  • In this video I share how I make art and junk journals out of magazines using very inexpensive supplies. Great repurposing project for those on a budget or living small.

    Wow I love the way you’ve used the magazine!! Your pictures are beautiful! And I so agree about the times in our lives when things aren’t great! And we need to express it and journaling is a great way to do so...

    Very cool thing to do! I, too, have trouble letting go of old Somerset Studio mags. I have been cutting out beautiful images and making glue books, but I will certainly give this method a try too! I am currently working with magazines before 2014! I get lost in reviewing the older ones and still enjoy them!

    I love this. Thank you for the short video. I usually have no patience with long videos so this is just awesome for me. I have a lot of magazines (those big a** fashion mags like Vogue) and I can't throw them out because the pictures are so pretty. Now I need to buy me acrylic paints!!! Thank you for the idea. And Thank you to Dede for inspiring you. 😍

    I totally agree with you that the emphasis on the positive to the exclusion of our dark side or shadow side is not very inclusive of much of the human experience. Love what you have done here as I want to journal about what happens to our spirits during life and after death. This is perfect for that. Thank you.

    I just found out about magazine journaling, or art journaling in general and I like your take on it! Thanks!!

    You're right about life not being all hunkydory and a journal like this is a great way to let rip etc. Plus no one else need see it or you could cover it up with more paint if that's what you want to do. I find household emulsion paint (I'm not sure what it's called in the USA) sample pots work well too.

    This is a great idea! I would do the same with my home décor magazines. Cut them out and paste them in another book. Then it changed to tearing out the pages/articles and buying those clear covers and that was costly but sometimes you want the picture on the back as well, this is a great alternative!

    I had not seen this idea anywhere else. Very intriguing. But I also hoard stampinton publications and I'm not sure I could do this with those, but I have a huge collection of National Geographics that I could use. hmmmmm. TFS

      Hope you are well! Am making sure to watch any of your videos, as I enjoy them a lot. Have you ever thought about teaching one of your classes at Everything Scrapbook & Stamps? Michelle the store owner would likely be receptive, and I can ask her if you are. She's right around the corner from where we live, in WPB area.

      Lee Alderman Ely I have a new job which is limiting my time for teaching classes, but once things settle down, I may look at opportunities for this summer. Thanks for the tip. And thanks for watching my videos. 🤓

    Tomorrow, I'll venture out to my local craft store. 'Bella Grace Magazine', Stampington & Co. encourages writing, drawing scribbles, bending the ears, spilling tea on pages, leaving chocolate finger prints etc. etc. on their cozy comfortable magazines; that hold climbing mountain tops and resting in cool valleys stories~~Life~ contraction & expansion as my charm of a Tarot Teacher Lindsay Mack says at (Tarot for The Wild Soul). 🖌

    I agree with your "dark journaling" - I am on #3 of a Corona virus Covid19 journal... sure some of my pages are upbeat and happy, and others I am raging about people not mask wearing or who are acting the fool in public. It is helpful to get those feelings out. New subbie! :-)

    I love this! I purchased a beautiful book at the Thrift store the other days with gorgeous flowers and scenery knowing I wanted to distress it someway. This is perfect. So you just paint a page and let it sit for a while before going to the next page? I want to try this.

    • @PaperTamsMedia
      @PaperTamsMedia  7 років тому +2

      Suzanne Light yes. It doesn't take long for acrylics to dry, but pages will stick if you are too impatient. I stuck pieces of wax paper in between pages so I could work on others while drying time was needed.

    • @SuzanneLight
      @SuzanneLight 7 років тому

      That's a great idea to use wax paper. I'm going to try this!
