It was great meeting these guys at Blade Show and I am looking forward to checking that knife out for sure. Thanks for the look and lucky for me, I'm a right-handed person. Yay!
It looks like what a drift should've been. It also makes me think of giantmouse ace tribeca.
A relief cut on the outside is technically stronger because the stress experienced by a framework runs in a straight line from the tang down the lock bar, uninterrupted by the relief. Detents are easier to set because the bent lock bar contacts the blade at a less steep/more parallel angle. Also, larger chamfers on the top of the frame can be done without leaving a gap where the relief is.
Your right about all this but it's a light use knife that's mostly bought for the design. Although my sebenza has the relief cut on the inside and it's the strongest framelock I've ever had.
Huh thanks
Snagged one off their website! Should be delivered today, really excited.
Such an amazing design & build! Lovin mine! 🔥🔥🔥
First knife I thought of when I saw this was the Stout, even before the Rosie vibes set in. I think it's the generous choil and Bestech pivot design. The Stout V2 is one of my all-time favorite EDC knives and this looks like a winner too.
Awesome thanks man!
Thanks for the great review Lefty. Really well done as always. But man... $400 for that knife... yikes. You should buy what you love, but you can get a great USA-made Spyderco PM2 in Magnacut, plus a beautiful set of USA-made Ti scales from RGT or Rockscale, and have a comparable 100% USA-made knife for LESS.
I nabbed one from Stephen at Blade. Really enjoying this knife.
I'm a lefty and when I was buying my first knife I was consumed with it being left carry but when I got it I was like wait it feels better in my right lol same with fishing but I write with my left throw with my right ya I'm weird 😅
That knife is sick dude! I want
Awesome review Kev! …I might be said “buddy”.
P.S. Stephen might be considering left handed versions 🙊
I totally agree on tbe price. It's a tad high but its one fine knife.
Price is another downside as I am waiting on a Scout F3.5 and it's $330
Yeah I really like the looks of the profile of the Sikorae! It gives me the same vibe as the Rob Johnson Cedar but smaller
American designers with Chinese oem knives are starting to price them selves out. I know bestech charges alot cause you've been open about it, but i recently bought a abw button lock for less than this. Even Brian at sharp by design said he isnt doing his budget design shown at blade show because he doesn't feel he can sell enough to be worth it.
Yea it’s tricky. I think we just gotta take a smaller cut and live with it. Or switch oems.
That looks exactly like the Miguron Moyarl but for double the price. It is a sexy Knife though but for that price i'd rather get a Sharp by Design Mini Evo or the Divo Stout V2 which cost a little less & i'm getting today btw. But i'll still end up buying it just cause it looks dope lol Love your work Lefty
Thanks man. I wouldn’t let the price stop you but i understand its not nothing. Moyarl is a bit different. I actually have a premium one to unbox so i shall see.
@@LeftyEDC Yes true & I don't mean to say exactly the same but just looks similar in some ways is a much better way of putting it. Went on the Gecko website & wow i want one & like i said i'll end up getting one regardless cause that's what we do lol BTW I ordered my Divo Stout V2 last night in the Arctic Storm Blue but Man i love the Purple Haze & almost grabbed it instead of the Blue, tough one there. Thanks & take care bro.
@@user-cr7zu5ww4wawesome! Thanks for the support
I love this for many of the same reasons that you express here. The design is really good, and clearly the quality is high. I in no way have inside knowledge on pricing or what it takes as a designer to negotiate with an OEM and get a design to market. I imagine a lot of factors, not the least of which may be the volume of the order, affect the number. That said, I’m struggling to understand some of the OEM model, Bestech especially. Knife Standards pre-order for RR3 is at considerably less through same OEM. Other similar examples are out there. Bestech is doing great work and every person should decide how they value an item, so no insult to the workmanship or folks who choose to buy this (and certainly not to the designer who is knocking it out of the park). But as a pure consumer, I can’t reconcile why this one is seventy bucks higher than the RR3 from the same OEM.
RR3 is a pre order so i could see it being less for those ppl then going up after. His first knife was $400. So u live and learn. Maybe he figured the price should come down to sell more. This is Geckos first production, things could change
Yea if this knife were closer to $300 I would have already pre-ordered it. I want everyone to make their money but $400 is excessive I feel like. Look at the ATK HALT it’s bestech OEM with magnacut and it’s $275! And the stout had Vanax which is more expensive. (I bought both of those)
I really want one! I need to know how it compares with the Buzz in both grips?
Different ergos. Buzz is a bit thicker we always do a 50/50 choil which is usually more comfortable since you have more real estate
Better fit and finish then the QC nine?🤔
Its excellent. I can’t recall exact detail on the Nine but its perfect on the inlay and chamfers are money. Def worth every penny imo
@@LeftyEDC give me a date on those premium growlers!
@@darinjenkins7954no idea. Waiting on Chapman Lake to start on protos. We are holding off on the kubey one hoping to get it made stateside like we always planned
@@LeftyEDC mannnnnnn if you make more and they cost less kubey premium stuff is crazy good for the price. I understand wanting to keep it domestic but not if both you and I have to bend over to do so.
@@darinjenkins7954yea. If we didn’t have 8 other models and a ton of stuff coming i would be right there with you. This is just something we want to do. So, we are seeing it through as long as we can.
We as leftys are treated like second class citizens of the knife community.
Yup.
You know why?
...Because you're a f*cking lefty!
~RESPECT~
I have that exact knife. I LOVE IT.
BUT, I have a question for Kevhere and everyone else who has one...Is yours really tight on the opening?
I can "spidey" flick it all day. But I'm telling you the thumb flick is pretty much impossible. I'm playing with my Stout2 thumb-flicking the sh*t outta that b*tch. Easy! Believe me when I say, I can thumb flick.
Question, is it just my particular individual knife? I wanna know if it can be adjusted.
Thanks
~RESPECT~
You are 100% correct! Anymore if its not a lefty or completely ambidextrous I’m out!
U might be resting a finger on the lockbar. Otherwise yea its just urs.
Just can’t justify the price.
No lefty model means I don’t buy it period!
