I get a kick out of all the comments on here. First, I have owned my 428 since the late 80's. You can't get it anymore, maybe ebay. My stove has a little rust, and rats, lol didn't do it. Mine has been used extensively, in the rain as well. Heat damages the finish over time and it is made of steel. It's the greatest stove I have ever had, especially when cooking breakfast for a bunch of fisherman.
I bought one of these for $50 from a guy who said he was "updating" to propane. Like new. Prettiest stove I own. Now I have 2 3 burners along with Gunny, my 426D.
L.E. guy here, The Coleman 428 is a legacy stove. I have had my Coleman 428 Powerhouse since 1993 no rust and its a work horse. I also have a Coleman 424 powerhouse guide series, Coleman 533 with a trivet and the Coleman camp oven. Every time there is a power outage the Coleman stoves save the day. I have treated the family to Shepard's / Cottage Pie, King Ranch Casserole, beef Enchiladas, real Texas Chili, chicken stir fry, and beef stew at our favorite kayak camping hideaway camp site. I checked Amazon the Coleman 428 Powerhouse is no longer sold. I checked ebay and found only one being sold for $200.00. I think I will hold on to mine as an inheritance gift to my son. Nathan's Famous Beef Franks with Bush's Best homestyle beans is a good tailgate meal.
I bought my 3-burner model 426D way back in the late 1960s or early 70s (can't remember that far back). Still works great. Haven't had to replace a single part on it. I bought a conversion kit (about $20) so that I could use propane with it. Two days after I bought the conversion kit, I needed it because I didn't have any liquid fuel. We lost electric power to our home due to a storm. Had to finish cooking dinner on the stove. Coleman's website still sells the 3-burner model for $150. But finding it locally may be a major challenge. I also have the same minor rust problem, but it's not a show stopper.
It would be fantastic to get one of these for anything like $150 in the UK - shipping a lump of iron this heavy to the UK via USPS costs $250 to start with.
Three burner white gas stove is no longer manufactured by Coleman. They do make a three-burner propane model. Wipe down you Coleman stove with WD-40 after use to remove grease splatter and dirt. It will prevent rust too.
These are nice stoves. The older ones like yours are much better built than than new ones. The new ones are very light and I don't think they would hold up to as much abuse as the one you have. And a 3 burner is the way to go if you have more than two or three people in your group.
colemans dual fuel still on the market. I just bought a powerhouse. But mine is 2 burners. Not sure if the 3 burner still around. Is the 1st time i see yours. Amazing. For sure takes more frequent pumps, to run 3 burners simultaneously
I have a Coleman 428 powerhouse dual fuel. This is a holy grail of dual fuel power house Coleman’s. The device is no longer manufactured by Coleman I’ve had mine since 1991. Let me know if you ever want to sell it.
The Cookware is Revere Ware as detailed in my “Camping Cookware” Video. The frying pan is the pan with no name, very light weight non-stick. I have since acquired a 10” skillet from WalMart that fits one of my Revere Ware lids. Dual purpose!
It's easy off and on the base if you know what you are doing! If you a once a year go to the lake...yeah...take it off and pump it up. Don't fill it more than 2/3 and it will last pretty good...maybe 3 times if you like to simmer!
I don't know. I acquired a 424 Dual fuel, you could run a test on a measured quantity of water from room temp to boiling and I could repeat it and compare times. Or, you could call Coleman, they were very helpful about a tent I called about.
I recently purchased a 1970s model from eBay. Not a bit of rust. They don't make them like they used to. The good news is that these stoves last forever if taken care of. Rust or not.
Did you pump a lot of air into the fuel tank? Don't forget to oil the pump lever and rotate the cleaner lever several times while it's operating. Other than that I have no idea. Be careful it's easy to burn yourself on hot parts while turning the cleaner lever.
hi thank you for sharing this reat video, please can i ask you a favour how can get a stove like this great stove for my father , please i am from saudi arabia and here oly 2 burner stoves are available
I would check the Coleman site on the internet and see if they still make a 3 burner stove. If they do then call Coleman customer service and see what they can do. I have no idea how to get it from the States to Saudi Arabia. Maybe an internet Bushcraft/Outfitter site might sell it and ship world wide. Good luck.
I had one of these. Still have it, but I don't use it ever since I got a REAL camp stove. I got a Campchef camp stove. It's like the difference between a Kenmore kitchen stove and Wolf kitchen stove. Do yourself a favor and get a Campchef stove.
LOL. Yes, a Camp Chef stove is a nice stove, well-made with Alumimum burners that won't rust. I have both. The CC Explorer I have has is a mighty beast but my vintage 426D circa 1964 is my go-to stove, especially setup for versatility and convenience with an adapter for propane. Too bad the Camp Chef Grill Box won't fit on it... If I had to part with a stove and could only keep one, the 426 isn't going anywhere. My Camp Chef Explorer isn't going anywhere, either, and serves its purpose pleasantly, however it isn't as portable as the 426 and ONLY runs on Propane. Maybe one day I will find an even older 426... The 428 is a nice stove, but the older 426s are real treasures. I have the 428s little brothers, the 414 and the 424 and the fit and finish is nice, but nothing like the older stoves. Lastly, the old Colemans can often be found for a camp song and a dance. Rarely is the Camp Chef found on the cheap (maybe to your point, though) and it has to have all those cool add-ons to make it worthwhile. AND the Camp Chef is a fuel hog unlike my dainty 426D. LOL.
@dLimboStick so sell the 3-burner Coleman if you honestly believe the Campchef is better. Better yet, Respond to me for a address and amount you will sell it for.
Rocking a 3-burner Coleman he cranked it and cooked the Hell out of everything, respect

The cookware you used in this video - what is it made of, is it stainless steel?

The 3 burner liquid fueled stove has been discontinued.
Ooops... my Revere Ware is stainless steel, forgot to mention it.
Adding mass to water will make it take longer to boil *
Please re-test without the strainer.
nice stove :)

Attics can be very humid, hence the rust. No different than if you left it in a shed...
You mite try washing and maybe waxing if you don't want it to rust.🤔
Quiero saber el precio por favor
mouse or rat piss most likely caused the rust
Take care of it , they don't make them anymore

Cheap sheet metal. Rust all the time.
