Well, that was easy.
Where's the damn "Easy button"?!
Just went out and got a 2005 VLX to hardtail after watching this video. My neighbor owns a hitch/weld shop and gave me the tubes with cutting for 20 bucks. Low budget build I love it. I don't really know how to weld but a guy I work with just learned so we will get practice on this one. Thanks for the inspiration going to be nice to ride again and have a badass looking hardtail bobber for like dirt cheap.
Nice bike. Just for health insurance reasons would you consider an internal pipe where the pipes butt together. Something to weld onto. Increase strength by at least 99.9% approx
Doesn't need tho.. he replace the shock with thick metal stick to give more support for the heavy. I have many time watching all this guy videos, and i just see this another methode from this brilliant channel 😀
This video saved me hundreds of dollars. Thank you 🙏🏻
I'm watching your video from France, perfect work!
Cest sur, cest des pro
Well F@&K yeah bro! Now I wanna go by 5 of these bikes and get busy building budget customs. Nice job!
These 2 minutes just answered a lot of questions I've wanting to ask. Fuckin aye 🤘
Up close of the work would be cool to see. Sweet looking so far
What angle is the cut?
Great vid. Quick, easy and to the point.
i need welder friends in my life because i want a bobber build...
BeginnerTeddy get a welder your self. You can be that welder friend
@@JulianGuevaraphoto dude get a TIG/MIG welder, that's the easiest machines to weld. You can get electric arc ones, but you would need more practise (but is more cheap though)
Are you guys gonna make a follow up video on wiring + battery? Love all the builds
Love your work man! Inspiring stuff
im watching your chanel in Poland, great jobs ;)
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
1.25 OD did not fit on my 2001 vlx. I had to get 1 1/8 (or 1.125) OD. The ID of the bike tubing is 1.20 on the 2001.
I'm so tempted to do this on my own 600. Would you do anything differently? How long did it take to get use to the rigid ride? Thanks for all the great content!!
do it!! I personally like the hardtail look over the soft tail. You'll get used to it fast
What tyre sizes you running and what they called looking in uk for some
Love what u did man keep it up
Dude that is brilliant
Looks nice. Easy method. What year is this bike?
Can you stretch the rear a couple of inches extra with these kits???
Loving the videos! I’ve noticed on some of your more recent videos and builds that the 1inch square tubing is non existent? Are you adding any other support to the frame when removing this or do you find it strong enough with just the slash cut tubing being welded in? I’ve also seen on some of the builds that the vertical support directly in front of the rear tyre (where the shock or square tube also attaches) is removed? I love the open look but I’m just curious to know if you’re adding extra support anywhere, or if you’ve found it to be strong enough without that that vertical post and square tubing?
Cheers!
I was wondering the exact same thing! Hopefully someone could answer
I’m pretty sure the 1” square tubing is just to hold the rear swing arm in the desired position while welding. After it’s all welded up they remove that tube and also cut the mounts that the tube was bolted too off.
Do not remove the mono strut that replaced the mono shock. This isn’t a true hardtail so all the wait is being supported by the strut the two pieces welded to the frame. They’re simply there for the look.
question, could i weld the upper frame to the lower swing arm frame. then cut out all the support bars and make my own??
FINALLY one of your vids with decent tunes lol
Nice job bud. What is the tubing wall thickness on the slash cut pipe? The video said 1.25” OD, but did you find tubing close to factory walk thickness, or did you go heavier?
Have you a video on changing the rake??
What tire setup are you running? Front looks bigger than the 100/90 from factory, looks great!
I have the square tubing and TJ said to do it 9 inches hc to hc - just ordered the TJBC hardtail kit - should i do it 8.25 or 9 inches?
Thanks
I've done things like this. Usually it's cause the suspension is worn out and you bottom out on bumps. That looked like it was in good shape. Not judging just saying. . ...
Made that shit look easy sahn
great video and nice bike man
Thank you!
Where is the diference whit the spring and whit out spring help someting
Sem amortecedor traseiro? 🤔
How much would you charge to make mine a hardtail frame? Good work
Is that a farm truck tire 5.90 15 ? how does it perform on a motorcycle ?
They work well and corner decent too. I run a BF Goodrich. Others prefer the Firestone
Would this work on a vt500
DOM Tubes? Where do you get metal supply in the bay area?
need update. Whered you wind up putting the electronics?
without suspension you really can imagine it i had i bike with out suspension and my ball are still in pain.....
@giota lmfao amazing response.
giota 😂😂😂😂😂
great video
Looks great! Wiw
need more vids like this
just tried to put strut instead of my shock, used the same as you (8,25" from hole to hole) and the bike is super low right now, I can't imagine how can I go over a speed bumps :D
He said 9.5 inch from hole to hole, not 8.25 inch
How short can the mono shock length be before its unsafe?
Is a 110v welder be fine to weld the frame?
Could you custom suicide gear for Virago 250. Anu video.
Good job!!!!
Is good with that? Like is rideing more good?
Can i pull this off on a shadow shaftdrive
I've never understood why someone would want a hardtail bike. I mean, do people like to tear up their asses? God!!
What size is that front tire ?
At 00:36 do u leave the holes from the cut open? I just bought my bike and it was previously hardtailed so im tryimg to figure out whay to do with it to make it look a bit cleaner. Thanks!
Mark P nah patch it up with jb weld if you dont have a welder. I usually cut a piece of metal and weld it on top
Great job, but one question... i'm almost doing the same at my VT 750 but i'm afraid if it will afect my safety, curving, bumping, braking etc,etc.... Can you guys help me?
modifications will not always be 100% safe, tread with caution
Sick
How big do you drill the holes
so when you gonna do a video on those mid pegs you did on your vt600. I'd like to do mid pegs and keep my forward controls though.
When I have time lol. Busy getting the bike ready for Born Free 10 in a few weeks
I need to hard tail mine this winter but I have no welder anymore and bike shops around me charge a lot. Just got the bike running with stacks on it finally. Did almost 300 miles on it last month on a rusty chain. lol
Bryan Doncaster Nice man, these bikes are pretty much bullet proof and they’re cheap! Have fun building it
I luv this bike
Dude, the Hard tail conversion is Sick, i would like to know how far up on the chassis you cut and what type of metal you used for all that. this is inspiring and want to do something like this too. Hit me back up if you can please.
Are those stock wheels?
If you don’t mind me asking I want to run choker tires on my vlx600 how wide in the front and rear did you go with ? As they don’t measure those tires normal like they go in inch’s you know what I mean
Tv cbr600rr 4-19 front 560-15 rear
hi, y i have a shadow too but i can't find a rear tire as yours.
wath is de size an brand please?

Ciao scusa la barra rigida potresti darmi le misure
so im new to the custom motorcycle scene, currently working on converting my kz750 spectre into a brat tracker...so just wondering what the benefits are to going with a bobber/hardtail..is it more for asthetics? are there drawbacks to doing this conversion?
lvwrx mainly asthetics and cleaner frame lines
@@LNSPLTBLVD ok gotcha...looks sick
Whats up bro im in the process of hardtailing my shadow , what are you using to jack up the bike
car jack should work
Looks great man. Can I ask what year model this is?
Carl Graydon thanks! its a 1998
@@LNSPLTBLVD thank you!
ok but what about the bottom frame which was cut off too? You left like that or you are going to do something?
it's up to whoever chops it. For us, we usually patch up the hole and leave it.
i see but that detail doesnt look good. Maybe there is some kind of solution for that. A nice one I mean
Ok I have to ask how strong is this because it doesn't look like the bar you welded in went into the frame bar that far at all. Also with the back end being butt welded to the swingarm just seems like it wouldn't be that strong. Is there a slug in the frame on the front welds ???? Very interested in doing this but I am worried about strength.
Michael Haire the strut in the middle is where all the weight is gonna be at. The weldings on the sides are purely for looks but I did slug them. We’ve been riding for years with this setup and it never broke on us. Do it at your own risk of course.
Well I do love the way it looks and the only other option is to do a kit like TJ Brutal Customs has. I did make a solid one inch square tube the length you put on your video and it's really low love the way it looks just havent went to get the 1.25 od tubing to weld in yet. Do you have any finished pics or video of your bike?
I would also like to see how the seat is mounted ....
Michael Haire yes, watch our recent videos. The blue bike is the finished product of this video. If you have Instagram follow us @Lnspltblvd
Thank you for all the information. I have one last question do you know what the angle was on the slash cut end of the pipe
Hola alguien sabe qué tipo de llantas son las que trae? Quiero unas para mi vl800
Firestone
Could anybody explain to me why would anyone convert a softail to a hardtail? I mean, you removed the shock absorbing factor and made your bike less comfy?
Because not everyone thinks comfort is a priority
@@jarnomeekes6756 yeah I can see that. My question was what is the benefit of having a hard tail. For some, comfort is priority, for others it's ______? Do you get better handling or, I don't know? Just a bike that pounds your ass?
@@FilipGereg mostly style and the frame is always in 1 shape now, as opposed to it bouncing around. With a rigid frame you can always feel what the machine is doing
Thats my point of view anyways, just build your bike for you and have fun with it
@@jarnomeekes6756 Of course, I'm not judging people for doing this or anything else in that matter, I just didn't know what the advantage was. Thanks.
Se ve bien pero bien mal!!!! La llanta de atras
Nice
Try to spent all day on the road with this nice hardtail solution😂😂😂
Tomasz Bator we did and we are going to do again.
giota lmao
Does somone know what those tires are or where can I find them?
Francesco Pastorelli yes, there’s a video we made on these tires. Info is there
Is anyone else having a problem with the measurements on the bar that you replace the shock with
Patrick Horton what problem are you facing?
LNSPLTBLVD I think I figured it out
This is the work of an unhealthy tube of the back
What kind of welder?
Miller 211
Are those stock wheels just powder coated?
Carlton Wright Those are stock wheels. I painted them with spray paint haha
Lnsplt Blvd Bahahahaha hell yea. I’m about to build 01 shadow.
Carlton Wright nice bro! Have fun with it and make it yours
Why doe?
Насколько крепка такая еботень.
Why did you ruin it and make a hard tail? Because you are still young and don't or won't believe it if someone tells you that your back will be wasted by the time you are 50
Most of us already have ruined backs, 0 fucks given. So why do you give any of the fucks that are flying around you?
Dude why?
rusty shackleford Dude why not?
No
Chuladota
Q manera de joder una moto 🤦🏻♂️, se la pueden cambiar mil cosas y optan por quitar la amortiguación .....
XD adiós columna vertebral
It has no sense.
Hardtail are dumb IMHO but at least you did a nice job on it...Stay away from curves with bumps!!! Hahahahahahahahaha...
Dennis Schell the seat will be suspension not the frame
i think its like riding a piece of art. sexy af
Dennis Schell hard tail rear ends were stock on many motorcycles for decades and those same motorcycles are still around today. I have built and ridden hardtail my whole bike career and love them. Harley’s hard large suspended seats with a mounting post that moved 6”! The thick seat had springs in it. Those seats negated the toughness of the hardtail. Then the seat was switched to a frame mount small solo with springs, still does the job. I have never had a problem on a curve with bumps with a had tail. You have your opinion that’s swell but most real chopper lovers appreciate the hardtail as traditional. Stick with your sportbike, they are easier to ride.
It's pointless.
That's stupid idea...
Then don't do it to your bike. That is the nice thing about owning your own, you can make it how YOU want it. To each their own.
Tomasz Bator that’s what your dad said when your mom wanted to keep you
Way to go make a nice bike ride like crap!!!!
