- Why my zucchini turning yellow and rotting?
The reason for zucchini to turn yellow and rot is Blossom End Rot . This affects all members of the squash family and tomatoes, peppers, chillies, aubergines (egg plants), and cucumbers. It is caused by a lack of calcium in the fruit and the reasons are not always due to soil deficiency..
After long research and trying it to my own zucchini plant, I had to make video about this to help others, its very stressful to see how plants not growing or drying.. (Shake 'N Feed)

If you have any plant fertilizer
Could always get organic garden lime which increases the calcium..
This helped plants like tomatoes, peppers, cucumber squash pumpkins..

I use TUMS, crush them up and let disolve in warm water. Couple hours later, fill a bucket with water and add Tums water to it. Keep stirring the water between feeding each plant so the calcium doest rise to the top.

Exactly, Good job. You can get a soil pH test kit. Bottom end rot on peppers, Capsicums and tomatos is also often a calcium deficiency.
Blood and bone or Rooster Booster or Dynamic lifter are also great slow release fertilizers suppliments that contain calcium. Gardeners Lime, Gypsum are also great forms of calcium. Some pea straw or mulch will help retain moisture in your soil and save water also keep low fruit or veg out of the soil.

I saw that today but didnt know it was high in calcium. I'm trying generic brand tums ( calcium carbonate) saw on youtube last night. But will definitely go buy some of this. Thank you!

I panicked with my poor yellowing zucchini. I read it could be calcium. It was late at night and I was so worried about my plant that I brushed up TUMS on top of it!! The next day I bought some organic fertilizer with calcium.
Thanks. My zucchini did great until a raccoon ran through and split it in half. Now the remaining 2 look to be dying. I pull the rotten ones off, only had rot from a week of rain. Great info, thanks from mater momma in Kentucky

So sorry to hear that... So it does take week and a half to two... I would definitely increase the calcium and fertilizer. Also do not water too much..
After adding the fertilize and calcium, it does take a couple days to observe. Let's give it a week after it should be fine..

Man I hope this works buying now! I get leaves then they turn brown and I cut them off.. So annoying. I'll try this. How often are you sprinkling this on there?
Sorry to hear that , but this will help a lot ! This feeds up to 3 months .. get some 1/4 inches into the solid and water it will do the job ... ( Zucchini plants need a bit more water ) 2-3 weeks after sprinkling little bit coffee grounds will boost the solid. Thanks for watching, more videos coming up...

Thank you! Every 2-3 weeks .. if you just need calcium, I started using garden lime, This is a faster way to add calcium to the plant too you don't have blossoms in rotten...
Use sower milk when you plant and bone mill next year when you planting them

I did't had the lime at the moment , I do have the garden lime , check my playlist I did a video on it .. it works good so far, almost been seeing lots of people using home milk mix with water .. they said it works good ..

I would say use organic garden tone , or bone meal fertilizer.. sorry about , definitely increase the calcium. I normally use organic garden lime , after applying, if you still have to give it a couple days, make sure to water

So I've been using a fish type fertilizer on Monday, then Thursday it Friday I do the garden lime. I do that every two weeks. Since it's so hot here I have to water everyday, not a lot though. I hand pollinate myself just to make sure it gets pollinated. I don't use a brush or anything, just use the male itself and get it in there. Which one if any should I stop using to use the garden tone. I started off using garden tone and the garden lime, but switched to the organic fish fertilizer.
So you're doing Actually good. It's just that a high temperature is affecting your plant for sure.. The best thing to do is just keep doing what you are doing and give it some time soon as the temperature cools down a little bit your plant will do a lot better..
Most plants try to survive in the hot weather and they slow down the production big time

My baby zucchini is little, tuns yellow before the flower opens. My neighbors is doing the same thing. So miracle gro dont have calicum. I heard u can u tums is the same??
if your zucchini Turing yellow before the flower open up , means your plant is in stress , needs fertilizer , or your watering if off , if the weather is too hot this will happen too , try water in the morning time , try organic garden tone for fertilizer or if you just wanna add calcium try garden lime or some people just mix home milk with water .. I head about tums but never tried it before ..
A cheaper, quicker way is to save all your eggshells, wash them off and let them dry, crush them up and add them to a quart of water, give them a stir everyday and after about 4 days, drain off the water and give each pot about half a cup of the water 1-2 times per week, you can then add more water and eggshells to your container and repeat the process.

So on top of my leaves yellowing and researching online I realized they were infested with vine bores 😲 😱 😲 I did "surgery" on the stem as recommended by another gardener and was able to remove 4 friekin nasty BORES ! UGH !! I'm on my way to buy seven dust . Do you have any tips on how to prevent and treat vine bores ?
I am so sorry to hear that ! But do not use Seven dust!!! It kills bees also !!!! ... Which is no good ... I had so much attack from vine borders and squash bugs, removing them and spraying the plants with neem oil and spray soaps water is the most natural way to fight them ..... I was able to save more than I lost from squash, zucchini and Pumpkin plants ...

I suspected calcium was the culprit for my zucchini, but I wouldn’t use miracle grow.
Yea that was back in the days lol .. I use organic lime now , and home compost is trying to keep it organic...
What about using lime? My package says it's 51% calcium.
Yes ! I started using organic garden lime from Amazon... It's working pretty well so far. I did use it on my tomato and sweet peppers...
Use cinnamon to get rid of ants in your pots or garden sprinkle it around the bottom

so sorry to hear , maybe its just over ripe or did't pollinate .. I do have a video on that too .. try adding some coffee grounds and prune off some bottom leaves , also make sure they get enough water .. please take look in my playlist I have lots of helping video .. thank you ..
