don't care A girl should know her etiquette Alas, alack Propriety demands we walk a narrow track When fellas used to blink at me I'd freeze 'em and they'd shrink at me But now when fellas wink at me I wink at them right back! I don't care I don't care if people frown on me Perhaps it's the lone way But I go my own way That's my philosophy I don't care I don't care if he's clerk or just a millionaire There's no doubt about it, I'll sing and I'll shout it Cause I don't care Oh, I don't care, I don't care When it comes to happiness, I want my share Don't try to rearrange me There's nothing can change me 'cause I don't care.
Years ago my dad bought a cassette tape of Judy's songs. This was one of the songs on that tape and I just fell in love with it at the time. I'd never heard of this song at the time but it has become one of my all time favorite songs because like her, "I Don't Care"😂
AHH Judy you've just made me feel SO HAPPY!!! What a terrific performance, beautifully crafted, and came out straight from your heart and soul, right into mine-WOW. What a legacy you've left for us all to share in, a TRUE LEGEND, with a genius TALENT! BRAVO, blessings and thank you, so very much.
So wonderful to finally find this song! All my friends thought I was imagining it. Now I can prove it. This is one of my favorite songs of hers. Thank you!
I feel like if I were ever to go into showbiz I'd definitely be another Judy Garland. And at some points that scares me and at other times I'd be really happy either way. She's a whopping legend. RIP. -Jes
I first heard this song from Ralph Bakshi's "American Pop", and have been trying to make it my mantra. That was 9 years ago, and I'm NOW discovering it was the Late-Great Judy Garland who first sang it. Love it! ❤️
My sister (who sometimes gets irritated by my obsession with Judy) said at the beginning of this number “you should care cause you look ridiculous” but by the end she was saying “oh my god same!” Judy knew how to please everyone watching her and that’s one of the many many reasons I love her!
This song felt so out of step with the rest of the movie (like "Get Happy" in Summer Stock the next year), but it kicks so much ass, it doesn't really matter. It's one of those moments that is sort of a capper on Judy's nervous and hesitant MGM persona and of the conventions of the MGM musical format being blown wide open at decade's end.
my one wish is that in at least of of judy garlands videos someone wouldn't bring up her drug problems that weren't her fault and just enjoy the legend that was JUDY GARLAND!
It's hard not to. For example, this film In the Good Old Summertime, she looks absolutely fantastic. She's only 27 here at the very oldest, but a year earlier in Easter Parade she was coming off a mental breakdown and was unhealthily thin.
I remember as a kid Kevin Meaney doing this in his stand up act and it always cracked me up. I didn't realize he was doing Judy Garland until I was an adult. This song is in the chamber ready to go anytime anybody presents me with plans or ideas that I'm not interested in participating in.
One of my favorite songs and so well done. Thanks for the post. This song was written in 1905 for the great star Eva Tanguay, who became so identified with it, that she became known as the I Don't Care Girl. A movie bio was done about her that was produced by Georgie Jessel that starred Mitzi Gaynor as Eva.
if you're in the UK www.vivienofholloway.com/ do ALOT of these dresses cheaply and high quality. If you contact them they could locate one for you or have it custom made at a sliughtly higher cost :) xxx
Poor Judy. I wish she really hadn't cared! Hollywood gave her amphetamines for her weight and to give her energy, barbiturates to sleep since the speed kept her awake, alcohol because *everybody* in Hollywood drank it,(especially her 3rd husband Sid Luft. She really didn't have a chance!
***** I don't think that's what I said. We all have personal responsibility when we're out of control. Doctors tried to clean her up lots of times. It's tough to live not feeling great when "great" is in a little pill.
***** I didn't mean it to sound that way. "Judy Garland" - whose real name was Ethyl Gumm - had a monstrous ego. She'd even try to upstage Liza when they'd sing together.
***** well, why can't she? You can throw around "personal responsibility" all you want, but the fact of the matter is that Judy Garland had little control over her life the moment she signed with MGM in her early teens (emphasize TEENS), and whose influence carried over even after she parted with them. She was insecure of her looks which were thought to be average, exacerbated by what others (eg MGM studio chief) said about her TO her, and that she was dressed a certain way and was made to wear things on her face to keep a certain "look" doesn't help. And when her schedule got packed (one movie after another), she (AMONG other young performers) were given said amphetamines and barbiturates to keep up with it, which led to her addiction (aggravated also by the stress of being an in-demand celebrity and her rocky relationships), which led to her early death. Could she have gotten help? DEFINITELY. The question is if someone pulled a HIMYM-type intervention so that she realized she needed it, and if so, if she accepted it. And this is where she would/should/could have taken responsibility.
a lot of people are having serious debates about judy's life and all i can think of is how beautiful and talented she is and how much i love that dress!
yeah, I would tear that dress apart.
The dress is awesome.
Dont give a shit opinions are like Assholes everyone has one especially assholes, I'll remember her as she was, like in this video.
me too
People may have serious debates about her life, but she clearly doesn't care!!! 😎
this song speaks to me on so many levels.
Me too.
The perfect song when you have 0 fucks to give XD
It became my life song at 15 and almost 20 years later, still is lol
This really is my personal anthem and words to live by.
Be weird and unusual-and do no cruelty to others-and sing this song (or embrace this sentiment) with TOTAL pride. Her artistic self stands for a lot of people who didn’t “fit in” and who still don’t need to “fit in”.
she is one of the greatest female performers of all time!
Absolutely 💯
My mom used to sing this when i was a kid. I just posted it to her facebook page. She's 88. She loved it!
So coool 🥰❤
How awesome
Got to propagandize the children as early as possible.
The original Shake it off. All hail Judy.
Jesse Dennis Yep, I was about to say that. Unfortunately, too many people, women particularly, do care what others think. The only person you need to please is you, no one else.
As much as I like Shake It Off, this is better
Hail to the Queen!!!
“Now when fellows wink at me...I wink at them right back” a savage
Lol not the word that I would use to describe her but she was certainly quirky and like a pure glitter rainbow inside her heartsoul 🌈💖
@@Infjffswtfsavage is a good thing. Just slang meaning strong/bold and don’t care what other’s think.
Savage is the perfect word. She was savage for saying those brave words in that year. When women were not aloud to speak like that @@Infjffswtf
You're right I love that another young person likes this. This song made me laugh!
Judy Garland was not a tragedy! Judy Garland had many happy times in her life! This is classic performance! Thís musical number is pure movie magic! This is the best version of this song ever! Judy Garland is showing what a gifted comedian she is! I love this number!
My teacher used this song to dance to when he was talking about excuses for not turning in projects! He was like i don't care, you get an F! 😂
what a legend your teacher was!
Maddie Romero jajajaja
He sounds amazing
Hahah
This man should receive a surprise of you dancing this song with your classmates 😂
PERFECT VOICE, TONE, TUNE, TIMING, DANCE MOVES, FOOT WORK, BODY MOVEMENTS, FUN, FUNNY, PERFECT BEAUTY, VIBRANT, VIVACIOUS, BURSTING WITH TALENT AND GRACE... THE TOTAL ENTERTAINER JUDY GARLAND!!!
Sublime acting, sublime singing, sublime EVERYTHING❤
As an aspiring actor, I often listen to this song whenever I get really nervous before an audition-or if I get rejected. Judy Garland is great-and perhaps more beautiful here than in all the other clips I've seen.
She's literally perfect! Such a brilliant performance! Love the song!
I love her…. Rare soul for sure ❤❤❤
I adore this song! and nobody could do it better than Judy! 💝
This plays in my head every time I come across a movie or show I don't plan on seeing
"I don't care if he's a clerk, or just a millionaire." I love it.
I thought it was a cook 👨🍳 hmm 🤔 I’ve been singing it wrong all along 😂
They did a good job on rewriting many of the lyrics. Some of the original 1905 lyrics would be unacceptable today.
I need that dress because of reasons.
Same
Same
Lol I say that when watching all my favorite Judy Garland films. She literally had the most gorgeous dresses in classic film😊😊
I don't care
I often get this song stuck in my head during work meetings.
Lyrics below:
They say I'm crazy
Got no sense
But I don't care
They may or may not mean offense
But I don't care
You see, I'm sort of independent
I am my own superintendent
And my star is on the ascendant
That's why I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
What they may think of me
I'm happy-go-lucky, they say that I'm plucky
Content and carefree
I don't care
Don't care if I do get a mean and stony stare
If I'm not successful it won't be distressful
Cause I don't care
A girl should know her etiquette
Alas, alack
Propriety demands we walk a narrow track
When fellas used to blink at me
I'd freeze 'em and they'd shrink at me
But now when fellas wink at me
I wink at them right back!
I don't care
I don't care if people frown on me
Perhaps it's the lone way
But I go my own way
That's my philosophy
I don't care
I don't care if he's clerk or just a millionaire
There's no doubt about it, I'll sing and I'll shout it
Cause I don't care
Oh, I don't care, I don't care
When it comes to happiness, I want my share
Don't try to rearrange me
There's nothing can change me 'cause I don't care.
We need a version for A Bug's Life.
Thanks for the post!
She was amazing ❤
Love this song. Its basically my motto in life. I love Judy.
The song that basically describes my life right now
Kayla Baker same girl, same
Years ago my dad bought a cassette tape of Judy's songs. This was one of the songs on that tape and I just fell in love with it at the time. I'd never heard of this song at the time but it has become one of my all time favorite songs because like her, "I Don't Care"😂
God she's great.
Is this my favourite song? Yes
The last part sums up Judy Garland! “Don’t try to rearrange me, there’s nothing can change me, cause I don’t care!”🎶
Such an amazing performance
❤💚❤ RIP Judy
The absolute greatest lady who ever graced a screen or stage. Nobody else even comes close.
"BUT I DON'T CARE"🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🗣🗣🔥🔥
A radiant performance. Such talent, she brought so much joy to so many. I wish her life could have been longer and not marred with so much chaos.
Exquisite, Magnificent, Spectacular, Glorious!!
Love her so much!!!
Superlatives are too weak to describe her and her amazing energy and talent!! !
I can relate. Realizing and accepting who you truly are, regardless of who that is, is liberating.
Judy Garland is one of the most hilarious people on earth... smart, profoundly funny, a very beautiful person inside and out.
Priceless! Bookmark this page and watch this video every morning before you go out into the world.
love her dress so beautiful a true talent
AHH Judy you've just made me feel SO HAPPY!!! What a terrific performance, beautifully crafted, and came out straight from your heart and soul, right into mine-WOW. What a legacy you've left for us all to share in, a TRUE LEGEND, with a genius TALENT! BRAVO, blessings and thank you, so very much.
Catherine Blair kate?
Now imagine if she had dressed up as Harley Quinn years before that character was introduced.
love her arm movements at 0:24
XD
I know right!
Judy Garland can see anything and make it sound great 👍 👌 👏
Judy clearly cared a great deal. That's why she's unforgettable.
Every Britney fan can appreciate this!
“Sure sounds like she cares” 😂
THIS SONG IS MY ENTIRE LIFE. I SHALL WALK AROUND SINGING IT ALL THE TIME.
Back to the future the game brought me because of Marty’s Grandma Trike Trotter
Aw this song was Britney singing in 1992 and she sounded great
Freaking love her. Still alive in 2022 beauty
I have such a spiritual connection with this song!
Same!😁
So wonderful to finally find this song! All my friends thought I was imagining it. Now I can prove it. This is one of my favorite songs of hers. Thank you!
I’ll have to find an excuse to sing this!
There was only HER that could pull this one off. Cheers Judy.
Here we are 2018 and this still should be a motto for all those being bullied.
She looked beautiful here. And just to think in only 20 years she would look like a frail 70 year old in her final days. RIP.
I feel like if I were ever to go into showbiz I'd definitely be another Judy Garland. And at some points that scares me and at other times I'd be really happy either way. She's a whopping legend. RIP. -Jes
Happy Birthday Judy!!! I love you so much!! We all love you!! You were so pretty!!
This is such a good song..and freaking ageless. Like you can sing the song today and it still have it's meaning.
Need this energy in my life RN.
Amphetamines are a hell of a drug.
I think she is amazing in this! So talented.
I love this song so much...the dance moves make me laugh SO much! Judy delivers this perfectly...!
I first heard this song from Ralph Bakshi's "American Pop", and have been trying to make it my mantra.
That was 9 years ago, and I'm NOW discovering it was the Late-Great Judy Garland who first sang it. Love it! ❤️
This is my favorite song hers. I mean it. She is having such a good time.!!!! Love her forever.A true Queen!
Shes so beautiful
I love how she twirls around the light fixture with so much ease.
That's one of my favorite all time scenes. When I saw that scene for the first time I thought my gosh she athletic too.
Judy Garland. A master at her Craft!
This song was way ahead of it's time XD
Judy will always have a place in my heart
My second favorite Judy Garland musical moment (#1 is Friendly Star from Summer Stock).
Just perfection.
Your taste in Judy moments is impeccable!
haha I love it! It shows just how much she got into it when she performed; you could tell she loved it and had fun doing it! :)
I love this lady so much 😍
She will be always my fav, and this song applies to my life right now. Judy You always get it right! THANKS
Great performer. Imagine having to do that almost every day of your life.
This movie is also wonderful, and Judy is absolutely vibrant!
This has been my theme song and all-around jam since birth.
the energy and pure talent that radiates from her in this clip is so like her daughter Liza’s performance of cabaret. Their similarities are uncanny
This is an early 20th century song. She is so awesome
God, she could belt out a song. R.I.P. Judy.
brilliant physicality! not only is the voice superb but her gestures are surprising and make me feel free, just watching them
The greatest ever? I don't know. And I don't care. But she was magnificent!!!!
The absolute best ever.
My sister (who sometimes gets irritated by my obsession with Judy) said at the beginning of this number “you should care cause you look ridiculous” but by the end she was saying “oh my god same!” Judy knew how to please everyone watching her and that’s one of the many many reasons I love her!
😭I love her so much.
This really kept me captivated from beginning to end
This is the best thing I've listened to all day :)
I love her voice so much ❤❤❤❤❤
My life motto.

Every now and then I come back and listen to this video over and over because it is the theme song of my life and I love it😄 thanks for posting💖
I love this woman!!!
Ever since I was a kid I wanted to be like a Hollywood Star!!!! ;)
I got a modern version of this dress for my aunt's wedding! Thanks Judy!!
my one wish is that in at least of of judy garlands videos someone wouldn't bring up her drug problems that weren't her fault and just enjoy the legend that was JUDY GARLAND!

A moment of pure magic at the movies!

i don't care, i don't care, what they say about me. when it comes to happiness i want my share.
My science teacher uses this as her personal anthem and now kids go around flinging there arms and saying I don’t care
Judy Garland is the best!!!!! Love her and her songs!!!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

love it, love her. exactly what I needed someone to say to me.
Wow I Love Judy
Britney Spears sang it on star search when she was 8 years old! She was so cute and her voice was amazing too :).
ever since I saw the movie "In the good old summertime", this has been my theme song! It's one of my favourites.
Always will be wonderful to see and hear Judy Garland singing beautiful songs!
That dress is amazing! Anyone know any dresses like it?

Darn, I'm in the US. :( I'll keep that in mind though!
I think you can order internationally :) have a wee look anyway I am sure there will be an option for you! :) xx
Check out Suzy Cherry's work at etsy.com/shop/daintyrascal --- she could make this!
